Thanks for all the good info! I haven't used the ones from the co-op, but I do use metal ones only. When i first started i used plastic, never again. I utilize an 8 gang valve and a Hyyger air pump for 3 tanks in one room. I love how the metal ones allow me to change how much air goes to each tank, where there are at least 2 sponge filters in each. Great video man keep it up! 🐌❤
I use the metal ones for when they need to be mounted somewhere. I use the gang valve version though. And then I use the ziss ones for valves that is placed mid line. I find them abit easier to finetune :)
This is awesome you put out this video! I was actually just thinking about how I wish I could fine tune the metal air valves! You answered the question that’s been on my mind. I will be running the Ziss air valve midline now
@@WeldonTanks seriously it has. I just finished building my closed-loop air system and tapped 4 metal valves for 4 tanks. Was left pondering how do I adjust the airflow to each tank. Now I know!
I’m building my first air system in my apartment and thinking of running both as you suggested for fine tuning. For the metal valves what tap did you use for the PVC?
Standard drill bit of the correct size. I would have to go back and watch videos to give you an exact size. I would put the metal valve in the chuck of the drill and tap it into the pre drilled hole
I have now tested the metal valve with water and it works great. If you were to use the Ziss valve on a low pressure system I think you could control the drop rate without issue
I'm glad someone can finally admit that the ziss in the mainline isn't the way to go ... i tried it. With 60 of them unfortunately, going to switch over to the metal ones as they thread into the holes I made for the ziss .. i used a slightly smaller bit than what everyone recommends for the ziss because there was too much play for me. Fortunately the metal ones will thread into it properly
@@WeldonTanks just try putting one in where you have a ziss now and make sure the hole you used isn't too big...im glad I drilled smaller ones. If so it wouldn't be terrible to switch them all over... but i get it, I have the new valves but haven't done it just because its a tedious task for sure.
Great video. I haven’t used these yet since I’m running my 4 tanks in different rooms but this will be good to know if I can ever convince the wife to get a full fledged fish room. With the never clog air stones and the usb air pumps from aquarium co-op I may get my hands wet but they can be dialed in a bit for surface agitation. Do you use the metal valves for drip acclimation?
Awesome. I thought I remembered seeing you guys use that when you acclimated the discus in his new tank. I may have to order a pack on my next order so I can use them for that. It would make it a lot easier to get the right flow on the drip.

Thank you! My next build will utilize the metal ones for ease of use.
@@WeldonTanks looking forward to it!
There could be some big things coming next year. We will see how things play out
What's the size of the air tube for stainless steel splitter?
When I ran my fish room, I had metal valves for the PVC pipes, and then a mix of the Ziss and generic plastic valves mid line.

Glad to hear this helped at least one person!

Thanks for the rundown! Ordered some of your metalhead guppy fry from ourfishcollective the other day. Can't wait to see them!
Rikostan Thank you for the order! They will ship out Monday
Thanks for that detail explanation which was the exact recommendation I was after👍🏽🙂
I am glad my nerd level helped you get the answers you needed
Hey, I can use this valve for a betta drip system? Don’t know if it works as good with water too. Thanks!

@@WeldonTanks thanks for the reply, I will try with the Ziss and if it’s not as I expect then I will change to the other one. Great video btw!

MarlinChaser 87 I am debated on switching everything over. My next build will definitely use the metal ones.

I found that the metal ones fit into the holes I drilled. Just timing and cost

The metal valve can be used for drip acclimation. Guppy guru taught me that one

I have plans to show it better in an upcoming video
Wel-Don Tanks Thank you that would be great.
Thanks for this video. It really helps me.
For the metal type there are both barb in the market
I use the metal ones!😊😊
Co2 control steel valve yes / No
I would not recommend the metal valve for that purpose.
Very cool video bro👍
Let me guess, Aquarium CO-OP sell them
Aquarium Co-Op does sell both of them yes. Believe I compare cost for each in the video
