Boy am I late to the party ... 7 years ! But thanks for the video. I inherited a severely overheated Passat 2.0T FSI and after replacing the warped head, I couldn't understand the low oil pressure, but thanks to your video, I got it taken care of.

Thanks, I just purchased a 97 Jetta two days ago, looks like it has a frozen water pump with no belt, and when I got her started after finding the seller disconnected the ground to the engine, It has a chatter knocking sound but sounds strong. Oil looks new. to make a long story longer, since watching this video, you said if the car runs hot it can melt that tray and block the oil and this cars oil light is on when running. If this works man you saved the day! If not, at least i'm wiser. Thank You.

Did this myself couple of days ago, in my case I didn't have an oil light on but blew 2 turbos in 1 year. When I removed the sump I found a bunch of junk in the filter where oil pump sucks the oil in the engine.

    • @enigmaticmistere8865
      @enigmaticmistere8865 6 лет назад +2

@@gearsdwtk if you have to ask that question you should not be working on your vehicle in such a manner that removes major components that will ruin your engine if you mess up. you should have someone who knows what they're doing handle this job. Gasket sealants are all job specific- the fact that you know that there's more than one kind should have told you the answer to your own question- you would use a gasket sealant formulated for use in oil applications, preferably one that can handle high heat as this is a turbocharged engine and oil temperatures will be higher on the return side than they would on a naturally aspirated engine. Forced induction is unforgiving in regards to oil demands. foreign debris, such as the pickup tube in this video, has an immediate and dramatic effect on the life of your turbocharger.

We bent the oil pump pick up tube by mistake when reinstalling an oil pan. Check gauge light on and low oil pressure. I think if we replace the pick up tube it should fix the problem. My question to you is would running the truck parked at idle than at higher speed ruin a truck. Seems like at a higher speed oil circulates but as it drops you can hear the clicking sound and check gauge comes on for oil. Probably the engine not getting oil...

Original Plastic water propeller causes overheat and sprays coolant over wiring. Cheap rubber coating on wires causes coolant to be absorbed into connectors which causes electrical problems. The passengers side motor mount wasn't designed to be removed more than 3 times then the bolts strip out but this need to be removed every time the water pump , belt is replaced.. Going to replaced the oil pressure sender for flashing light. Now I find there's more plastic involved! I hope the switch fixes it.

Hey brother, i have a 2007 passat 2.0. I was driving and the oil pressure STOP engine light came on while i was on the highway. i pulled off as soon as i could. I lost almost all my oil. I got it to a parking lot nearby where it still sits while i work on it everyday. I cannot seem to replicate the leak. i start it and a minute later or so the oil light comes on and i shut it down but its not leaking anymore. I am down to either the sending unit or the pump. I highly doubt the pump is not working as i only have 75,500 miles on it. my car did not show any signs of over heating. But anyways is that the screen that everyone talks about checking when removing the oil pan? Also, what is the best way to get the oil sending unit off?

Volkswagen and Castrol spent millions of dollars in research and development coming up with the specifications that Volkswagen uses. anyone claiming to know better without having put up the money for the research and development is a liar and a fool. trust your owners manual, only buy oil that means the recommendations and is stamped vw 502, 503 etc (depending on which engine you're working on). some guys will tell you to buy the t6 Rotella anyway- these guys sell their car long before a hundred fifty thousand miles of hard running.

Does the oil pickup feed only the cylinder head? I have good pressure at the block but none at the head - thinking either clogged oil passage in the head OR possibly oil pickup - but unsure if you can have good pressure at the block with a clogged oil sump!

So i got this Pressure light too on a 2.0T FSI.
    However it hasnt been overheat.
I know i was a bit late for a oil service half a year ago, and could actually see a bit of buildup right under the oilcap.
What im sure of is that there is no plastic inside my pickup tube...
    Could it still be clogged?
Or should i be looking for other signs that would cause this lamp to get on?
My car defo sounds like a diesel, and it has always sounded like one.
The lamp gets on for a second, then off again. And comes back and off now and then so its not a permanent pressure loss, it just dips now and then.

I cant exactly remember if i did anything more about that.
Did too much overall with this car.
It lasted 270'000km and then "Snap", chain went to hell and car went to the breaker.
Mechanic checked the chain and engine to see if it was an expensive repair, and so it was.
The plastic part on tensioner had broken loose and the rod had actually been ripped out, leaving chain hanging, and boom, bent valves.

@labibcoplast5224 when did tree separates the air from the oil so as the crank turns it airy eights, all of the oil which causes a bunch of air bubbles it sits on top of the wind is Trey drops down so when it goes into the sump it’s nice and thick oil and if you didn’t have that what would happen is or what could possibly happen is you would get more metal on metal contact throughout the engine because you have air bubbles inside the oil and we want the oil to remain consistent to protect the engine

I was happy engine will last at least 50000 miles. 1 minute engine work and stop... intake cam frezze becouse no oil comming. How that possible on low miles. More likely oil pump. Head is going to trash. I will sell it as is. Enough is enough...

i got a 2005 VW Beetle this POS has less then 108,000 on it and the oil pressure is going bonkers i am thinking it is the pick up is plugged with sludge so I will be using this video to change that soon. It idles fine no issue with oil pressure but when I drive and hit 1700- 1800 RPM the oil pressure light goes on at idle it is fine up to like 3000 RPM then it goes on. I will never buy another VW again this is my second one and have had nothing but issues with them both. The first one was a 92 VW cabriolet and it had issues with the battery draining over night I checked everything I could think of starter, alternator, battery, radio, even pulled the ignition switch plug and it still drained over night. Now this Beetle it has been nothing but problems from day one was slipping 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd so changed the valve body new fluid new filter then starts slipping 1st to 2nd now the oil pickup plus the cable from alternator to fuse block on battery likes to get super hot and melt into the battery.
