I retired from living in Maryland and moved to Aiken SC 2 years ago. Aiken is the best place to retire on the East Coast, and it has a long railroad history, having been laid out as a railroad town in 1835 on the old line from Charleston to Augusta. That line seems to have predated the B&O Railroad, but nobody in Maryland ever speaks of it. The current short line goes through my back yard. I enjoy watching and hearing those big green engines climbing up the hill from Warrenville to get up town to the industrial areas. Before I watched this video, I didn't know what industries they served. Nicely done video.

Lived in Aiken from January 2011 through September 2016. It's a great retirement area. I always enjoyed watching the Aiken Railway.
Nice! Never heard of this railway.
I think that it came into existence in 2013. Before then NS engines were used. This frees them up.
Awsome video I didn't know Aiken had there own railroad Neat Engine Thanks
Nice
Great stuff!
I haven’t seen them use 4201 yet
BTW, it's Levels Church Rd, not Lewis Church Rd, but a great video.
Weren’t these locos meant to provide passenger service from Aiken to Savanna?
What horn is that a k3la?
