- My mate, Geoff, and I took a short microadventure to where the Zambezi River makes its way back into Zambia, on the border with Angola. We launched the canoe at Chavuma Falls, where 3 days earlier a fisherman had been killed by a crocodile; a harsh reminder of the human-wildlife conflict that occurs all throughout the continent as we battle to share resources with wildlife. We spent a couple of days on the river, making our way down to the Chinyingi suspension bridge. The Chinyingi pedestrian bridge was built by a Capuchin brother named Crispin Valeri, a missionary with no engineering experience in the 1970's, after a dug-out canoe crossing the river to reach the mission capsized and all 5 people that were in it drowned. This 60km stretch of the river is sparsely populated, and the people rely on the river for the majority of their livelihood.

Firstly, great job! What camera did you use? I am Zambian. The shots are amazing. Can i use some parts of this video in a music video i am working on?
Awesome you guys! I live just below the Chavuma Falls. Do you mind if I post this on the Chavuma.com website? Would love to take you folk far NW across from Chavuma onto the plains. Enjoy the adventure!!
Hi Johan, ya, go for it mate. Thanks very much. Would be keen to come across that side again in the near future to get across the other side of the river and explore those plains you talking of.
Absolutely stunning work! Any hippo/croc encounters for you two?
Luckily none. Unfortunately this part of the river has a heavy presence of fishermen and activity on the banks of the river. Its like that all the way down to the Barotse Floodplains. Was still a great little trip though.
Saw one croc! not to say they weren't there though! No hippo- i think cause of the amount of fishermen and sporadic settlements, they have either killed them or driven them out from that stretch of river. Thanks dude.
