Nice to see a real test. Quick question here. I have an s-cross sx4 hybrid and also awd. Last year, I got stuck on deep snow down a small but steep slope, and I admit I'm not an expert driver. But is there a difference of power between the full gasoline motor and the hybrid one?
From what I understand in Mild Hybrid and Stronger Hybrid you have around 130Hp in gasoline motor while if classic gasoline you have 140 HP. Electric motor potentially is adding you some power , but I heard Mild Hybrid only helping in Start-Stop and "Strong" Hybrid is also very limited. But this 10 HP of Power you potentially lose is not so much I think. This is something to investigate when in reality Electric motor of "Strong" Hybrid kicks in. @@OutdoorAdventure0 Thank you for the reply. I can confirm that Suzuki provides strong micro-hybrid cars. But I doubt that hacking my car to get more power would physically be possible.
the biggest difference with the mild hybrid is the extra torque you can get. If the car gets suspended in snow it doesn't matter if you have 500 hp or 120. The horse power is pretty much not used when going at slow speeds anyways (not sure if you have the torque and hp gauges in your s-cross hybrid, but you can see how much of each you use) As you saw, the new one has 129 hp and the old 14c engine is 140 hp tho I did not feel much of a difference on regular, road driving conditions. The old 1.4 has torque from a lower rpm tho which might be handy at times.

How is the Allgrip 4WD System in this Vitara realized ? Is it a transferbox that goes from the front differential to a magnetic 4WD coupling and then to a Visco coupling attached to the back differential ? Or is it a multi disc plate wet-clutch type system like a Haldex coupling ? I cannot find a detailed explanation of the functioning and parts of Suzukis Allgrip, all videos are just the usual marketing bla bla and if I decide to buy one, I want to know which parts and oil-households are being heavily stressed and might need to be changed regularly( more often than the maintenance plan says ) in order to keep the machine running smoothly for many hundreds of thousands of kilometers :-) Thanks so much for explaining :-)
Sorry, I don't have available Subaru XV. Maybe I will do some comparison with Subaru Outback in some time. You can dig deeper about technological differences. As far as I found Subaru XV has viscous coupling four-wheel drive system, while AllGrip "Select" for Suzuki Vitara has a bit more advanced system: electromagnetic multi-plate clutch. In theory first one is mechanical only, while second one is controled by computer with feedback system(more clever). But without practical test, you cannot say which will be better in offroad.
I think Nissan may have also good 4x4 drive. I heard, same Nissans, but older(previous version) 4x4 is used in Dacia and it is not bad. Issue is that some years ago only top(most expensive) version of Nissan Qashqai had 4x4. It was much more expensive in comparison with Vitara. Not sure how is it now. Probably even used Nissan with 4x4 will be rare.
Hi. I have no issues with engine till now. No issues in general at all. As for a cheap car, Vuatar still is, having of around 9sec to 100km I thing is good result. 140hp is solid for me. Of course there is some small turbo hole until 2000rpms. But manageable. This 140hp provide good power in situations like in the video.
I have tried Hill descent control several times and it always goes too fast for me and I slam on the breaks. Yours seems to do just fine. Not sure if I'm doing anything wrong.
I have the same experience. On very steep and bumpy road down it is not usable without small breaks help. On the first less steep road I manage to handle without breaks. On last one, steepest I don't recall, I used breaks or was very near to do it. Indeed it is to fast.
I was trying today and you can use Hill Descent when road down is not bumpy. When some bumps any way you need to limit speed much more. And yes HD word only in Lock mode. Otherwise it blinks.
@@OutdoorAdventure0 thanks, I missed when you said it. I watched some other video where the driver had more luck on icy and snowy road with snow setting and esp off than with lock, do you have any thoughts when comparing the two settings?
@zivotastefanovic6923 Every mode has a bit different characteristic. It is not only about 4WD mode. Also power delivery (or how it is bind to gas pedal). Or how aggressively ESP is working. Based on some field test I know in Lock you have constant 4 WD connected (through 4WD clutch), while for SNOW it is automatically connected only when needed. But in practice I have seen 4WD is connected in SNOW mode very fast, automatically so it may be not much difference (regrading initial reaction). Although when I drive through some deep snow or mud I must be sure I have all the time 4WD, and not risk that car will decide to disconnect it at some point and I will stuck in the middle of "obstacle". So, for Offroad driving(mud/snow), Lock mode, seems for me, more reliable. If you would consider driving on snowy, paved roads, probably SNOW mode is better. In this case Car enable 4wd only when it find it needed. Also you can drive in this mode with speed over 60km/h. I think in SNOW mode you have less power(this you can easily notice) not to lose traction during start. In LOCK mode I suppose power is not limited. I haven't yet confirmed this by any test. Btw. I always forgot to switch ESP off. Now I think it may be reason off issues I have sometimes in mud.
@@OutdoorAdventure0 great, I'm considering buying this car and I'll be driving ocasionally on snowy road that may be not cleaned so regularly but it's still regular traffic road, not an off-road one. Thank you for your answers!
What a great video! I live in a remote place in the Swiss mountains where the road is rarely cleared. I need to buy a new car and am thinking of either a Suzuki SX4 or a Vitara. It looks like the Vitara performs slightly better on steep snow slopes. What year and exact version is your Vitara?
It is 2019 140HP Gasoline AllGrip. 4 wheel drive system is something that I am really happy with this car. And rarely it has not enough power. In the snow it is doing its job.
I have the 2015 Vitara that has 150,000km on it, easy to serve, am very happy with it, have had 0 problems, handles the winter roads here in Sweden like a champ. I can strongly recommend it.
wowww! amazing nice video . Am your new subscriber ....im still wondering how did u manage to drive the car and drone looks like there is no one around there to control it ......lol JK ....really awesome
Thanks. Really appreciate your comment. Thanks for subscribing. And about dron, it is not a big secret... New drones have some autonomy enabled. Follow me modes, etc. Sometimes they are not working as expected, then driving and controling dron same time is madness😂
A very good test. Given that the K14C engine used in the 1.4 Boosterjet engine has been subject to a lot of speculation over its true power and performance output, would it be possible to do any tests on a dyno over its true BHP (HP) at the crank and also 'at the wheel's to see whether it differs to what Suzuki claim? Many doubt that 140hp is correct and also the 0-100kph times.
Hi, Thanks. 0-100 kph I have in plan. Real power measure I will think about it. Generally it mostly doesn't fail me regarding power, but I have no good comparision.
Surprisingly it was ok. I only touched a little of snow on top edge by the under car. And of course speed cannot be to high not to hit ground with front bumper.
Bottom part is Galactic Grey, upper, I don't have it written in any document, but for sure Black. Would feet for me for name Cosmic Black Pearl - not very deep black in fact.
In Poland they have completly withdrew Diesel few years back. Not sure if 5 years ago there was Diesel with 4x4. But I dont recall any limitation on this. Not sure about rest of Europe. But probably only hybrid will remain soon anyway.
Jęsli do jazdy za gościem w osobówce na asfalcie, no to zawsze możesz go poprostu wyminąć.
You have medium off-road good for SUVs and hard offroad good for Nissan Patrol or other better suited cars. This film is about climbing slippery hill with SUV. In deeper snow, i.e. 20 cm it is handling better than in such conditions as here, as he has more to grip.

Thanks so much for explaining :-)
I reckon you should deactivate ESP
Nice video, thank you so much!
Thanks:)
What tires did you use during this test?
i d like to know as well
Dunlop Winter Sport 5
Are you using snow selection or sport going uphill? what did you use going downhill?
Hi, All recordings on LOCK and ESP On. I always turn in LOCK, which should potentially fastest applying 4WD.
Salut. Cutie de viteze manuală sau automată?
Manual.
What tires do you have on your car?
In winter I have Dunlop Winter Sport 5. They never failed me. For summer I have Cooper Discoverer AT.
hello bro! I just wanna ask which car is better for off roading suzuki vitara all grip or subaru xv? can you make a comparison
One of if not the best 4x4 car in its price segment.
I have one question - how would you compare it to Nissan Qashqai?
I think Nissan may have also good 4x4 drive. I heard, same Nissans, but older(previous version) 4x4 is used in Dacia and it is not bad.
Issue is that some years ago only top(most expensive) version of Nissan Qashqai had 4x4.
It was much more expensive in comparison with Vitara. Not sure how is it now.
Probably even used Nissan with 4x4 will be rare.
@@OutdoorAdventure0 thanks for reply. So I guess, if you want better/bigger 4x4 crossover, than Suzuki - prepare at least 10K more)
Hello, im thinking on getting the same car with the same engine. Is it reliable? how about the turbo? thank you. great videos
@@OutdoorAdventure0 thank you for the reply! this is very helpfull!
@@OutdoorAdventure0 Found out in your videos I think. Hill descent only works while in Lock mode
I was trying today and you can use Hill Descent when road down is not bumpy. When some bumps any way you need to limit speed much more.
And yes HD word only in Lock mode. Otherwise it blinks.
which app do you use for degrees?
"Angle Meter" on Android. Probably any other will do same good. Simple and effective.
Are you using snow or lock driving settings?
Lock definitely, than you have hard locked 4WD from start.
@@OutdoorAdventure0 thanks, I missed when you said it. I watched some other video where the driver had more luck on icy and snowy road with snow setting and esp off than with lock, do you have any thoughts when comparing the two settings?
@zivotastefanovic6923
Every mode has a bit different characteristic.
Hi,
Thanks.
0-100 kph I have in plan.
Real power measure I will think about it.
Generally it mostly doesn't fail me regarding power, but I have no good comparision.
Can you share some of the speculation? I own a 4sport allgrip and don’t have a single negative thing to say about the performance …
Surprisingly it was ok. I only touched a little of snow on top edge by the under car. And of course speed cannot be to high not to hit ground with front bumper.
Is this the "Galactic Gray + Cosmic Black Pearl" color option?
Bottom part is Galactic Grey, upper, I don't have it written in any document, but for sure Black. Would feet for me for name Cosmic Black Pearl - not very deep black in fact.
@@OutdoorAdventure0 do they do diesel and 4wd 4x4
In Poland they have completly withdrew Diesel few years back. Not sure if 5 years ago there was Diesel with 4x4. But I dont recall any limitation on this. Not sure about rest of Europe. But probably only hybrid will remain soon anyway.
@@OutdoorAdventure0 Thank you. I ordered the same color (the new 1.4 allgrip hybrid).
@@octap79 Good choice:) It looks really nice. Congrats:)

Kar lastiği takmamış sanırm. ESP kapatmamışsınız.
Kar Lastiğimi taktım. Ancak ESP'yi kapatmayı unuttum (Yanlış hatırlamıyorsam).
Vitara is the best
True! ;)
👌
Jęsli do jazdy za gościem w osobówce na asfalcie, no to zawsze możesz go poprostu wyminąć. ;)
You have medium off-road good for SUVs and hard offroad good for Nissan Patrol or other better suited cars. This film is about climbing slippery hill with SUV.
In deeper snow, i.e. 20 cm it is handling better than in such conditions as here, as he has more to grip.
