Button Forms for Upholstery

Simply cut a square of fabric large enough to cover the rounded portion of the button; then, press the two button pieces together. The button's teeth will hold the fabric securely in place. Use buttons on cushions, pillows, holdbacks, quilts.... Made from nickel plated brass, washable, dry cleanable.

@linedeyes You can use any type of heavy twine to secure the buttons. I used a pre-waxed twine from Sailrite part number 29206.

Is there a way you can do this without going through the back of the furniture?

Yes, if your application has a frame structure, sometimes you can remove the fabric cover on the backside and secure the line coming off the button to a wooden part of the frame.
