Mounting places look promising. I like the hitch mount. You should secure the porthole covers with a lanyard to hang from the box when in use. If you don’t you know you’ll loose one sooner or later.
I like the hitch on the front idea and have it sit on a flat surface that has 2 pins coming up into the box kinda like locater dowels, I guess like a hood pin type of setup, then have the same setup on the front of the trailer so the box is easily swappable
Put a hitch receiver on the front. Then you can get a small off the shelf luggage rack and mount your gen box to that. Easy to lock it, too. When you don't need to have your generator with you, you can put a bike rack on the receiver for the bikes.
I didn't even think about the vibration and carbon monoxide concerns about having the generator mounted on the back of the RV! Good point to consider. I think for my rig I would lean towards having the generator attached to the truck most of the time
Just a piece of square tube to receive the hitch like on the front of the truck and the box can be swapped from the trailer to the truck... As far as I know the Honda has 12V outlet, maybe a case fan run from this would cool down the box? If you are on a campsite, the box could be unmounted and put to the ground, so the vibrations can be eliminated... Thx for the update vid! :-D
Hitch on front of truck is good idea and i am sure a man of ur caliber could fab a mount on to the front of the trailer so as to accept the hitch so u can use it on both
You know what. I have a special video to share about how popular those small Honda inverter generators are. ruclips.net/video/aS142bxFxq0/видео.html you’re right, Honda generators are one of the best portable generators.
I think that mounting it to the front is the better of the two options. I also feel like if you mount it to the front you will accidentally knock it off, so maybe you could put a camera up there so you can see if it is going to hit something in tight spots.
This is very helpful!! I want to keep my genrator Predator 3500 Invertor, in the box of my pickup. Was trying to find a way to keep it ventilated and have access to fuel outlet and electric outlets and big one to have it so it is protected from rain and snow while using and still be safe. What are your plans if the weather is bad and still be able to use your generator?
nice genny box maybe you could wrape it w/ sytrow foam to quiet it down. I'm planning on removing my onam 2800 genny thats mounted where the spare tire is on my pleasureway chevy 3500 rv van in favor of front bumper yammie2K genny mainly bc I don't want to dunk my onam in water when lauching my vessel. btw what happened to the express box van I saw you install a engine in.
For tbe front .. I would not do to if it's mounted while traveling will cause airflow block .. That whole in the middle .would be for trans cooler.. But in all love the whole unit. Pulse if u do the trailer. Will be lovely set ups
Hi, were did you order the "ports" that's how they are called? the round plastic used for the openings?. Thanks in advance, i'm building mine and can't find those round black plastic pieces.
Im kinda confused here Ive seen some videos that says the generators need more room or space around them, maybe those are the gas generators but I see a place on top of this generator to put gas in it as well?
Shouldn't that refrigerator be vented. RV's are normally vented at the top and bottom of refrigerator to draw in cooler air over the coils and then hot air vented out the top.

I think the white roof looks good.

7:07 is where the Generator Box build starts.
Great build. I need one for my generator. Looking for box.
Campers looking good Mark . Great idea for the generator !
Honda generators have been known to get up and walk away. Always a good idea to keep them out-of-sight and cable lock them to something.

The 2200 series gens cool engine from the bottom. So maybe cut a hole in bottom of box and put some sort of heavy screen in.
Bro how is it holding up the box ? Did it overheat? I just made mine but I think it’s running too hot even with a lot of wholes
I think you should build a swing away mount off the back bumper, lots of good reasons, and lots of good ideas out there in the overlanding community
Tough call for the mounting... reasoning is valid.

That’s awesome!
Here's a inexpensive pre-made box for Honda EU2000i generators
How did this generator box work out? Did the genny overheat?
Nice job god bless

They are fish house hole covers. About 10 bucks apiece
Easy to convert it to propane which helps with smell

It noise still because metal rattle. Use wood or plastic better
Nothing sticks to silicone including itself.
Remember, build it, don't buy it... Unless it's from Facebook marketplace.
Exactly! You nailed it.
