- Some short clips from 2017 on my Volvo 242 with a SBC 409 V8.
8 stack and Holley HP EFI. Just trying it out on the roads here in Sweden! Next year it will be more testing and fun on the racetrack!
Edit: Due to engine failure this season (2018), I have no more content for the moment.. The V8 Volvo will be back for 2019 instead! Авто/Мото
I don't know where you're going but you sure seem to be getting there really quickly. LOL
Great Ride, Man.
This is what dreams are made of. That's my dream car I'm I'm swedish and love v8s it's the best combo ever
Haha thanks!! :D
True
I love a simple clean engine bay and interior.
The cracked windshield gives it a lot of street cred haha, very nice.
Hahah, thanks! Its not perfect😅
@@Ragnar242 and that's what makes it so cool 👍
@@neiljborja thanks alot!
Excellent. Paul Newman swapped a V8 into his Volvo. He would take guests to the Airport in it. Little did they know till it was too late.
They thought they were going to be late for their flight. The engine failure is unfortunate. 408in are great motors but not at higher RPM. I am building a similar motor using a 3.625 stroke and a 6.050 rod. Smokey Yunich detailed the engine in the 70's in Circle Track magazine. The 4-7 swap cam gives the engine a really nice sound. The throttle response with the 8 stack is perfect. Best Regards, Lance
I've read about Newmans Volvo, real sleeper. ;) I dont know wich 408 you are referring to? Mine is a 400 smallblock with bigger bore. That stroke/bore ratio is no problem with high RPMs. Interesting build! Smokey was a great man with many great ideas. The 4/7 swap makes it really sweet :) Thanks for the story and kind words. Best Regards, Mathias
@@Ragnar242 400 block with a forged 350 crank makes for a very rev happy engine 377ci. Although you will loose torque but the thing will rev 7K all day long Skip White claims 530hp from their 377.
@@GregHuston yes, but a 400 cui engine will rev even faster if you have cylinderheads that will allow the engine to flow up high. And more power 😉
@@GregHuston mine revs 7600rpms this year with better heads.
Very nice. I keep saying I'm gonna drop a small block in my s70...people think I'm joking but these cars have so much space in the engine bay. Inspiration
Nothing is impossible ;) Good luck!
This is glorious.
man of taste
Oh my...I need a moment to myself. :-D You need a LOT more tire on that thing. It's astounding how little throttle input will send that thing sideways. Beautiful car, very well done.
Thank you man!😁
That is SICK!!!!
Underbart! 240 + V8=❤
Tack! Haha ja det blir en match made in heaven ;)
Jäävlar va rapp den är! Snyggt gjort också👍💪
Ja det blir bra svar i grejerna med separata spjäll! :D Tack ska du ha!
awsome i need more of this and your car... Put upp more
Thanks! There is atleast one more video on my page with the uppgraded engine 👌 will upload maybe one more from last year, this year I havent driven it because im rebuilding the body. So more to come next year when its out on the roads again! 😃
Oh hell yeah!!!
What a great street car , nice build well done , just a question what is the cam in your engine, I'm looking to build something very similar with ITB's on a 393 windsor . I like how your car idles ... cheers
Wow that thing is fast!
Anuskasv0 haha its a funny car to drive!😅
small block chev itb manifolds I've seen have the runners paired up to match the port spacing on the head, but those seem to be straight.
Yeah, they make a turn inside the manifold on this one instead. But they are still paired up, just not as much, you can see that there are a straight cut in every velocitystack to not hit each other.
Did the downdraft efi come from AT Racing? Any leaks with using 6 bolts instead of the factory 12?
Nice job bud have you had any faults with speed master 8 stack? looking at get one myself. So I am not a big motor head was it easy to install
Thank you. No it works like a charm, but it isnt a bolt on kit. You'll have to build some kind of vacuum station, drill holes in the intake for air temp sensors and stuff like that.
saaataaan! You wanna give me some info on what you had to do other than swap the engine? Wanna put a v8 in my 245 one day
Nice! Been thinking about getting some vel stacks for my 240. Are individual air filters necessary?? Thanks for the video and any helpful answers on the air filter.
Thanks! I dont have individual airfilters, just two large filters on top of the trumpets. One filter is for 4 cylinders. So no, it isnt necessary!
@@Ragnar242 you, sir, have an incredible car and it sounds awesome!!!
Snyggt bygge, åke på samma vägar in fin Cruisade med Harleyn idag
Tackar! Hehe va gött då 😃
Holy shit!
Woooooooooowwwww....
fint bygge =)
Tack så mycket! :D
Wow
Helvete vad go!
Tackarr!!
How do you like that speedmaster injection? Has it been pretty reliable?
I like it alot, love the looks and the sound it makes. Havent had any problems with it yet!
Wow!
Great build! I just subscribed. Im building a 144 on my channel.
Thank you and thank you! :D I will check it out!
nice
It looks like you sped up the footage. sick build!
Haha! Thanks!
Great 👍
I have a 122s wagon 1967 would that be hard to put a chev v8 in it
Its been done before. I believe it will be a tight squeeze in, build custom headers and so on.
What is that Body color? Orangatange?
Dont know what its called actually, I believe its some kind of lambo colour, the old Diablo I was told. I bought the bodyshell painted.
Power?
Finns det någon byggtråd?, riktigt fint verka den gå!
Tack! :) Nej inte orkat med nåt sånt.. haha..
how much horsepower is it pushing out?
Around 600hp, havent been on the dyno yet
How wide is your radiator thks
Will need to come back for that answer.. 🧐
What injectors and what is you rev Limiteter
48lb/hr bosch injectors. Dont remember in this clip what the revlimiter was set at, but in my newer clips its set at 7600rpm
approximately how much did you spend on this beauty?
I have upgraded it every winter for some years now. So I didnt do it all in once, so the total amount of money I have spent on it, is hard to tell. And I'm not sure I wanna know anyway XD Haha
Mathias Andersson lmao, but do you think you spent more than 15000$
@@figgsatv2512 I would say somewhere around 15k - 18k.
2:23 Är detta vid landvetter? närmare bestämt vid husvagns handlaren?
Kan hända xD
I guess the power pulse cracked the windscreen?
No not really haha, the windshield is replaced now 👌 dont know what broke it
Wonder what it would be like if you made a sheet metal "hat" that fit each tube perfectly via a rubber boot like on a motorcycle and put twin turbos with a separate intake on each side of the front of the hat one turbo for each bank and just shove air and fuel down it's throat with a really hot spark plug and ignition system, play with the timing and air fuel mix with some special long tube equal length turbo headers stock compression heads custom ground cam to match it all... might as well since I'm dreaming anyway.
Haha.. then I would have to rebuild the whole engine, and Im not sure I want that much power that comes along with the turbos 🙈😅
@@Ragnar242 uugg you did rebuild the whole engine.halfway.
@@billbonu1639 ive rebuilt it several times, but not for boost 😅
@@Ragnar242 I was just wondering how a motor with hilborn injection and velocity stacks would do with the right plenum boosting each cylinder individually rather than boosting the whole intake in any vehicle or two big banks of mikunis off a bike mated to a custom intake on a V8 my mind just wonders like that not suggesting you rebuild your car but when I see stacks and stuff like that I'm automatically like "what if" no matter what car it's on.nice ride!! and I'm sure it has PLENTY of power just like it is!
And what exhaust dude? That thing sounds sweet
Haha thanks! Its a homebuilt exhaust, sidepipe with both pipes on one side. And ofc an X-pipe to catch that lovely tone.
Nice
What trans are you running behind that sbc?
Its a zf gs6-37dz from a bmw diesel. :)
How did u adapt it to the sbc pattern? Reason I’m asking is I’m gonna be doing a ls swapped drift car and I’m looking for a strong reliable trans on a decent budget
You cut the bellhousing and weld on the desired engines bellhousing on the tranny. Dont know how it works were you live, but in Sweden there is a couple of companys that work with this type of thing. You can order a zf gearbox with a desired bellhousing. Very popular amongst drifting people😊
What transmission are you using?
epicdaman3 Im using a ZF 6 Speed from a BMW diesel.
gs6-53dz?
Mathias Andersson how did you adapt that? I have a sbc in a 244 and need a new trans
How much hp?
I guess 450-500?
In this video, it had somewhere around 550hp.
What a badass ride. Have you done any mods for handling because it looks like it sticks pretty good. Were the headers a custom fabrication? Again a wicked ride!
Thank you! The suspension is upgraded with coilovers, swaybars, trailingarms, bushings, to name a few :) The headers is custombuilt by me hehe!
😉
Careful, it's going to suck your hand in!!!
haha!
is it for sale ?
No, it isnt 😉
Kör du i Hindås k och Landvetter
Härryda city 🤘😉
All this politics and who said what about whatever the hell fucking bullcrap but this is what RUclips is for. 👏👏👏
I'd invest in a new screen!
Neil Willetts haha yes thats on the list too! 😂
And possibly a roll bar.... absolutely gorgeous car
It's all fun and games...'til you hit a moose.
Yep, or a tyre explosion.. but until that, it's all fun ;)
I hit a moose with My Audi a6 Avant for about 15yrs ago, it was the only time I driven it in legal Speed...
I didn't see it and I didn't even have the time to lift My fot off the accelerator pedal (or what you call it in English)
Head on collision in 100km/h.
Broke My neck and My arm and had some more injuries, woke up at the hospital 2days later..
I still feel it in My neck every day 👎
So My advice: drive faster so they don't have the time to get up on the road☝😂
Nice built Volvo btw! Sounds sweet👍
Gees Mathias your a bit of a hoon. But I guess your a nice hoon because you drive a volvo. LOL
A car is much more than just the engine, the only few good looking volvo's is P1800, Amazon and 142/164, so you know :) But I like that engine!
Hehe okey.. Well i like the grp a 242, and thats the stance my car has i think, and find it pretty goodlooking. Just so you know.
@@Ragnar242 you should take away the spoiler and try to put wheels that looks more original, this 244 looks awesome for example: ruclips.net/video/f2NCGThMZLc/видео.html
@@danieleriksson1657 No, I should not. Like I said, its pretty goodlooking as it is. Those wheels looks like crap on that car for that matter.. And really nothing like original.
@@Ragnar242 This is how I would like to see a Volvo, for example this 142, clean nice and original feeling: ruclips.net/video/QP702APnwq0/видео.html
@@danieleriksson1657 then build one for yourself, and stop telling others what they should and shouldnt do with their cars..
Very cool except for the drifting. Drifting is for silly city jerks.
Thanks! Do you mean the burnout at the end? Its just all fun 😉 The main goal with the car is driving at the track.
When you put that much power into a Volvo, they spin the wheels. It's just what happens. That was not drifting, sir.
