What’s crazy is people keep buying them as fast as they can make them, so manufacturers will continue to raise prices every year. Supply and demand. People aren’t cutting back demand.

Sounds like an improper install on the first lower unit. Hot horn went off right after the lower unit swap.

My opti left me for the first time Friday. I got a constant 6 second alarm about 30 seconds after I started my motor but everything seemed ok until I got about 10 miles from the landing and it shut down on me. I had that gut feeling it was going to happen and it did. It’s the oil reservoir sensor I think. Of course all the places are called Friday doesn’t have it.
So the $25K damage will be chalked up as mystery designation status. 😂
New power head, new lower unit.

Makes you wonder if the water pickup tube wasnt lined up properly on the new gear case. Not trying to bad mouth the dude who brought it out, but a little interesting that after the lower unit is swapped, toure getting alarms.

Keep the content coming! It seems you have had some rough luck with motors? Be honest…. Are they just junk or are you that rough on them?
Covid motors unqualified people making them
I mean, outside of hitting things with the lower unit, it’s hard to be too rough on the motors after the break in period. I don’t think any of the brands have great QC these days.
@@MillikenFishingso what exactly was the failure? Sure a new powerhead but did they tell you what went?
Fish the weed line and then the first drop off and then the space in between the docks. Then move to the 2nd drop and the Space in-between the weed line and the drop next. 3rd fish prominent cover and ditches if they aren't in staging areas. Then Fish docks last. If that doesn't work fish depth. Only fish docks you know have big fish on them 1st before all this if you know they wont be there later. Then fish staging areas. Work Shoreline based on wind and temp; but only if you prefish because the fish might be in a different part of the stage. So be prepared to flip and rig last to pull fish out of hard cover or top cover. As a last resort use search baits such as jerk baits or spinnerbaits variants because fish might be in transition to a different area(s) due to pressure. Topwater.
Just go out there and do what you do best. Can not belive how big Max is now.

Sounds like when the foot got changed the water pickup tube was not hooked up but you could see if that motor was peeing or not just my thoughts

Both lower unit oil and engine oil were replaced prior to running the new lower.

Man I wouldn’t stay overnight in Decatur Alabama if we were in a zombie apocalypse and that was the only place without zombies! That place is the damn capital of getting shit stolen! I would travel a bit to the shoals area or stay over towards Athens or rogersville! I live 15 minutes west of Decatur so I know how it is over there. Just terrible.

Pickwick, Wheeler and Wilson are dead due to the constant tournament pressure. Those embodiments in the 80,90,2000s are not the same as today. Alabama should have took a lesson from Texas.

For the price of all these engines they break a lot all brands. But y'all do run the crap outta them. Going 70 mph at almost wide open throttle 60 miles up river sometimes just ain't good

They don't make em like they used too. Also he runs hard. Bust mostly they don't make em like they used too.

Mine has 500 + hrs.
Service it myself. Replaced the water pump impeller and thermostat 3 times, lower unit seals ( very important ) to prevent saltwater in the gearbox.
2 stroke but great motor compared to other brands i have owned.
