i love how every so often rob just reinvents tom morello solos in increasingly whacky ways
It’s because his sound engineer looks like an off brand Tom morello 😂
Was thinking that if someone said this was an outtake from rages first album sessions then I would have believed them...
Funny since both are creative geniuses who re invent guitar techniques.
Drilling in the name of...
Exactly what i was gonna say man
"What should we call our band?"
"TOOLS"
"There's already a metal band named that"
"Ok,..it's HARDWARE then"
Home Depot The Band.
The Tim Taylor Trio. The Binford 9000s. Wilson Phillips Screwdriver. Makita and the DeWalts. The Milwaukee Sound Machine.
No there is a band called "Tool", so "Tools" is totally available lol
@@Dr_Satan Ok I bow to your naming creativity🙏😂
@@Dr_Satan 😄👍👍👍!
Drills against the machine
Now it’s drills on behalf of the machine (old joke but relevant).
Sounds like a song they would use on skateboarding b roll in the 90’s.
Accurate!
Next First of October album is just going to be drills and balloons ...
Affirming this prediction. We will watch this unfold with great anticipation
*edit* : spelling
My thoughts exactly.
Can't wait for the shenanigans
They definitely should bring more whacky stuff in the studio apart from usual guitars, drums and keys
you guys freaking nailed this one.
they drilled it
They didn't screw it up...
No, you hammerhead, now you screwed it up haha! :D
I want to reply before this becomes top comment.
@@itsgr755 same here
So basically this is if the intro to Van Halen’s Poundcake was a whole song… I love it
Or Unfed Pendulum
3:25 "that's not my drill" lines up perfectly with the drums
I own both these exact drills and have band practice tonight…… so yeah this is whats gonna be happening
Imma try it with a wah wah pedal and see what i get
Please film it! Haha
I'll try to find a way to send it to ya.
upload the video to youtube please :P
Pretty cool that y'all had the drive, got to the grind and hammered that out in 1hr! I figured you'd be screwed, but saw that you both nailed it! Nothing measures up to your talents, you're on a different level! 😁
that was good
*saw* is what did it for me
Actually it wasn’t a drive, it was distortion.
All the hardware puns
Underrated comment
Those drills still stay in tune better then our guitars.
Rob: We're gonna make a song using drills!
Mick Gordon: *laughs* *unpacks chainsaw*
Ha, I made a similar comment, but will be deleting it now. Well done
Tchaikovsky: "Amateurs."
Lmao
Man, the new RATM sounds great!
If you ever try this again, I think you could've controlled the pitch by putting a finger (or something else) on spinning plastic to slow the motor down. Or used the other gear (blue one had a switch one the top). Putting the torque limiter on could've given you some rhytmic clicking sounds. But that was aweasome job ! :D
Sure that was a torgue limiter? It looked a bit like a drill/screwdriver combo, so it could be the switch to flip the rotation
The switch on the top would just be the gear selector, it wouldn't affect the pitch of the motor. The rotatey thing behind the drill chuck is the clutch for, as OP said, limiting the torque. Put that on the lowest setting and grab the chuck for some clicky goodness.
I'll be honest I was hoping for some impact ugga duggas
Or use a dremel…
it's confirmed everyone! "the tone is in the battery" the music shop hippie was right after all
TRUE industrial rock.
We make music with power tools.
This is like if Primus/Incubus and Paul Gilbert did a jam.
These videos with Jessica are rad man, you guys come up with a lot of funky stuff on the spot. Your videos are always the best Rob 🙌
Never imagined dude would start making drill music.
I love Jessica. She's a genuine hero of mine. THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE OF US! GIVE US MORE FEMALE DRUMMERS WORLD!
❤️🚀
Nope. The world needs good drummers. Their gender should be irrelevant. But if you're more concerned with what's between a drummer's legs instead of their playing, says all we need to know about you.
@@samus88 very nuanced take will, thanks
Agreed. Favorites of mine include Hayley Cramer of Pop Evil and Pau Villarreal Vélez of The Warning.
Sorry that other turd-for-brains found your comment. Keep crushing it!
I love how you kept the Philips driver and socket in the drills.
tone-socket
It's been great seeing a lot of Jessica on the channel lately - you two definitely spark off each other's creativity, not to mention the fact that she's an awesome drummer!
these are awesome, and the drummer is KILLING IT! 👏👏
this is amazing, would listen to a whole drill album
the song to me really just sounds like the type of song that Rage Against the Machine would do.
Yeah i felt like that too.
Brings a whole new meaning to industrial metal
I love the synergy of everyone involved
I didn’t think this was a hit until I heard all the drills talking at the hardware store the other day, man they LOVE this song!🤘
i suppose this brings a whole new meaning to drill music
This crew is really fun to watch. Great video!
Rob you're (imo) one of the best musicians on RUclips. Simply because you're so creative. You produce quality content in funky and fun ways. Love your work!
Love the new style of videos coming out! Love ya rob def some of my inspiration to pick up my bass for the past 7 years!
U guys are freaking amazing
Props to the sound engineer making it all work.
This was INCREDIBLE!
love it !
That was AMAZING!!!!! Really hope this comes to Spotify 😏✅
Love your content! Always excited for some classic rob content! 😀
That was awesome! Way better than I imagined it could be
As usual, very well done!
Friend: so what do you play
Me: ✨DRILL✨
this Is the best song you guys have come up with instruments that are not meant to be instruments. I love this!
I love how often Jessica is coming on the channel now!
Did she come?
Actually sounds like something I'd listen to, you guys smashed it
Imagine a series where they progressively do increasingly wacky stuff on guitar pickups and they end it with a collab with electronicos fantasticos.
Wouldn't that blow y'all mind
Really impressive! A new genre!
This just gives me Buckethead vibes 🥰
So cool!
Those are awesome. Spike Jones would be proud of you. Also, GREAT drumming, Jessica.
This drills my mind
Nice, this is very fitting content for unstable 2022
Some great drill music here
Music is awesome.
This is so much better than I thought it would be from the title and thumbnail. 🤘
I didn't realize how much I've been wishing for another Rage Against the Machine album until now!
These "found instrument" experiments are great!!!
I didn't expect drill beats on this channel but I'm glad to see you branching out.
make drill beats with a drill
That was impressive af
Holy smokes. Totally ddnt expect that level of badassness.
Edwin from Shrockra played drill through his bass live quite a bit in the early '90s. Fun stuff.
I wanna hear this on Spotify lmao, I'd genuinely listen to this
This reminds me of Savage Aural Hotbed, a Minnesota band I used to go to see a lot when I lived there in the mid 90s. They used a ton of "found instruments", one of which was a drill. Check out their song "two stage trigger". It was made with a drill that had, well... a two stage trigger, so it had a medium speed and a full speed they could use to get two different notes.
I looked up some videos of that band and they are amazing lol
You know the drill 😎
The new and improved record skip sound!
There was a band I used to go watch frequently in the late 90s called Yolk, and they had a song where they used a toy drill over the pickups for the intro. Was a pretty cool sound too.
BADASS!!!!
🤟, you know the drill
Sick
Every time I hear a drill in a song, it throws me back to iPod classic days playing Vortex. It has Arc of the Noid by D.B. Walker as background music and it's amazing. (Has drills in it obviously haha)
Could definitely see a band incorporate this for one song a set. Of course, a big and flashy battery change should also be accompanied by a key change
Now THIS is Chicago drill
Wow this is actually quite good
To cool !
This is so clever goes hard
lowkey goes hard af
I could hear this in a Jetset Radio meets Tony Hawk style game. I like it!
"You Know The Drill" perfect name for the song.
I really love the drill slide ! (I never thought I'd say this)
This had a real Primus vibe to it.
If you use a plug in drill that goes into a wall socket it might be interesting because those tend to be higher power and you might be able to get a constant pitch.
I'm convinced you have the most Wholesome music channel on RUclips
I was hoping for this, and I am _not_ disappointed.
I also wonder if there's a good way to dynamically affect the pitch, like scratching against different surfaces.
Really liking the sound of the new direction of rage against the machine
Yo this is funking sick
Hi Rob, any chance you could do the sound engineer's perspective or at least a retrospective on how they help you guys sound so good. Feel like there's a whole aspect to this mess and tricks they're doing to elevate the piece that we just straight up miss.
I loved 👏👏👏🎶🎶🎶🎶
Classic Rob, being the most creative youtube musician on the platform.
You never cease to amazing me haha
i love industrial music
The thumbnail is godly
Needed a whammy pedal on those drills, could hit some mean saw bass...
I love drill.
I was waiting for them to attach a pick to the end of the drill bit
Rad as hell
You should do another one where you treat the drills like drone instruments!
This sounds like the background music of any Command&Conquer or Red Alert video game. Frank Klepacki would be proud.
Rob and Jessica rock
More!!
This is just RHCP and I like it!
