I graduated HS in 1985 , and I remember this duo. Everyone secretly thought with such great chemistry that these two had a 'thing' , but alas they were just that good of friends, nothing more. Sure they loved one another, but kept it professional, RIP Kenny
I did see Kenny's face lit up, it seemed that he didn't know that Dolly was there and singing. He also let the mic slip in his hand. I believed that he called her to come and she surprised him.
This is one of Bob Seger’s songs. He put it out in the late 70’s & it was a hit. Different artists have covered it but in the 80’s Kenny Rogers & Sheena Easton in the mid 80’s I think & it blew up to be a big hit yet again. I love watching them together.
Sheena Easton originally sang the song with him...I love Dolly when she said "who needs Sheena Easton" lol....love their version together!!!! and I love Dolly's laugh and they both have a sense of humor....and yes youngin'...lol...I graduated HS in 1985
I'm 48 and I am completely taken with these reaction videos of a younger generation experiencing and appreciating something that has for so long been a wonderful part of my life. It's mesmerizing to see a person's face go blank or frozen at some of these beautiful moments of performance art. It is like seeing history repeat itself when you see someone get the same chills you did over 3 decades ago.
My mum took me to see her live in Glasgow in 2011 and she was soooooooooooooooooo amazing. Her personality is so infectious. She's a ton of fun without being a time waster - did the whole show herself with band and no support act. She played so many different instruments and explained the songs again without seeming like it was wasting time. She is awesome. Saw Kenny a few times and he was always good too.
Their videos always have such great chemistry. I would have loved seeing them live. Dolly has an amazing sense of humor and her mind is always just a bit in the gutter!
You must watch and listen to their great video of “You Can’t Make Old Friends”. Recorded just a few years ago, it is such a beautiful song. It also shows them talking about their decades long friendship.
"but they do now!" I'm wheezing 😂😂😂😂 I love your reactions, they're so natural and funny. And you appreciate talent regardless of the time period or music genre.
I was 12 in 1985. And agreed, I am so glad we have video of these things. It's the only way we can go back, and introduce people of the future to these moments.
I was 6 years old in 85, and my mom was a huge Kenny, and dolly fan, and I remember watching this concert with her on a VHS tape and it is still one of my favorites!!! Great reaction, as always ❤️
I love this song...see the part when dolly sings...deep in my soul and Kenny's face just changed, and so full of love. They sre so full of feelings. I love them♥♥♥
I graduated also in 1985.. they were just Besties.. such love for each other and great vocals together.. RIP Kenny... My 1984 Prom was Kenny and Dolly Islands in the Stream.. lol
I graduated grammar school in 1985 and I remember this duo! Dolly is such a treasure: her "Who needs Sheena Easton?" quip was hilarious! BTW: I love Sheena Easton.
I appreciate you reacting this video I just love these as individuals but together they have the most infectious chemistry. I can’t stop smiling when I’m watching these two together. Thanks for sharing. Peace and Blessings to all.
Billy, in the middle of the Vietnam war, Kenny wrote and released a song “Ruby, don’t take your love to town”, about a vet. It would not be played today because of a certain line in the song. I would love to see your reaction, keeping in mind the time period the song was released.
I was 7 in 85. I've been watching these two all my life and they had some of the best stage chemistry I've ever seen. When you're performing with a lady, you need to let her shine. I've had the chance to preform with several, and it can be an amazing experience. These two had it down perfectly.
I was 12 in 1985. Loved him with Sheena Easton on this song, but Dolly’s a great second. Kenny really did have some amazing duet partners over the years, and the man could create chemistry out of thin air with all his leading ladies.
I loved Kenny Rogers! Yes, I was in high school in 1985... Kenny came to the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and it was one of his best performances EVER!!! RIP Kenny Rogers 🙏🏽♥️
You are a superb reviewer/commentator. Great job! Enjoyed your reaction to this Dolly and Kenny performance. Thank you so much. (Posting this on my Facebook page.)
I love how effortless they both are with their singing and movements. So many performers just try too hard now. Walk out on a stage, stand, and sing. And everyone loves it.
There will never be another duet like Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. I was 15 in 1985. Gonna be 50 in November I’m. It ashamed of my age but we had the best music back in the day. Sending love your way billy.
I just happened to trip along this video while going down that RUclips rabbit hole. Completely out of my algorithm too. I mean I love Dolly and Kenny but this was un expected. And this made me smile. Much love to the reaction channels. You got a sub from me. Can't wait to see what's next over here. And I'm a Nolife, AOK, Simba veiwer. as well as many others. you made the rotation, bro
At 7:40 where Dolly jokes about her dress, she made a similar joke during the first episode opening of her tv show The Dolly Show in 1987. After the opening song, she told the audience what she hoped to offer them. "For you ladies, I'm going to be wearing some pretty spectacular gowns. And for you men, . . . I'm going be wearing some pretty spectacular gowns." (accented with her sweet country girl giggles) Really enjoyed your reaction on this duet. Most assuredly Dolly Parton is a National Treasure.
Hey Billy ….. Much appreciation for this video upload ! The original version was with Sheena Easton in "83" but in "85" I turned 18yrs. . This song brings back some really great memories .
Sheena Easton was who Kenny origianly did this song with. It was a huge hit. Dolly makes more jokes about herself than anyone else possibly could. One of her famous quotes is (talking about herself) "it takes a lot of money to look this cheap". lol
Billy i have done Karaoke for many years and i have sang so my Kenny Rogers songs it took me a min to learn it. And many more country stars i was practicing 4 to 5 hour days every day my buddy had a karaoke business.
I got lucky enough to be able to take my mother to see Kenny Rogers in concert like 10 years ago. It broke our hearts when we heard he had passed away. I was 12 years old when they did this show.
I love Kenny & Dolly. They have both been my favorite country singers along with Garth Brooks. I was 14 in 1985. My parents went to their concert. Love your reaction videos. Some bring back so many memories of great artists from the past. Keep them coming :)
I was 4 years old in 1985. I too never got the opportunity to see Kenny and Dolly perform together in concert. At least, we have videos like these to watch.
This song is so beautiful I read and heard Dolly tribute to Kenny Roger's and she laugh she cried and she said those manic words I Will Always Love You it was touching so was Vince Gills
Kenny did many duets w/ people like Sheena Easton, Dolly Parton, Kim Carnes, Ronnie Milsap. I even saw him when he hosted the CMA awards in 1984 he sang the song "What About Me" with Crystal Gayle and Bill Medley. I was a freshman in HS in 1985.
I was 11 yrs old when this was new. Tremendous talent....such a joy to behold! Its very sad that the great legends of the 20th century are now leaving us....i love todays technology, but miss the social graces of those days....😔
I was 5-6yrs old when this version came out. Not only was Kenny Rogers a great singer, he was also a pretty good actor as well. In the 80's he starred in a movie called The Gambler and he also starred in a movie called Wild Horses (a very hard movie to find nowadays).
Dolly and Kenny sang to great together and best friends and saw Dolly crying at the passing of Kenny they love each others friendship both great both legends and Kenny RIP with our loving God now
In a tribute concert that premiered on A&E for Kenny Rogers, Kenny said in an interview that their relationship between the two of them wasn't a romantic but their relationship was more of a brother/sister teasing kind.
I graduated HS in 1985 , and I remember this duo. Everyone secretly thought with such great chemistry that these two had a 'thing' , but alas they were just that good of friends, nothing more. Sure they loved one another, but kept it professional, RIP Kenny
Listening to Kenny and Dolly reminds me of being a kid listening to what my dad played on record.
Dolly sang this with him for this performance, but it is a duet of Kenny and Sheena Easton. I love Dolly, but you should check out the original also.
I was going to say that but u be as t me to it
This isn’t originally a duet. This is a Bob seger song
Did you see Kenny's face light up on Dolly's first note? Love it
I was listening to Kenny Rogers when he was with the First Edition.
I did see Kenny's face lit up, it seemed that he didn't know that Dolly was there and singing. He also let the mic slip in his hand. I believed that he called her to come and she surprised him.
I can't help but keep coming back to this video and reaction. It's so incredible!!
This is one of Bob Seger’s songs. He put it out in the late 70’s & it was a hit. Different artists have covered it but in the 80’s Kenny Rogers & Sheena Easton in the mid 80’s I think & it blew up to be a big hit yet again. I love watching them together.
That song needs a deep gravelly voice in the male role...like Seger's. Soooosexy
@@yorkiemom6144 nah Kenny blows Bob out of the water
They're best friends. My heart goes out to his family and his friends, like Ms Dolly. It really is hard when this happens.
Sheena Easton originally sang the song with him...I love Dolly when she said "who needs Sheena Easton" lol....love their version together!!!! and I love Dolly's laugh and they both have a sense of humor....and yes youngin'...lol...I graduated HS in 1985
Thank you for the info I wondered why she said that LOL
I graduated in 1985 also. That sometimes feels like eons ago and sometimes like just yesterday.
I noticed how Kenny backed away when Dolly said that, like he didn't want to have anything to do with it.
Dolly is always be Dolly. Maybe even Easton herself or her fans would just appreciate n have good.laugh
Me too , class of 85 in Charlotte NC
Dollys entrance is....EPIC!!!!
I was 17 in1985. Yes you are a baby. Appreciate the fact you enjoy OUR old people music.🤣

I graduated from high school in 1970 so I’m 70 years old! I’m loving your reactions. Thanks for the smile 😊 🎸🔥❤️☮️👵🏼

Actually ruby was a song first recorded by mel tillis. The first time kenny sang the song was with the first edition.
I was 7 in 85. I've been watching these two all my life and they had some of the best stage chemistry I've ever seen. When you're performing with a lady, you need to let her shine. I've had the chance to preform with several, and it can be an amazing experience. These two had it down perfectly.

Kitt Crescendo He had a great way of giving his duet partners their spotlight time and sharing it with them
I was 9 when this song came out. Listening to him sing takes me back to when I was a kid and my mom playing his albums all the time.
I loved Kenny Rogers! Yes, I was in high school in 1985... Kenny came to the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and it was one of his best performances EVER!!! RIP Kenny Rogers 🙏🏽♥️

I was a freshman in high school in '85. Loving your Kenny reactions, I subbed, can't wait for more.
I just want to say, I just found you Billy 6.19.20 and I was in a bummed mood and you lifted me up with all these songs
Now a day’s everybody would be offended by that joke and they would want to end his career.Sad.
I wasnt even a pumpkin seed when this song came out! But I do love dolly and kenny
I love how effortless they both are with their singing and movements. So many performers just try too hard now. Walk out on a stage, stand, and sing. And everyone loves it.
Thanks for redoing the video.♥️

R.I.P Kenny Rogers
In 1985 I was a Sophomore in High School. This was a very popular slow song at the HS Dances.
