You know, something about a choir of computer generated spacemen somehow makes this iteration feel completely different. The original is nostalgic and comfortable, something about this version feels a lot more melancholic, though not unpleasant.
I could not agree more. The original is great to listen and relax to, and this version gives me tingles whenever I listen to it.
Yeh I hear what you mean as I could see this being a theme for a robot coming to terms with it self that it’s just a machine and will eventually out live everyone organic he makes bonds with
I think it's cause it sounds more human. A piano sounds nice at times, but I don't think it has the ability to really make you relate to the music, for that I think a section of musicians, maybe brass, strings, or choir is needed. I think it's longer, warmer tones that it relatable to human emotion. A piano is normally cold, a bass can be warm, but a choir will almost always be warm by default, is what I've come to expect.
oastys really pushing the tts to its full potential. it sounds really good to the ear even if it is a joke.
It reminds us of the good old days that we will never return to. To the times when things were simpler and imperfect. Just like this rendition. It's very low fidelity.

Truthfully I had a real rough start to the year from my girl of 6 years leaving me, work taking it's toll and the stresses of being an adult. I miss being young and playing football that hearing this brought back memories of me laying in a park for hours staring at the clouds go by and the wind blowing that hearing this made me close my eyes and I ended crying by tears of joy of all the fond memories as a kid and even into my teens. This is a beautiful piece and reminded me that we live in a beautiful world and to make time to have a lazy afternoon to release the stresses of life.
living forever has gotcha covered: relive every second and it doesnt gave to stop, since you cant die, you can eat as many of the snacks you had then, or not eat at all and lay on the grass. that griemd of yours called to go on a bike ride. you cant go outside the backyard. you get hungry, you don't have the money. you want to lay there in the grass, you have school today. this is when you tealise that things were crap back then. your memory has decieved you. you want to go back. it was better in the present. that nostalgia was only for 1% of what your past life was like. but if you can pull it off, you can make right now 100% great. and live in today forever. and you can have as many lazy afternoons as you want. play videogames until morning. but you're lonely. you invite your friends. they can play with you forever. this is what everypne truly wants in the future

I just had a moment
I was having a minor panic attack, from an overwhelming amount of work and some other reasons, and I needed some music to calm me down. Music, in all reality, has a huge effect on my mood (not like that’s unique to me.)
I landed on the 2.5 Version it Lazy Afternoons, and it was calming. But...I saw this video a while back, and listening to the original...I wanted to hear this one again, ironically.
I think because of what the song means, and what this MBA Rendition does to it. The song is about better times, when we were all young and careless. Without any worry besides what we were gonna do next, and how looking back on it makes us wish for it again.
Ironically, this captures that feeling very well for one reason: It’s childish. It’s silly, it’s dumb, it’s all around just hilarious. And...that tone combined with the actual song...
I couldn’t help but smile. A real smile, one I often don’t see on my face.
So yeah. Smile more, everyone. Doesn’t matter what makes you smile, just don’t forget to. And don’t forget why our childhoods are remembered so fondly, and smile from that, too.
Around when I was making this, my life was probably at its worst. I can't remember why I chose this song, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was for that very reason. Thanks for sharing, I'm glad it's done good.

I don't know how, maybe it's the choir-like supporting voices making up the bass lines, but this almost sounds warmer than the original track. Incredible work, Oast. Going on loop for sure

This song has been through hell and pandemic with me; from High-School internship to graduation, from gaining new personality to losing the best thing i had in my old personality. And now I'm about to be engaged this month. Wish I still had my original copies of the PS2 KH games :(. Repurchased them recently on Mercari, and they're all first prints so they have the colored manuals that come with the key art near the back of the booklet, as well as the shiny cover art, same as the ones I had when I was younger. Though they're not in such pristine conditions as the copies I had back then, they're still in decent enough condition to be pleasent to look at and not be an eyesore, it's nice to have them again in some capacity regardless.
I hold a deep sentimental value to the original PS2 releases regardless but it just feels like something's off what with them not being the copies I owned as a child.
Also I recently bought a 23" Hitachi from an extended family member and my own SCPH-50001 model PS2 as well since the one I played these on as a child was my brother's, and it's been long gone and broken. I wonder where it is now. Regardless I finally have a PS2 I can call my own after 10+ years and I plan to keep this thing working regardless of if I need to buy new parts or whatever else.
Sadly KH2 doesn't work so I'll have to get it resurfaced at a game store I know in Utah when I visit next, hopefully they can salvage it. Same goes for KH1, haven't tested it yet but the disc looks just as bad as KH2 so I'm just assuming it'd be the same situation. Thankfully I at least have the HD collections, a working first print PS2 copy of Re:CoM, and a working Greatest Hits Ver. of KH1 I bought at a local thrift shop fairly recently.
I don't really know why I typed all this out since it's not like it's all that interesting or out of the ordinary, but I always get sentimental when it comes to the original PS2 releases of the KH games, and doubly so when I hear Lazy Afternoons, since it just reminds me of the former.
In any case if you read this all the way through than thank you for taking the time out of your day to hear me out, as trivial as it was. Thanks.
Also this rendition is pretty banging, joke rip or not, idk, but it reminded me of a unique feeling of euphoria I haven't felt in quite a while, hell as much if not more than the original version if I'm being honest, as fleeting as it may be, it's still a nice feeling to remember even if it doesn't last. It reminds me that even if I can't relive or experience the exact same carefree joy I felt as a young child, I can at least remember the feeling and smile while I reminisce on old times, and that is one thing that makes waking up each day worth doing.
My comment's more than likely super cheesy, and my future self is probably going to cringe in embarrassment stumbling upon my own comment in the future, but regardless thank you for uploading this.
