    Thank you for this! Most of my class does biology as well so my teacher just kinda skipped over this in class so I was quite confused. But your video really helped :)

    For the naming of amino Ethanoic acid do u need the 2? Because it has to be on the 2nd carbon

      er mee hi, carboxylic acids are the primary functional group and therefore the carbon numbering starts at 1 in the carboxylic acid. it is always assumed that this out position 1 and therefore you do not need to number ethanoic acid. you see do need to number dioic acids like butane-1,4-dioic acid.
