I've always been a FM fan, but Lindsey, to me, is one of the true geniuses of pop music - right up there with Brian Wilson and Paul McCartney. True, both Stevie and especially Christine had the bigger-charting singles (aside from Big Love & Go Your Own Way), all of their songs benefitted greatly from Lindsey's studio prowess as a guitarist and arranger. It could be argued that a song like "Dreams" or even "Everywhere" wouldn't have been the ubiquitous ear candy that they became without his contributions. Lindsey himself has said that his chief responsibility in the band was to take everyone's raw material and craft songs from it. Not to diminish anyone else's efforts, but it goes without saying that the post-Tango albums suffered greatly from his absence. And as others have already stated, both times they've toured without Lindsey, it took two musicians to attempt to replace him; one for vocals (Finn & Burnette) and one for lead guitar (Campbell & Vito). That, to me, speaks volumes. Great episode, Professor!
Christine McVie is my favorite female vocalist! Over my head, Don't stop, Everywhere and SO MANY other songs! I'm sad that she's gone, but her work lives on.
"Little Lies" is such a great song. Everything about it is perfect, from the catchy melody, to the instrumentation, to the back-and-forth three-way vocals of McVie, Nicks, and Buckingham. Amazing.
Fleetwood Mac songs were my entire childhood into adulthood. I was born in 1972, and I grew up listening to them all, and I loved every one of them, and have an appreciation for Buckingham, as well as Nicks. McVie's songs and voice were always what captured me most on the Fleetwood Mac hits. There was an effervescence about her songs. When I was in the mood for dark, brooding, and mysterious, it was Stevie, but if you wanted your spirits lifted, it was Christine McVie all the way. Her songs were joyous, and her voice was crystal clear. Aside from the happiness that her music brought me, I had a more personal appreciation for her. She resembled my late aunt (my mother's only sister, and my only aunt), who I lost when she was 29 yrs old, and I was just two weeks away from turning 12 yrs old in 1984. Christine always reminded me of her, and so when she died, I felt a little bit as though my aunt had died again. Much of my life, she had been like a warm hug for my soul, and it was crushing to lose her. Sometimes it's hell getting old, and you lose the icons you grew up listening to and watching as they age up and out of this world.
That's very true Stevie's stuff was kinda ominous and maybe daring but Christie was mellow,, sometimes melancholy but still optimistic... Black widow being one of those good,, even excellent tunes that you DON'T want to hear because it's so ultimately oogy... If you're a guy anyway lol...
Of all the singer/songwriters that we have lost, I took Christines passing the hardest. Her music will always be held in my highest esteem. Songbird is one of my all time favorites. My favorite solo album from a member of Mac would have to be Stevies Wild Heart. Favorite track without a doubt is Beauty and the Beast.
This has to be your BEST musicmentary yet! I am tearing up hearing your voice convey the turmoil behind the making of this song. In fact, I am willing to bet you had moments you had to stop and clear your throat to stop yourself tearing up! What sadness we all feel after Christine's passing and everything she went through with Fleetwood Mac. Thank you sooo much Professor of Rock for shining a light on the massive input and sacrifice that went into such a beautiful song.
I have to agree. Professor of Rock, you did a phenomenal job. I got very emotional and teared up watching this as I watched your dedication to Christine five months ago, when she died. Her death has left me so heartbroken and devastated. She was my absolute favorite. Christine and Fleetwood Mac have been my in life since I was 12 when I saw " Hold Me" for the first time, and I will be 53 next week. She will always be close to my heart and always be the Queen of the Mac. Her extraordinary and iconic legacy and music will outlive us all.
I worked at a record store in 1987 when this came out. We played it (mostly side A) over and over. I really enjoyed it and bought the album. Then I joined the Air Force. I left my record collection at my Mom's house, so I bought the cassette to play in my Walkman. These songs bring back a lot of memories from that time.
Fleetwood Mac was like family from the 70's. I am thankful to have seen them in concert here in Los Angeles. So much creative energy, fame, drugs and time together took its toll on the group. RIP Christine. You will always be everywhere.
To me, the absolute best music video on RUclips is the 1997 live recording of Everywhere. Christine's voice was a good as ever and I'm certain that was adoration for her I see in Stevie. And gosh, Christine was stunning!
You made me cry. The greatest band of my generation couldn't keep it together. When I graduated from high school in May 11, 1977 Hotel California and Rumors were the #1 & #2 albums in the US. Don't even try and come close, you can't, and I cannot even tell you what I felt at the time, which was these were the greatest albums ever. Maybe not ever, but together you cannot top them.
Christine McVie's 1984 solo album is so good! It's one of those rare albums I can listen to from start to finish - not a filler in the bunch. Bought it for "Got A Hold On Me", fell in love with "Ask Anybody." Godspeed, Songbird.
This is phenomenal! I absolutely loved this! Great job, POF! I will be watching this again and often. Tango in the Night is a brilliant transformative album. It's one of the most important and significant albums in history, and it doesn't hurt that one of my all-time favorite albums by my favorite band was released on April 13th, 1970, on my 17th birthday! R.I.P Christine❤
Really love Fleetwood Mac! Many of their songs were SO smooth! The women's voices is so melodious. It was like drinking a creamy drink. Please do a segment on Tusk. It always gives me exciting chills when the marching band (on the video) march up on stage and take over for Mick and others. SO AWESOME!!!
Also, "Go Insane" is a hidden gem...you couldn't tell it only went to #45 on the charts in my little midwestwen town...it was huge that Summer down here...
It was popular here in East Tennessee where I live around September and October of ‘84. WOKI 100 out of Knoxville Tennessee used to play that right after it came out for a couple months.
The single hit 23. More unbelievable to me is that Slow Dancing didn't crack the top 100 when both those MTV videos played constantly and were nominated for awards. The acoustic version of Go Insane is even better though - darker, more passionate and almost Renaissance sounding.
Rumors came out when I was 16 and those songs were so great, looking back those songs I should've listened closely to the lyrics because broken love was written all over it, guess I had to learn the hard way as most of us do.
I had a high school friend, his brother fixed classic cars. He had so much money. He would drop $3k - $5K on stereo equipment. The "Rumors" album in Quadrophonic sounds was great with all four speakers/tracks on vinyl. So was "Quadrophenia" from the Who. I probably misspelled it though.
It's really telling that Lindsey Buckingham had to be replaced with TWO guitarists. . . TWICE! So technically, he was replaced by FOUR guitarists. Crazy.
Once he joined Mac, he pretty much became irreplaceable. However, there is more than this one incident where Lindsey physically assaulted Stevie, including one time on stage. The song 'My Little Demon' is his own lyrical admission that he's had some issues. People were outraged that Stevie maneuvered him out of Mac, but everyone likes to sweep under the rug (or isn't aware of) some of the treatment he's dished out to her over the years.
Buckingham always looked so damn unhappy, he had everything and just pouted over Nicks, plenty of fish in the ocean, esp. for a guitar player in a big rock band. I found it very difficult to look at him.
Thanks for the background into the creation of Tango in general, and Everywhere in particular. Goes to show what a brilliant songwriter Christine was and how crazy Lindsey's studio wizardry was (well, still is).
6:00 _Go Insane_ is a fantastic album! There's really not a bad track on it, and some of them (including "I Want You," "Slow Dancing," and the title track) are pure pop perfection.
Exceptional video once again! Thank you so much. I remember fondly the album and the concert. Brings back so many good memories. They had such magic together, even though there was tragedy too.
Everywhere has always been one of my favorite, Fleetwood Mac songs, and over the years has become one of my favorite songs overall. It is definitely a perfect song and it’s amazing that the band was having so much turmoil, and yet created such masterpieces. In retrospect, maybe that’s what fueled some of their songwriting.
Such a dysfunctional family. A bunch of impetuous people locked in a room is going to bring something to explosive levels. When Stevie worked with Tom Petty he seemed to calm her, really wish I had seen them in concert. Christine and Stevie are some of the best vocalists of all time and also some of the best writers. I would have liked to see Christine and Stevie together with Tom, would have been awesome their voices blend beautifully.
Love your Channel Bro! I introduced you to my 12yr old nephew and now he's a fan. you keep the music alive into the future and for that we are grateful. Keep up the Great Work!
Both times he left the band, they had to bring in 2 guitarists to replace him. If memory serves, Fleetwood Mac has had at least 2 guitar players during its entire run except when Lindsey Buckingham was a member.
@@coryburris8211 Except for the last year with Bob Welsh after Mick fired Weston for his affair with Jenny Fleetwood. The first time when they were still making albums they had to get a new producer as well. Mick bragged a couple of years after Tango that he tricked Lindsey into coming back to produce Tango by hiring a producer he knew wouldn't work well with a band and that Lindsey's perfectionism wouldn't allow that to happen - so he'd abandon his solo album and produce for FM again.
I find it very sad that Christine McVie is no longer with us. Not only did we lose one of the great songwriters ever, I don't think Fleetwood Mac will ever be the same even if they made amends with Lindsey. Not without Christine. At least we have the music. The title track of Tango in the Night I feel is one of the more underappreciated songs in their catalog. It's just brilliant and you can just lose yourself in its guitar solo.
I love Fleetwood Mac! I saw them live in 2008. Christine wasn't part of this tour but I loved the show. There were a lot of great hits on Tango In The Night. I love Stevie's solo albums too. Great video! Thanks! :)
I just started listening to your vids on FM and am delighted that you covered both Sara and Everywhere, as those were songs that I discovered recently and love! FMac Songs that I’d love to hear covered on your show are Gypsy (there’s just something about that song that makes me feel really good, I can listen to it over and over sometimes when I’m stressed and it really helps, No questions asked, and the song that has has the biggest impact - started listening to it a few days before my elderly Dad went into the hospital and didn’t come back out- Landslide. Stevie Nicks’ performances when she’s with FMac are so much more interesting then when she’s with her own band- I’ve been fascinated to learn about the band on youe channel and hope there’s more!
“Everywhere” is my favorite Fleetwood Mac song! The music, lyrics, and the way Christine sings it. It all comes together for absolute pop/rock perfection.
You have to give Billy Burnette and Rick Vito mad props though: they were brought in at the very last second, so the band could do the tour, and they pulled it off. Also, the Burnette/Vito line up of the band gave birth to one of Christine McVie's most beautiful ballads, "As long as you follow". Which is a song, which for some reason is always overlooked by everybody.
I really liked the Mac version with Vito and Burnette. Fleetwood Mac was not at all diminished with that lineup. They even were able to revisit earlier Mac tunes.
Burnette & Vito, while talented, didn't have a whole lot to do with As Long as You Follow. OTOH, they could only do so much with the material they had. Outside of the single, and maybe 1 or 2 other tracks, the album was a dud.
I so enjoy your reviews, Professor. ❤ Such honesty, passion and commitment to sharing the true stories behind the best rock songs and legendary rock artists. Thank you. 🥰
More I hear about of the drama about this band. How they stayed together is completely crazy! I also lost a lot of respect of Linsday, not just for this story but as more news comes about him in the 70's he comes of a child who never grew up.
Talk about Serendipity........ I just watched this video last night. The song is a Great Christine McVie ditty. Yes, it immediately lifts your spirits every time you hear it. Remember what I said before about Fleetwood Mac........ A Soap Opera masquerading as a Band. Thanks for this one Professor. You are indeed Everywhere for us.
I did a dance to this song for my instagram account back in early 2020. I just fell in love with the song then and it is such a great song to dance to. They don't make 'em like these anymore. Thank you for sharing "everywhere" by Fleetwood Mac.
I was so thankful that I got to see Fleetwood Mac in November of 2019, and Little Lies was the first song they sang. Definitely a favorite of mine. And I loved seeing Mike Campbell play that night. But really every song was amazing.
OMG! All these Fleetwood Mac stories bringing up these classic songs really highlight HOW MUCH current music SUCKS. Please keep the Mac music history coming! You do a great job and are appreciated. ❤️
There's lots of stuff that doesn't make the "charts" now that's quite good. You should check out "The Revivalists", they are quite excellent. And they're not a religious group, I don't much get involved with the "lore" around bands, a lot of it is record company/publicists trying to create a compelling "story" for artists. I have no idea where the name came from.
So glad the band found time to make such fun and poppy songs like Everywhere (one of my favorite FM songs next to Big Love) between trying to destroy each other's lives! Happy Friday, Professor 🙏
Another great episode!!! In my mind, Fleetwood Mac can be categorized by the eras represented in the band: The original "Blues" sound of the Peter Green era; the Mystical Rock period of the Bob Welch era; the Pop Rock giants of the original Buckingham/Nicks era; the interim period of time with Billy Burnette, Rick Vito, AND Dave Mason; and the reunited era from The Dance onward. Many people have a favorite era and many barely acknowledge the times that aren't among their favorites (sometimes, the Bob Welch and Billy Burnette eras are largely forgotten). However, I feel like each period of the band's past is equally important and vital to their collective history!!! And for whatever it's worth, I absolutely LOVE the Bob Welch era... and I count "Time" among my very favorite Fleetwood Mac albums!!!
It is incredible how much greatness came from so many years of chaos and turmoil. Everywhere is one of my favorite Mac songs, some of the best harmony the band had.
I was 17 when Tango In the Night was released. Everywhere is my favorite song on the record. I ❤️ the artwork on the Tango In The Night record outer sleeve. The Dance live album was a reunion for the band. I think this is a great live album. Silver Springs in on it.
....OF COURSE, Lady Christine noticed the GREAT Artwork! ...loved that shot of the Band (on the floor) not showing their faces, fighting with Lindsey...telltale signs....
@XxLilly_playsXx Kiz Cool. The Dance record was recorded at the California concert on the tour. The encoure was Tusk with the UCLA marching band. That must have been a good memory for your teacher.
For me, I always considered Christine McVie's comforting and reassuring. She wrote their biggest hits. While Stevie Nicks had more solo hits and material, I always preferred her voice. Wished she had more solo songs. British singer Nicky Holland is similar. I was crushed when she died. I when old school and made a playlist of strictly her songs upon her passing. I saw this tour and rejoiced. I just began selling music and the first all CD store in town. Audio systems were all the rage, and "Tango In The Night" was highly rated. We sold tons.
Great tribute to Christine. Without her, Fleetwood Mac doesn't survive the turmoil. How they made it through "Say You Will" without her is a miracle in and of itself. It's ironic its lead single is called "Peacekeeper" because that's one thing Christine most certainly was. I read Mick's memoir recently (excellent read) and one of the frequent issues brought up in it is Lindsey's controlling nature. At one point Mick recalls a clash between Lindsey and John where he's complaining about John not playing the bass lines correctly and John says something like "This band is Fleetwood Mac. I'm Mac. Your name isn't on this. You don't make the decisions."
Fleetwood Mac is such a great band. All of their albums from Fleetwood Mac (1975) to Tango In The Night are good. It is a shame they didn't make more albums in this time frame.
I got ahold of almost all of the pre-Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham albums in my Navy days (At sea, constantly.). While good (There's 12 of them.) they are nothing like the post Stevie joining days.
@@ProfessorofRock The band had a totally different sound than it previously had. Much like Van Halen when Roth left. Of course the people who were the genesis of the band names were still there, the Van Halen brothers, and McVie and Fleetwood so it was "their" band. I always said Van Halen should of changed their name to "New Van Halen", and use the initials, "NVH" as the band's acronym name. I actually saw Van Halen on their first "Big" tour opening for Yes. They blew Yes away they were so good, and their first album wasn't playing anywhere yet. I got the ticket because my foster brother's friend's kid brother got caught cutting school (Don't ditch Catholic school, they pay attention.) and his parents grounded him with no exceptions. I saw Yes again a couple of years later, different singer of course, they were quite good. Still not equal to a young Eddie Van Halen before the substance abuse degraded him. He was still quite good, even wasted.
Christine was the heart to the band. Even if the others did not realize it. I will offend some but the Buckingham and Nicks craziness is equal on both sides. Some people who tell the Nicks story, down play just how bad her drug habit was and how mean and nasty she could be, while cranking up the Buckingham being a prick or control freak. B and N were equal combatants on the field and both gave as good as they got. No one in that band is innocent. they are all guilty of one thing or another, but because Buckingham was not will to put up with somethings. he got sacked for good
@@jimmyparris9892 it is more than just that. On October 20 97, I was hired to work Mac concert in Vancouver. 1 hour before the gig was to start, it got cancelled and it was because of Nicks being a diva. Buckingham was a little under the weather and was prepared to take the hit, none of the band even got to Vancouver. The news of Nicks antics in Seattle came almost right away. Nicks has an ego that can go toe to toe with Buckingham and she is not shy about it
It's ironic. I was never a huge Fleetwood Mac fan, though I have always loved a couple of their songs immensely... However, recently I have began going through their entire catalog, and have been increasingly impressed with what I've heard... So it's really ironic and wonderful timing, that you put out this video today! BTW, I absolutely love your videos! I'm sorry I don't often comment (this might be my second of third comment in 2 years) as I usually listen to your videos while I'm driving for the dental lab I work for, but I truly love your stories and the way you present your topics... And I especially love your passion for the music.
I saw the tour with Rick Vito and billy burnette. Was a great show. Not their best but awesome just the same. It was high glamor days and big earrings! 😂
It’s very commendable for Christine McVie to write Everywhere during such a tumultuous time in Fleetwood Mac! She was the eye in the storm where everything was so topsy turvy but she retained a clear and calm mind enough to not be consumed the storm!
Prof would you consider doing a video on the Divinyls and Garbage sometime? I know a lot of people do not like them but both of the ladies could sing, very talented women. Thanks. Be safe.
badger several.months back i heard in studio session of garbage new record and interviews was pretty rocking shirleys vocals strong as ever then saw later in record store was big price pof could review them someday oddly biggest song a clash song stupid girl i have the single on maxi cd first two records guess are the best no. 2 was ok.some good some not but the latest sounded really good but just too expensive vinly that is
RIP to the great CM I’m glad I finally got to see her and FM in concert in 2019. Featuring the later lineup you mentioned. Stevie was supposed to be in concert here in Birmingham Al, this week, but had to cancel due to what was said, band members illness. Definitely the most drama band of all time. I feel C Mac was the glue that held the band together. Again may she RIP
What can I say about Christine McVie & the impact that she, Fleetwood Mac, Tango in the night & the song 'Everywhere? had on me as an eighteen year old in 1987? It literally lived in my Walkman where I worked in a studio, hand painting decorative wall tiles in West Cornwall. I had a massive crush on one of the company directors, & would get butterflies in my stomach everytime he walked through the studio. The business closed at which time, the director admitted he felt the same way about me! He was only four years older, & we went on to spend the next three years together. Having gone our separate ways, I haven't seen him for over thirty years, but I hope he's well & I hope he's happy, whatever he's doing & wherever he is doing it.
FM were individuals w/their own unique sound and unmistakable voices. (You know one of their songs when you hear it - hard to say about very many modern musical acts nowadays).
I listened to tango endlessly when it came out. I was living In Arizona at the time and I would put my Walkman on and walk the campus at night and listen to it over and over. Always love Stevie s tracks. They were so sad on this one. Chris is the best. Such an incredible mix of talents. I remember watching Destiny rules Documentary from “ Say You Will” I think. some years back. Sometimes it’s not always best to show the inside stuff. I remember thinking Lindsay buckingham was such a manipulative, passive aggressive narcissist I don’t know how they put up with him for so many years. It changes the way I hear some things. Didn’t need to know it. 😂😂 your show is so incredible. Thank you!! 🙏🏻🫶
I was waiting for Lindsey to become a breakaway star, and was rooting for him, but nothing really caught fire for me.. The only single I vaguely enjoyed was the theme to the movie Vacation, Holiday Road..
@@ProfessorofRock I have.. he always had a more eclectic pop sound for his solo albums.. I thought to distance himself from the Fleetwood sound, and I often wondered if it’s why he never caught on as a solo, while Stevie and Christine seemed to stick to the formula..just my perception..

Professor…. Your analysis and stories behind some bands I never really had much appreciation for back in the day have changed my perspective. BiG TIME! I wish I had found this channel sooner… oh well, thanks from a new subscriber!
Lindsey Buckingham is one of the greatest but most underrated finger-picking guitarists. His musical phrasing is also unique and showcases an exceptional ability. That doesn't mean he's a great person, but FM was a band full of AHs.
She was stupid to start it, but he was bigger and stronger than her. Prof says the band members separated them. I suspect it was mainly Mick Fleetwood, who's bigger than most!
I love the You and I, Part II. Everywhere.. I turned up in my car (500w subwoofer)... such a great song for driving! Like others said, Go Insane rocked. I saw the Mac live in Calgary (2013). Got soem great pics. The chemistry on the stage was unbelievable!
I laugh because my co-worker's strong opinion was that Buckingham and Nicks came in and destroyed Fleetwood Mac. His favorite version was with Peter Green. Oh Well Don't ask me what I think of you Might not give the answer that you want me to
@@liquidtoaster I ended up listening to that era today and felt the same way. Maybe not that the next era was worse but that era was special especially things like guitar. The very special guitar players were going to be hanging out in the blues world. They had the ability to be special in a slightly different genre.
@@caps689 LOL! Yes, he said that his sister had a Buckingham and Nicks album and he hated it and he loved that version of Fleetwood Mac and it was like her music invaded his. Better songs though.
@@caps689 My brother who passed away would agree with him. They both were following what I would call the special guitarist movement and they knew that Clapton and Beck and Page etc were special before groups like Cream or Led Zeppelin. I probably was two steps behind but I think my coworker feels like in the case of Fleetwood Mac the raw materials were special and he wanted what they could have become.
Saw FM in concert in the '70's and fell in love with Stevie - was in the front row👍- but, Christine ... She became my favorite singer at the time. Yeah, Stevie had that raspy voice but Christine's voice was angelic, silky. She was the greased hub in the wheel of FM. MASTER songwriter. RIP Christine.
Never hit a woman, unless she hits you first. It was wrong that Buckingham was kicked out when Nicks attacked him first. But I suppose they knew who the money-maker was. Great song.
“Everywhere” is an amazingly great record… as at least TWO national advertisers have finally figured out. I found myself hearing the song on two otherwise mediocre national TV commercials. It doesn’t matter where I hear the song - it always raises the level of my mood. It’s sad for all of us there will be no more songs like that from the late Christine McVie.

Lindsey was responsible for the blissful sound of the arrangement, true.
Very well said Imo.
Always thought that Lindsey could have had a great career just as a producer. He has the craft of arranging the song to make it wonderful.

I have a secret crush on her. Not just her looks, but her class, her talent, and her angelic singing.
Absolutely one of the most mysterious and complicated bands ever. Such mystique factoring into great music being written. Cheers.
Right? They are amazing in every way. Thanks RC32!
@@ProfessorofRock For sure!
For all their drama, it was worthwhile for the music.
They remind me of journey a little bit.
Same! 1977 rocked!
Christine McVie's 1984 solo album is so good! It's one of those rare albums I can listen to from start to finish - not a filler in the bunch. Bought it for "Got A Hold On Me", fell in love with "Ask Anybody." Godspeed, Songbird.
I agree! I also loved "Smile I Live For" It's a gorgeous song.
@Tikneshia Beauford Yes! I just got the CD a few years ago, now I'm going to find it and listen to the whole album again!
No one really talks much about 'Behind The Mask' but if you ask me it's Christine McVie's time to shine...there are some great songs on that record!
Great album and tour. Love Burnett’s song When the Sun goes down.
This album was the soundtrack to my summer in 87’ it gave me so much comfort and inspiration. So overlooked by a lot of people.
Such a great song. Lindsey's solo career was so underrated!
It was popular here in East Tennessee where I live around September and October of ‘84. WOKI 100 out of Knoxville Tennessee used to play that right after it came out for a couple months.
I thought "Go Insane" was a top 10 worthy hit.
Love Go Insane and that video!
The single hit 23. More unbelievable to me is that Slow Dancing didn't crack the top 100 when both those MTV videos played constantly and were nominated for awards. The acoustic version of Go Insane is even better though - darker, more passionate and almost Renaissance sounding.
You said it best-Christine was truly one of a kind. I thoroughly enjoyed your tribute!
Rumors came out when I was 16 and those songs were so great, looking back those songs I should've listened closely to the lyrics because broken love was written all over it, guess I had to learn the hard way as most of us do.
Thanks John!
This is so true, I had to learn the hard way !!!
You can practically hear the drama in Rumors!
Personally, I don't think Stevie and Lindsey got over each other, but were too volatile to make it last.
'Isn't It Midnight' is one of my favorite songs. The whole album is one of my personal top ten favorites. Love your channel. God bless.
Thanks Laura!
Great song and album.
No more Fleetwood Mac it wouldn't be right without Christine.
True.
The band isn’t complete anymore without her.
It wasn’t right without Buckingham
Yeah, they tried it already. Hearing Stevie and Lindsey singing 'Say You Love Me' was cringeworthy.
I get the feeling that McVie was the anchor, bringing order out of chaos. Plus, she had the best pop sensibilities.
I have a feeling that Stevie Nicks can be a real monster to deal with.
I love all of the segments you do about Fleetwood Mac.
Mick Fleetwood said after Christine died, Fleetwood Mac did too.
No doubt
It’s very true.
It's really telling that Lindsey Buckingham had to be replaced with TWO guitarists. . . TWICE! So technically, he was replaced by FOUR guitarists. Crazy.
That's right.
They were so desperate.
Actually the song on their greatest hits collection’as long as you follow’ is pretty great. But nothing else really worked without Lindsey
I love everything McVie did, especially "Got a Hold on Me," and " Everywhere."
She was an excellent musician.
I agree! Lindsey's solo stuff was great.
I Want You and Go Insane are cool songs.
All great though DW Suite is the standout for me - though the definition of not a single.
Love your work. More FM!
I’m glad Stevie and Tom were able to have a big hit song together.
@@xxlilly_playsxxkiz9980They have done a few songs together. Needles & Pins,Insider & a few others,all worth listening to.
Love your Channel Bro! I introduced you to my 12yr old nephew and now he's a fan. you keep the music alive into the future and for that we are grateful. Keep up the Great Work!
Lindsey Buckingham is super talented.
Amazing guitarist!
Both times he left the band, they had to bring in 2 guitarists to replace him. If memory serves, Fleetwood Mac has had at least 2 guitar players during its entire run except when Lindsey Buckingham was a member.
Yes he is. Every member brought something to the table.
@@ProfessorofRock Tango in the Night one of, if not the best song on the album. Reminds me of I’m so afraid. Love his playing.
She put the “Mac” in Fleetwood Mac.
That album (Tango) had even more atmosphere for me than rumors . I was 16 when it came out, so it’s from a special time.
I love Fleetwood Mac! I saw them live in 2008. Christine wasn't part of this tour but I loved the show. There were a lot of great hits on Tango In The Night. I love Stevie's solo albums too. Great video! Thanks! :)
Man I love this song. Just that opening alone just puts you in a good mood.
For sure!
One of the best openings in any song ever.
Little lies is one of their best songs, period. I never get tired of hearing it.
I agreee!
GREAT song.
That's in my Top 3 Fleetwood Mac songs.
That song sucks.
I mentioned that song. Its great. Wasn’t really the guys fault that they got in at the late 80s for a way overproduced album (behind the mask)
I really liked the Mac version with Vito and Burnette. Fleetwood Mac was not at all diminished with that lineup. They even were able to revisit earlier Mac tunes.
As Long As You Follow is still one of my favorite Chtistine-penned Mac songs!
Burnette & Vito, while talented, didn't have a whole lot to do with As Long as You Follow. OTOH, they could only do so much with the material they had. Outside of the single, and maybe 1 or 2 other tracks, the album was a dud.
In addition to ALAYF in 88, I always thought Save Me from BTM was a great song.... You can really hear everyone's participation on that song!
Great story and storytelling Adam. Love your channel, it takes me back to my teenage years in the 80's. Thanks for that!
Glad you enjoy it!
I went to a fight and a "Fleetwood Mac" concert broke out!! LOL 😄😄😄😄😄
Forgive me for just discovering this song tonight on this video!! It's now my new favorite jam! Thank you! xo
Thanks Roger. The best soap in rock history.
"...You are indeed 'Everywhere', for us....." ...can I steal that!?? ...ha-HAA!!

@@rogerdeahl9629 Welp, that other great song will stick its nose in Adam’s catalog soon enough.
I saw them at USFESTIVAL 1982. I saw Mick Fleetwood pour a bunch of coke on his drums and stick his face in it. True story.
I love that I've been subbed for so long yet you still have gems to entertain us with. There are bands that are automatic clicks, like and comment.
I wonder if Stevie Nicks and crew agrees!
So glad the band found time to make such fun and poppy songs like Everywhere (one of my favorite FM songs next to Big Love) between trying to destroy each other's lives! Happy Friday, Professor 🙏
Thanks Allison! Good to see you on here. Been a while!
They didn’t let that ruin the music.
Mr Professor i think you should talk about who had the best album covers of the 80's.
@Anna Trail that is true.
So true. Thanks Marcus.
It's so true in Rock and Roll!
@Anna Trail thank you. Have a safe and happy Easter to you guys as well. Wish me well, our pastor wants me to sing Sunday
It’s a ray of sunshine for me. Their drama served as learning moments here, clearly.
I never knew the name of that sparkling song until now so thanks, I just knew how much I loved it whenever I heard it, "Everywhere"!
Love "the Dance" so classic.
They always looked good!
One of my history teachers told me last year that she went to see the Dance. So cool. And Tango’s artwork is very majestic and ambient.
@XxLilly_playsXx Kiz Cool. The Dance record was recorded at the California concert on the tour. The encoure was Tusk with the UCLA marching band. That must have been a good memory for your teacher.
Fleetwood Mac's music snuck up on me! It got bigger and bigger in my life! They create very unique feelings inside of me, Adam!
Hey, Adam…Love your expositions and insights on this great music! Have you examined Boz Scaggs’ Lowdown…??? Needs the Professor of Rock treatment! 😉
Maybe. But Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac is quite overlooked , dismissed ….
Very true.
They recorded Black Magic Woman.
I guess it's proof that turmoil can sometimes result in sheer brilliance. Great job, Adam!
Christine is impeccable.
Got a Hold On Me is like that friend that has always been there for you.
@@ProfessorofRock
Yes, she was PERFECT!❤
I agree.
Tusk is quite good as well.
Love all the hard work you put into your show.
The editing is fantastic!
No one in that band is innocent. they are all guilty of one thing or another, but because Buckingham was not will to put up with somethings. he got sacked for good
Obviously I wasn't there but, It seems like Buckingham's ego was just too big for the band.
All in all, they both needed some help.
There is no more Fleetwood Mac without Christine. Just like no Who without Moon. Just like Zep without whatever that guys name is.

I’m glad I finally got to see her and FM in concert in 2019. Featuring the later lineup you mentioned.
Stevie was supposed to be in concert here in Birmingham Al, this week, but had to cancel due to what was said, band members illness.
Definitely the most drama band of all time.
I feel C Mac was the glue that held the band together. Again may she RIP
Stand Back was a massive hit for Stevie. The synth intro still gives me goosebumps today.
You can thank Prince for that one. He wrote a bassline and played a synthesizer on it uncredited. Stevie was a huge fan of Little Red Corvette.
It’s a classic synth riff from Prince Rogers Nelson.
Lindsey even played with The Kingston Trio during his time off from FMac ..
He's so gifted.
Love "The Dance"!
Wouldn't mind POR doing a story on The Kingston Trio.

I remember watching Destiny rules Documentary from “ Say You Will” I think. some years back. Sometimes it’s not always best to show the inside stuff. Was an excellent album, many good songs. All but forgotten about now, but had a big presence on radio back in 87/88.
I was waiting for Lindsey to become a breakaway star, and was rooting for him, but nothing really caught fire for me.. The only single I vaguely enjoyed was the theme to the movie Vacation, Holiday Road..
Check out Trouble and Go Insane. Good songs.

Lindsey Buckingham is one of the greatest but most underrated finger-picking guitarists. His musical phrasing is also unique and showcases an exceptional ability. That doesn't mean he's a great person, but FM was a band full of AHs.
People seem to overlook his guitar skills.
Great video! Little Lies has definitely stood the test of time!
The singer attacked the guitarist, but the headline reads that the guitarist attacked the singer.
Oh Well Don't ask me what I think of you
Might not give the answer that you want me to
I mostly agree with your friend. Both incarnations of the band were good, but different. I personally prefer Peter Green and keep my ears in that era.
Even though Green left 5 years before B&N joined.
Great song.
Yes.
