TYSM lambo, I can't wait to start implementing this into my own gameplay by trying to micro my drones for 2 minutes and forgetting to build anything else at the start of the game
I managed to somewhat master double drone split and make it consistently good, and also maintain correct saturation. It does not prevent you from dying from a stupid shit and sitting at your honest 3300-3600. ) Does not help against cannot rush as well.

I see that in order to accomplish the effectiveness of this new opener it's important to give more focus on drone splitting and micro otherwise is very hard to accomplish better timings. I would like to know your take on how this late overlord affects the anticipation against cheeses, mainly cannon rushes but also proxy barracks on close locations. I'll give more attempts to the 15 overlord 16 hatch method, now with this we get a full display of the execution. Thanks Lambo!
the 15 overlord doesn't change anything against cannonrush in my experience, it is a little harder to safely scout for proxy raxes with it however. I believe that is so minor that it's not an argument for 13 overlord however!
@@LamboSC2 Quick update: I've been trying to do the 3 way split and managed to make it but attepted the 4 way split and could never get it. The best I managed is to put the hatch on 00:34 but I can't make it consistent, I only make it 1 out of 5 attempts, alot of screwups, I guess it requieres alot of training and mouse precision. I noticed that with 0:34 hatch, the pool is 1 second earlier and Idk if this is correct but I may get away with making the first larva of the natural into a drone before making a ling for the ZvT matchup. I bet thats even more true with a 0:33 hatch. Would like to see you on stream :D

hey lambo! great video thanks! i use your knowledge a lot in my gameplay. i saw a video in zvt that the queen pops up just when the reaper arrives so you dont have to build the first 4 lings. how that idea compares to this hatchery?
I'm D3 player, I only able to safely build the first drone and split from 1 side. Not sure that that helps lol. If I try to split from 2 sides I mess all up and lose minerals instead. Not to mention that insane drone micro afterwords. Though I sometimes use 1 trick if I want to be greedy and don't lose 5 minerals. If I select a drone with minerals instead of move commanding to my natural I shift-rightclick him so I don't lose those 5 minerals or 3(?) gas.
Master 3, so far the best I can do is a high 45 using level 1. For me level 1 is hard enough, pairing workers on close mineral patches while making sure to make workers at exactly 50 minerals, setting camera location hotkeys, hotkeying Hatchery & overlords + sending out overlords where I want is enough multitasking for me.
Level 1: "build drones in a way that they arrive at the mineral patch just as a drone is leaving" Aight, imma head out. This is WAY above my paygrade and I'm afraid to see what's on level 5.
I always wondered why there wasn't more done to micro against the arrival deceleration, but I guess the impact is probably not worth the effort for most people at the end of the day
You didn’t mention the “gather” key. Without it, one baboon like me can click on the ground instead of in a mineral patch and have 4 drones idling for several seconds 😅
its like a 2-3 second difference, I dont think its crazy in any scenario, just an optimization to make things a bit cleaner and tighter for higher level players
disagree. 12 pool with ling flood it doesn't really matter. Maybe if you're playing 12 pool macro cheese but even still i feel like the interaction between you making lings and the opponent has more impact then the mining lead from workers
This sort of detail oriented StarCraft mechanics optimization is so gross to me. I want to be a badass general making key strategic and tactical decisions under great time pressure, and it’s frustrating to understand that things like this can play an important role in the outcome of 100 matches
you will never loose or win a game because you didn't micro or did micro your workers properly lol "badass strategic decisions" matter far FAR more then this.

@@unity243-x4q I've lost a game due to bad worker micro - I didn't micro at all and got extremely unlucky. The workers somehow triple stacked on the close patches and I was around 200 minerals behind at 3:30. That's enough for a mirrored zvz where their lings are on my third base before my lings are even done. That's at a reasonably high level of mid GM and it's the only game I can think of where it mattered. Most players won't notice it but on the off chance you get unlucky and you're playing a high enough level that effectively losing 2 drones is game losing, it's possible.

Nice. Do you see any benefit to shift-queuing the extractor trick drone so it doesn't decelerate when approaching the geyser?
Yes on maps where you have the minerals quickly enough that should be optimal, I'll try it from now on!
lol, whenever I get too fancy I end up raging at the workers for not stacking right and then mess up something important in the build.
At 7:05 that is what the AI programmed workers do. It's called speed mining, it does it with every worker, it's crazy to watch.

I believe Clem does the drone micro at level 5 a bit. PiG mentioned it in a cast recently, though I can't remember which one.

Took a bit of practice for me and maybe the right mouse sensitivity but eventually i got it

Have you tried to see how much of a benefit this gives for 12 pool? With 12 pool every second matters, zo the micro is propably a lot more effective
