Thanks for all your work on this excellent informative and entertaining vlog. V. helpful too as I’ve been considering becoming a volunteer . All thebest Harry 👍🕊️👌
Great question! There is a laundry room on the ship for the crew with about 15 washers and dryers. When you want to do laundry all you need to do is sign up for an open time slot and you're good to go!
I had to look up what a "top sheet" is. If you think you need it, try peeling off the duvet cover and washing it 😉 If you still think you need it, consult a neurosurgeon 😆 Great tours!
Last year, I took my daughter to serve on a YWAM base in Papua New Guinea for 2 weeks, it was awsome. In a year or 2 , I want to something simular with 2 of my boys. YWAM is a great way for familys to serve short term , but I still would love to have another go at Mercy Ships in a few years.
My understanding is that long-term crew can apply to receive a small stipend. It's not quite enough to support dependents back home, but it is helpful to cover the cost of health insurance and travel expenses.
Typically when we're in port the internet is very good 👍 When we're sailing it's usually not very good.. but our schedule is unique and we only sail a few days at a time and normally only a couple times a year 😎
We do have a satellite connection that works even during the sail. If we have a fibre connection or an point to point antenna in port that of course helps with the bandwith we share with everybody on board. At the moment (Dakar) we have a pretty good connection. The wifi coverage on board the GLM is very good and usually you can even walk around the ship and not drop out of a call.
Hi! The Global Mercy will be back in Dakar in 2023. And our patient selection team is working to find patients from The Gambia too for this field service!

Thank you for this. It was pretty expository. Meanwhile, how do you do your laundry?

We miss them too! We're staying pretty busy with the work we're doing now - but hopefully we can make some more before too long:)

Thanks for the tour! But now I am curious as to the function of the knob that no one knows what it does? Please let us know if you can find out.
You're welcome! Haha! Good idea, maybe we should make a video about solving that mystery!
My dream
Hello. Do u get a stipend or a salary to support yourself or dependants left back home

Do you have internet access? Only in port?
