Sometimes, people are better suited for others, which is why they become your ex. While I wouldn't necessarily be upset if someone dated my ex, I think a reasonable amount of time, perhaps a couple of years, before pursuing a relationship with them would make me feel more comfortable. Ultimately, I understand I can't control others, and I wouldn't want to hinder someone's happiness.

I would NOT date my friends ex, especially if they had been in a long-term relationship or a serious relationship. One of my friends dated my ex after I just dated him for four years I would feel the sense of betrayal.
