It is cheaper and faster to import a commodity, which kills the local productions and while the local market dies, the imported products then determine the price of the product, which is usually on the high side. A case of rice is a good example. Imported rice cheapens the product, local producer can compete because of unfavourable conditions and the speed and quick acess to these imported rice, and don't forget that it is a cabal as usual responsible for the imports, and they are given free import duties too, how is a local farmers meant to compete with all this.
