If I had 1 mini- gripe about the game it is the lighting. Don't get me wrong, I love the dynamic lighting where just holding a source lights up an area, but the thing that gets me is that holding a light is 1 light level, but putting it Doreen immediately makes it dimmer, always feels like I need more light.
I think the lighting thing is more of a glitch or technical issue than a design choice. It's because different code handles block light vs held light (aka dynamic light), and this is by necessity. I'm going Tyron makes some changes to block lighting to make it feel brighter, even if it's still technically the same light level.
I loved your drifter impression at the end, made me giggle, and I really enjoy the walkie talkie journeys too as VS is such a beautiful game. The front entrance to the hobbit hole looks perfect as well...but you knew that already.

A slopping hill on the back, and some pillar mountains that break away to the sea on the front (50%water 50%landmass in settings) and a hill in the center towards the pillars. I shorred up the sides of my hill, and put up fences against the wall to pen all the pigglets, lambs, and chickens (there were a lot of animals in that lil valley). Then I just dug out the bottom of the hill to make into a cellar, and I'm trying a design where I have my pitkilns, cooking pots, and ovens along the same wall, so I can focus on cooking and making pottery to put in the second floor of the cellar where I put all the shelves. Right now, my original hut on top has slowly been transitioning to the blacksmith room, I'll probably put the windmill up there and move my home downstairs and build a extension onto the side that doesnt have a pen. $100 for [good] VR is not going to happen in out lifetime I would argue that even the 4090 is not good enough for "good" VR ... I say its going to be like 10-15 [20-60 years] more GPU generations [assuming current speed growth before we could get truely good VR with a GPU that costs less than a grand... then there's the VR headsets themselves... well lets just say there's a reason that the Vive and the Index cost the amount that they do...
we would need a huge leap in LCD/OLED tech to make the headsets more affordable that may happen in the next 5-10 years... The issue is that the amount of product that Valve and HTC are moving is not enough for a company like Samsung or Sony or LG to think it worth pushing the tech further... what is going to happen is that Google, Apple and/or Samsung are going to make a headset and that is going to get Samsung [the major screen maker for, well, all three brand's phones] to invest into the LCD/ OLED tech that is required to make cheap headsets... one of the major issues is that the screens have to be small, high resolution; have a high refresh rate; and be power efficient (don't want our headsets to use 3 USB 3 plugs now do we)... with current tech having all 3 of those things are impossible...
i'd just like to say.. you will NEVER see quality vr gear for less than $300 NEVER.. why?? becuase mmoney.. they arent expensive becuase they have to be they are expensive because people will pay it. by the time we get to lighter high quality experience gear.. $100 will be worth about as much as $20 today. $100 will likely be the cost of a big mac.. no fries no drink just the sammich.. with nothing but meat and bread.. thats just how money for goods works. i've been wonderinf for a while now.. if you chisle the skull blocks.. if you can.. can one chisles a sginlge skull out of them.. im not yet in a financial position to by any games or a enw computer.. mine will run minecraft but i have to let the title screen run for about 15-30 min before i load a world or i spend the whole time waiting to be able to move. basicly have to let my pc catch up to the game though once it has it p[lays fairly smooth..
Yeah, VR is definitely a luxury experience--well, as defined by some. But price-wise, definitely a luxury, and not one that I think translates well to non-VR viewers. I've watched a few streams by people playing VR games and haven't really been wowed--and the janky, jittery hand and camera movements were a definite downgrade for the viewing experience, too!
@@Kurazarrh Just to clarify. The jittery camera is caused by jittery head movements, which we all have. It's just automatically compensated by our brains. If you're wearing the headset you wouldn't really notice that.

Yeah, I'm not holding my breath waiting for good AND cheap VR to become a thing! XD
i'd just like to say.. you will NEVER see quality vr gear for less than $300 NEVER.. why?? becuase mmoney.. they arent expensive becuase they have to be they are expensive because people will pay it. by the time we get to lighter high quality experience gear..
