Born and Raised in New York. I spend every summer of my life from age 4-18yrs in South Carolina & Georgia. When OutKast came out along with the entire Dungeon Family & affiliates I was so Glad that the South Had some real down home hip hop that gives you an inside look of the South. Besides OutKast, I listened to Ghetto Mafia, Pastor Troy, Goodie Mob( Dungeon Family) and a whole list of other. The beautiful thing about hip hop, is the way every region/State throughout the United States have a different sound. As Hip Hop progressed we all got a taste of those different elements through out the years. Yes, New York is the official Birthplace, but the contributions by so many makes it Universal, in fact I’m bumping some UK Drill music As I’m typing this 😂🤣

Brings back soooooo many memories, in 1996 I had just gone from my home in Sweden on a month trip to Ethiopia with two friends and recorded ATLiens on cassette just before. Was absolutely madly in love with the album and we played this in EVERY stereo we could get our hands on, home, taxis. Bars EVERYWHERE....from Addis to the countryside.. still get super emotional when I hear it. While I love many tunes outkast did, this album is special to me and the extraterrestrial vibe and masterful production will never get old. Wish I could give these guys a hug and say thank you.
ATLiens didn't get the respect it was due initially. Has always been my favorite of theirs. Never skip a track. I remember the day it was released very vividly when I walked into the Spec's on 125th and Biscayne Blvd to get the CD. Good times.

Growing up in L.A when this dropped it blew up so fast here on the West Coast. Hands down my favorite group. These dudes were a breath of fresh air from the West vs East coast beef going on. There is no one like them, they had a style that just had your head banging the whole album. For me both these dudes are the G.O.A.T.S hear me out. Everyone says Andre is the G.O.A.T and I don't disagree one bit with that BUT Big Boi kept up with him on every damn song and to do that you HAVE to give mad respect and consider them one.
