I don't even shave anymore and I would be proud to own that Straight Razor. Can't say "They don't make 'em like they used to" with you. Awesome work man.
I’ve been following the channel for a while now and am always curious about new and different projects. You’re the main trigger that I took up knifemaking and even did a bladesmithing course a week ago. So thanks for the awesome work and inspiration. Keep it up :)
I really appreciate that you explain science behind the design elements. I’ve always wondered how they maintained the edge on the strop. Brings back found memories of the old time barbershop I grew up with.
Nice Razor I have been watching your videos for a while I lived in Idaho from middle school through High School then went into the Army so it's nice seeing a fellow Idahoian find success not only with a business but a youtube channel as well!
My father taught me how to shave with a straight razor, wish I had his, and would like to show my son how to use one. this razor would be a nice gift for him along with some bonding time for us. Stay safe!
Love the aesthetic of this razor. The smooth wood finish in the handle meets the roughness of the forged finish, meets the precision of the blade. Beautiful.
This is legitimately impressive for a first time build, I couldn't tell you the number of times I've been watching "restoration videos" and they get to making the scales of a restored straight razor and they make something that looks awful and isn't ergonomic. Your scales look like factory produced ones made by a high end company. I've never seen a straight with such a thick spine/tang, but I'm fairly positive all of the production razors today are cut out of flat stock, heat treated, and ground out with no forging. Your shaving technique isn't terrible, but you need to pull downward/upward on your skin with your fingertips to pull the skin taut to get a really close shave, and avoid nicks and weepers. When I'm evening my sideburns I generally pull downwards at the corner of my jaw.
As a hobbiest smith who follows your channel closely, bought one of your fine hammers, and has a beard to maintain, I’d be stoked to end up with that fine razor.
you make it look so easy and I love your videos. haven't dared to go ahead and make a straight razor myself but want to try 😁 keep going and make them cool videos best regards Johnny from Denmark
Nicely done. An unplanned side effect of watching this for me was the decision to buy more wheels for my 2 x 72, so this was an expensive few minutes for me!
Hope you forge more of these in the future. I'd love to get my hands on one. You should try a three pin scale setup. That way, the edge is not resting against phenolic. Awesome job!
And when I first subscribed to your channel I think you were at about 15k and still a long way from moving to Texas. Well now, THAT didn't take long! It's been great watching your content and seeing the channel grow! Be safe, stay healthy and God bless you and your family. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Looks amazing! I do a little blacksmithing myself and have had a lot of interest in forging a straight razor. I learned a few things from this video. Thanks!
Nicely done. Razors are a unique challenge and it's not until you start making them that you have to figure out ways to solve their inherent problems. Props :)
That's gorgeous. I would love that. My dad always used a straight razor to shave with, but I was always too scared. However I have done it a few times and it is really nice and you don't get the burn like I get from regular razors. Never cut my hair with one though. That'd be new.
As a smith, I've admired straight razors from a distance, so to speak. My hollow grinding skills could use great improvement before I tackle one. Great project!
This was such a cool build. Seeing the way you "etched" the makers mark was fascinating. One day I'll have my own shop so I can stop living vicariously though my favorite craftsmen. Looking forward to the next video's.
Any use of a straight razor that does not result in massive bleeding is a "win", so I'd say your shaving skills are plenty adequate 😉 Nicely done, and GL on reaching your 100K subs soon!
This was an awesome tutorial! Great skill and beautiful end product! I have major tool and anvil envy. I’m so impressed by the finished product! Great work and craftsmanship!
Thank you kind sir I appreciate the chance to win one of your creations. Not that I trust myself to use it on myself or anyone else but it is still a beautiful piece of work. Thank you ever so much GOD bless stay safe. ✌️🇨🇦
@bashiruzainab I don’t know whether I did something wrong or not but I sent my email address to you. Good day sir thank you for your response. I push the little checkmark and this is what came up so I hope I did something right. Talk at you later, sir thank you.
Not a knife maker, however love knives. Always enjoy your insight on the steel and the forging. I hope 100K comes soon, would be more than happy to win this straight razor. Thanks for your commitment to your channel.
Hello..make sure to leave the upper part of the grind to the higher diameter wheel meaning that you grind the full hollow with the small wheel (50mm) but leaving the last mm with the big diameter that way after you put the first edge you are able to come back with the bigger wheel to thin down your edge. Once that’s done get back to the small wheel and finish grinding and going up the grits of the full hollow. Be careful never to get past the edge or you will ruin the geometry.
As a user of straight razors, I appreciate the research you put into this project. Sounds like you should have a nice one there! Edit: There are plenty of old English made Razors out there with Wedge or near wedge grinds as well.
Many old razors were wedge’s. Though a hollow ground would be easier to hone. Razors are generally finished on grits beyond 10k before stropping. Just tips for your next razor!
excellent job I love forging but I never did anything just the occasional handle for an old knife and give it new life. I am a mechanic specialized in Cummins engines here in Argentina we are few sometimes I imagine pieces turned into a knife or as a handle. I send you a big hug and blessings for you and your family from Buenos Aires Argentina
I don't even shave anymore and I would be proud to own that Straight Razor. Can't say "They don't make 'em like they used to" with you. Awesome work man.
Fantastic work Elijah. Anyone would be thrilled to own such a gorgeous razor.
Being a barber and a forging fan, this was fun to watch! Came out looking great!
agreed, wonderful to watch, regards dapper shaves

it’s been a joy to watch this channel grow so much over the past year or so
Thanks, I appreciate the support!

Your voice over commentary during the work is excellent, informative and engaging. Keep it up!

I was thinking "NO way is he going to shave the LOT?", But lovely craftmanship as per usual.
I enjoy watching an artist at work creating something out of raw material. Keep forging.
Turned out quite nice; for a 1st try to the finish, I'm impressed.
Crafting the handle seemed as equally challenging as the blade.
LOVE IT ESPECIALLY THE FACT THAT YOU LEFT THE FORGE MARKINGS GREAT BLADE ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL DESIGN GREAT CRAFTSMANSHIP THANK YOU FOR SHARING IT
Nice work. Glad to see someone make one while playing attention to that spine thickness to width ratio for sharpening.
Excellent work. The razor is a beauty.
Thank you very much!

Awesome. Love the honesty about your work during trail and errors.
Dang I swear this channel had like 14k when I got here a few months ago, it’s well deserved cheers fire creek! Here’s hoping for 100k
This was one of my favorite projects. A nice change of pace!
I like the high end rustic look. High quality work
This build kept me so interested I had to watch it twice. Learned so many things in such a short bang-bell time!
Looks great. I've always been enamored of straight razors. My grandpa used one and I thought it was so cool.
I’ve had my beard over 2 decades and I can’t imagine shaving it, but I would still be honored to win that razor brother! Great vid 👍
Thank you.. I would be honored to have something that you made..
As a hobbiest smith who follows your channel closely, bought one of your fine hammers, and has a beard to maintain, I’d be stoked to end up with that fine razor.

Getting into delicate work, I like it. So many transferable skills that can be applied to all different builds
Nicely done. An unplanned side effect of watching this for me was the decision to buy more wheels for my 2 x 72, so this was an expensive few minutes for me!
I've been contemplating getting a straight razor. What better way than try and get one from my favorite RUclips Bladesmith.
Looks Beautiful! Always fun seeing someone try something new and learning.
Fun stuff. Love watching you try new stuff in your shop like I do in my woodworking shop. Take care.
Dude! That's awesome! Loved seeing that made! The way you for the spacer & the spacer shape were super cool! Loved it!
I've been watching this channel for some time now. I've realy injoyed watch you build your skills. This channel should grow. Well done my friend.
Hope you forge more of these in the future. I'd love to get my hands on one. You should try a three pin scale setup. That way, the edge is not resting against phenolic. Awesome job!
After many years making hunting and culinary knives, I found razor making to be much more challenging. Nice content, well done, thank you for sharing!
Great project. My father always shaved with straight razor.
I do some smithing, and believe from observing your build, that it has a very big learning curve. Good work!

When your work life and your entertainment life share the same day, you are indeed blessed. Love your creative spirit.
That looked almost perfect.
You are 💯 correct about the spine and edge correlation for sharpening. Love the blade.
Awesome razor! I remember watching my uncle use 1 when I was a kid.
I like your "silent" and your "talkie" videos. Great job as usual.
Beautiful and unique, hopefully the winner will know how to keep it sharp!

Couldn’t ask for a better first straight razor in my life! Good work
Nice little build, really enjoyed watching it 🙂
Never made a straight razor, they're pretty complicated things and you're very brave putting it near your face!
Yes sir they are more difficult to build than meets the eye
I have never tried a straight razor. This looks like a very well made one.
Well done, it looks great. It's nice to see the channel doing so well.well done.
Dude i love your channel and am proud to have watched you grow. As well as learn as i build my shop. Proud to be a Texan i am.

I see, interesting. Thanks for watching!
Probably the simplest and easiest video I've seen on making a straight razor, I'll be having a crack at this over the Christmas break
For your first completed razor, I believe it came out great and works well also. Keep up the great content.
fantastic content, details and commentary, regards dapper shaves

I am a mechanic specialized in Cummins engines here in Argentina we are few sometimes I imagine pieces turned into a knife or as a handle. This would be an awesome addition to my small collection of old straight razors! Kudos sir
Great job recreating a razor that is seldom seen today!
