  • The before, time lapse during and finished results from my garden landscaping. There is also a side plot that isn't covered in the time lapse but is shown in the before and after photos.
    All expertly done by Gordon and all his guys at Bespoke Landscapes (www.bespoke-la...), thanks all!
    The design renders were done by me on the Linux version of Sweet Home 3D (www.sweethome3d...).

    Lovely work! Love that you reused the old slabs. No waste! Good job on the turfing too. Proper effort made to level first!! Why did you take one slab out and cut it in half? That’s a client request if I’ve ever seen one!!

    Why is there turf over that subbase! Good luck with getting proper drainage! (you may have got lucky but..) I'm a professional landscaper and I have to deal with this sort of thing on new builds all the time where developers just chuck a few inches of sod on top of compacted hardcore, leaving sodden, boggy gardens. Good job you have it on a time lapse. Get them back out to do it properly! (also why is the membrane on top of the decking framework? Water will just sit there for a bit on the timber until it drains through.)

    • @simonbettridge6820
      @simonbettridge6820 3 года назад +1

      I thought exactly the same, looks very nice but type 1 under thin layer of topsoil the grass will not grow, and membrane to go on the ground under the decking not on top of the framing? As long as the person paying the money is happy that’s all that matter I guess

    • @samueljohnson849
      @samueljohnson849 3 года назад +1

      Agreed. I also didn't see a geotextile or membrane underneath the patio area? I wasn't sure if the decking at the back was completely level either, but it might have been a lens illusion. Around those stepping stones back to the decking they put a mighty amount of sub-base and I can't imagine that turf will enjoy that super thin layer of top soil

      @@kirstinedybergalbrektsen4802 1. I think this is a nice time-lapse! From time to time I enjoy watching renovation videos, and as such, I liked this one.
      2. If You want just a green living room, this, without a doubt, is a labour-extensive solution.

    never work off or put traffic on your fresh laid paving as it will result in rockers and problems as seen, not always possible to stay clear but using as a work surface or turf stop is asking for issues...o and stepping stones are a nuisance 😁... nice vid and job tho !

    • @fontybits
      @fontybits 3 года назад +1

      Stepping stones - exactly the point I was going to make. Stepping stones give a stuttered and broken look to the lawn.
      The patio slabs should have continued to form a SOLID path out to the corner seating area, giving a continuous and inviting feel to the whole garden area.

      In fall, when the collection stops, you can still throw the last 2-3mows of the season into the beds along the sides, to replace some soil....

    This yard just looks good on the day it was made but for lasting purposes there’s going to be a lot of issues.
    First of all why is there such a hard base under the little bit of topsoil. The drainage will be awful.
    Using the newly laid paving stone and working all over it doesn’t help
    the longevity of that work.
    The Pergola in the back, after they put the base of wood over the gravel, what was the point of putting a solid floor over that where water can’t drain and it will only sit on there?
    Those trees are very close to the fence and if they get too big you’re not gonna have happy neighbors.
    By the way that yard has plenty of sunshine for Grass, but what’s the point there’s no drainage.

Nice job anyway, but for me as a landscape specialist is not spectacular, probabaly for someone who don t make this activity is a great transformation at first view.
