I'm doing my research on Louisiana and licensing requirements. Louisiana is a bit confusing. Do private pay homecare agencies require licensing or is it only homecare agencies that receives state payments?

Hi Coach Michele I live in Michigan I started my agency back in March I currently have a potential client who will have services paid for by Medicaid I am licensed how do I go about setting up services so Medicaid pays for it? I called every number possible but they are not thorough about information
marissa motley IG you are an approved Medicaid provider you will need to follow to rules & regulations for the specific Medicaid program. If you are not an approved Medicaid provider you can’t service the client. Michigan is a non regulated state, however Medicaid is regulated. There are also different type of Medicaid programs so you must follow their system.

DCH regulates home care when you send individuals into the homes of individuals that need assistance.
I would recommend contacting them regarding the business model you have established. I’m not savvy in that model.

What type of license do i need
It depends on the state you are in...goggle “how to start a home care agency in ... state. Then select the appropriate link ie dept of health, human services etc.

It truly depends on your state’s requirements, however, I recommend everyone has a RN.
