Nice walk! The big pillar-type stones make me so nervous to walk around since I’ve seen stories of them toppling over and killing people over the years. The saddest case is a son who was visiting his mother’s grave with his wife on Easter Sunday some years ago and her stone toppled over and killed him. Now he’s buried next to her 😮
Dan, thank you so much for sharing that beautiful cemetery, and it is really sad that when you have so many low lifes that have to destroy people's grave sites.
I like the architecture of the tombs and all the different statues and images placed on them. It is amazing that so many children died in that time period. Great job!!
I started watching and thought is that Nottingham! My home town. Will be interesting to watch this, I know about the caves of course, but didn't know anyone was buried down there! Too disabled to go there now so will enjoy this one as it is personal.❤ (have enjoyed all of the videos I have watched so far though!) I wonder if the Shipstone one was the owner of Shipstones brewery. There are guided tours of the caves under Nottingham, from nearby the castle. I worked at the General Hospital in the 70's, now closed and made into apartments.
Hi Dan. The graves at the beginning of the video seemed to be really crowded. I wonder if the people buried next to each other would have associated with each other when they were alive. The second half was really interesting. All those old caves and graves. ❤
Think this could be the most beautiful place you’ve visited yet. It’s great to see the stones & grave not vandalised or defaced. Some gems in there if you can call it that. Thank you lady for the key to the off limits part. Cheers Dan.
Hey Dan. Hailing from St. Louis Missouri buddy. I love your videos dude. Particularly this one. Love how you go to these places. I have a bit of British in me so I love watching you. Keep making videos like this. I like the ones that you did with Kate Middleton's relatives and the one President George Washington's relatives. Plus I like how they make grave markers over there. Most of the ones here in states are different than the ones over there.
Hey Dan, just a little FYI... A crucifix is a portrayal of Jesus on the cross, the crucifixion. A cross is just that, a cross. Hope that clears it up for you! Ps...loved the vid!!
What a magnificent cemetery. The headstones are exquisite; the craftsmanship phenomenal. In the USA, craftsmanship, such as that seen in this cemetery, a dying art form. If you could find someone to do the work, the cost would be astronomical. Thank you for showing us these amazing cemeteries.
There's a really huge angel at the Melbourne General Cemetery (Victoria Australia) generally known as 'the big angel'. It is a dead ringer for Elvis Presley! He predates Elvis by about eighty years.
Fascinating walk around.. I would need to take a weeks holiday in Nottingham just to visit this cemetery...oh so much to see and history to search. thank you so much.
I must have missed where this was located Dan. Did you say Nottingham? Are those stone structures limestone or sandstone? This is an incredible place. So many special architectural headstones, many different styles of Celtic crosses, a very unique cemetery. Loved it too, because it was so green. Thanks so much Dan! ❤ 🙌 🇬🇧
That grave with the fancy iron columns (minus the iron chains) was something else! I wonder why they are gone? Were they donated during one of the wars for material collection? I understand goods were collected during WW1 AND possibly WW2 for the war effort.
I come from a Moravian background. I'm sure you know that the Moravian graveyards all have identical flat white stones to symbolize equality in death. It's a cool concept, but the graveyards of the fabulously wealthy like this one are far more fun to walk through.
Hi Dan. I’m so glad you visited the Rock. It’s an awesome place to visit and I’ve been on one of their guided tours at night. They dressed up in Victorian clothing and we were given torches which were useful in the catacombs. Like you say, never used but small anti rooms which were meant for the purpose. You covered quite a lot of it so well done Dan
My grandparents had their ashes interred inside one of the apertures in the rock then closed in by a granite stone . I was horrified when I visited a few years ago to see that people are smashing open the little vaults and thrown the ashes around and smashing up the urns . The cemetery manager and grounds men didn’t care less hence why you see those bricked up apertures
That is truely disgusting so sorry that you saw this and that the managers don’t care. Pity the papers don’t get on to it and something get done. May all RIP
Those caves and weird rocks looked like cooked out and melted buildings and then mud flooded….and they make these places into cemeteries and golf clubs and plant trees and stuff to hide them. Really interesting.
about your railings, the older railings, 1920's or before might be made of wrought iron. Pure wrought iron doesn't rust nearly as quickly as steel which is what the later railings are
It's interesting to see the monuments which were popular, so much so several families bought the basic one. Changing it to show their idea as to a top portion, having an urn, a cross or another top decoration (finial) if you will. Fascinating.
Thank you again for the splendid walk. It was so relaxing at the end of a long week of teaching Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet to American fifteen year olds! I loved that you reflected on the fact that in the Bible the angels always appeared in masculine forms but the Victorians depicted them as females. One more thing, my name is Yvonne and I was thrilled that you pronounced it correctly. In America, most people say it “Yavonne” or “Yivonne” which I hate. So thank you very much!
Hi Dan, yet another brilliant, well executed, video. Also good to actually see YOU at the start of this one, I was beginning to think you must be too ugly for you not to show yourself more on your productions - haha - keep it up and let's see more of you going forward. :0)
Gosh the angels and plinths are so cool. I wonder how much something like that would cost today, and whether it was an equivalent cost then. Amazing. Loved the intro too 😊
Wow. Surprised they even have the skillset now. I was watching a documentary recently regarding old architecture saying some things couldn't be built today!
I am a new subscriber to your channel and I am so happy I found you! I am the only one in my family who enjoys walking around graveyards; I thought I was strange. Really enjoy your tours; thank you 😊
I cannot allow myself, now in my early 60s to walk & venture into a cemetery. From the age of 2 & throughout my life, Ive been followed home. This is a beautiful place & I appreciate your respect, kindness & compassion. U are giving me a glimpse into the distant past of those who once lived & breathed. Thank U ❤
I like walking around my local cemetery near me to read the headstones, some babies and children never had any names on just " baby " " child " We also have some polish soilders from the 2nd world war.
What a great video! Thanks for this. We have friends that live in Nottingham, so it might be a place they've visited too. There *are* a lot of angels there aren't there?
Sad to think that all these people were once so loved that a small fortune was paid for their gravesites and yet they are all forgotten today. I suppose it’s the fate of all of us eventually. 😢
There are many interesting cemeteries in Nevada in the rural areas, nearby / in ghost towns. Many had major accidents for mining disasters, or fired which swept through towns. Many of the graves have wonderful sculptured angels, mostly modest in size compared to these Nottingham ones. And many use Odd Fellow & Masonic symbolism, too. If you ever get a chance to visit out there you won't be disappointed!
In America you will see "rolls of tree trunks" set upon on a slab. Used as a memorial. Deeply etched to look like an elm or oak as to bark. The IWW members used that often as a cemetery memorial plaque. Also other benevolent societies.
You are doing God's work. 99% of those graves are long forgotten because once the next generation after their deaths are gone, there's no one left to visit any longer.
This is pure magic. I really thank you, because it's really beautiful. It takes me. I was like in a darkness world but a secure world at the same time. hails from drauglur from germany
Fascinating cemetery with a lot of memorials in really good condition the rock catacombs were so interesting hope you get to go back and film the tour with Yvonne ! 😊❤
That cross monument leaning looks like the burial or coffin under it has collapsed in on itself and caused the ground to shift and make the monument lean quite a bit, you can see collapsed ground on many of the graves in this video
Hi and I hope you answer my question ⁉️ Why did you show yourself as a cartoon in the beginning? What do you look like. Interesting voice. I'm new here and really appreciate your RUclips channel. Thank you 😊🙏 Dee
This is by far my favourite cemetery video in all of England. Thanks so much for filming it and sharing.
Cool intro, there’s a few weeping angels in that cemetery, don’t blink 😊

I could spend all day wandering around that cemetery. Nottingham looks like a lovely town. The Victorian houses are beautiful.
I like the architecture of the tombs and all the different statues and images placed on them. It is amazing that so many children died in that time period. Great job!!

Gorgeous place Dan! Very unique, thanks for taking us along again! (and always nice to see you face, even in black and white ;-)) x

Absolutely loved this place. Secret after Secret. Very beautiful. Top job 👏👏
Some people must have been very rich at the time. Wow!!
Fascinating walk around.. I would need to take a weeks holiday in Nottingham just to visit this cemetery...oh so much to see and history to search. thank you so much.

great video so interesting, great to finally be able to see the face from wince the voice doth issue
Yes, you always have a picture in ones mind s eye
It's a very beautiful mausoleum in the mountain. A very interesting wall with buried people.❤

Amazing video. If that’s a new camera it looks great. It seemed I was walking with you. Love the new intro and graphics. Well done!
What great luck meeting that nice lady eh? pretty cool you got a mini tour, of this great old place. 👍
Things were so beautiful back then, the craftmenship is made with pride.
Your opening is the best This cemetery is huge

Architecture is beautiful..
Excellent camerawork and audio, well done as usual sir!
I could spend hours there! Thanks for a very interesting tour!
What a lovely cemetery. It's unusual as well.
This cemetery looks like a labyrinth. Very surprising.
Very very cool and very very creepy ...lots of hidey holes for unsavory types lol
My grandparents had their ashes interred inside one of the apertures in the rock then closed in by a granite stone . You were in the right place at the right time to meet up with the lady. I love the cemetery Awesome video!!❤👍🏼
Incredible find. Thanks for sharing 👍🏾
I enjoy walking around cemeteries, reading the epitaphs . I have never wanted to desecrate anything or steal anything
Hi from Brisbane Australia, enjoy and love your videos. Have always loved going through the older cemeteries and headstones.
Loved the opening to your video! What a very interesting place thanks for sharing.
off limits cemetery seems quiet bizzar ironic i found the video of yours was looking at the 1 near a friends on google maps earlier
I was late. But I'm here now. 😊 Now I can put a face to your beautiful voice!!!!
Love the cemetery. It was different.
Thank you again for the splendid walk. It was so relaxing at the end of a long week of teaching Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet to American fifteen year olds!

Just came across your content. Beautiful graveyard. I also fell asleep midway, you have a soothing voice
Gosh the angels and plinths are so cool. I wonder how much something like that would cost today, and whether it was an equivalent cost then. Amazing. Loved the intro too 😊
They cost a fortune. Start at £10,000!
Wow. Surprised they even have the skillset now. I was watching a documentary recently regarding old architecture saying some things couldn't be built today!
There are still some master craftsmen around. @@darryllmon

This place has a really nice back to nature vibe. All the green and the birds. Put in some walking trails, and you have a nice little venue.
This is my favorite cemetery to date. So interesting. I wish I could have heard Yvonne, but how generous of her. Bring some tea the next time!
I hate to see vandalism in a cemetery, if you can't rest in peace when your dead when can you rest 😊
The cemetery tour was amazing. Thank you for showing.
I like walking around my local cemetery near me to read the headstones, some babies and children never had any names on just " baby " " child "

Always sad to see a baby's grave.may all those departed Rest in Peace🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
What a great video! Thanks for this. We have friends that live in Nottingham, so it might be a place they've visited too. There *are* a lot of angels there aren't there?
Cool introduction to this video Dan this cemetery is so majestic with it's tall sculptures I love it 🕊️🙏 thank you 🕊️
Wish I knew you were going, I live 10 minutes away and know quite a bit about the Rock cemetery. Would have bought you a beer lol
Really enjoyed the intro...and the video
Cool intro! Love it. Another awesome vid.video. Correct on the angel thing. This is a nicely kept one.
First time we saw u in the intro
Sad to think that all these people were once so loved that a small fortune was paid for their gravesites and yet they are all forgotten today. I suppose it’s the fate of all of us eventually. 😢
Except we can still enjoy the beauty of their memorials so many years later.
Thank you!
In my country, grave's are building with marble 😢...so cold and not beautiful
My cousin was cremated and put in a rock in the butterfly garden. It's beautiful!!
Brings us all back to reality
Love your vids. As for biblical Angel's they are all/always Male. Michael, Gabriel , Rafael etc... 😊
Pretty impressive graves there, some with plenty of money!
You got to get inside and check out those catacombs somehow!
Wow those cattacombs are super

A beautiful cemetry, very individual memorials in great condition in the main, always fascinating to look around thanks to your efforts
Some volunteers go around cleaning headstones
What an amazing place. Thank you
Very cool cemetery Dan 👍👍👍
Those caves and rock formations must be much earlier than the cemetery
They are, there used to be a sandstone mine there
Well packed in cemetery 🐨😃
In America you will see "rolls of tree trunks" set upon on a slab. Used as a memorial. Deeply etched to look like an elm or oak as to bark. The IWW members used that often as a cemetery memorial plaque. Also other benevolent societies.
A great dreadlocks walk Dan😁👍
It's a great name isn't it lol
Great tour, Dan!👍🏻🙂

Waiting patiently, in Missouri USA 😊
Very interesting cemetery, careful!
Wow so cool. Thank You
Hi Dan finally see you love your videos and the way you give the history of graveyards keep up the fantastic work lots of love 💕 from Pakistan ❤️❤️❤️🙏
Really odd cemetery with all those caves
This is pure magic. I really thank you, because it's really beautiful.

Fascinating cemetery with a lot of memorials in really good condition the rock catacombs were so interesting hope you get to go back and film the tour with Yvonne ! 😊❤

As weird as the caves are, I'd still like to be buried in one of them.
Loads of tall monuments
Gorgeous statues! The occupants must have been well-to-do. They look expensive. Thanks!
Wow. Those musta been important folks with plenty of money and respect for the departed
That Is such a beautiful beautiful place. Neat graveyard. I just love cemeteries.
That is totally weird and unique
So this is what you look like:) Love the walks👍
Such a shame it’s been left so untidy 😢 ivy and gorse everywhere! So sad!
The locked up area was amazing
