New to the channel? I do Let's Play videos -- these are like walkthrough guides of gameplay with continuous English commentary trying to explain my decisions and what strategy I use. If you're looking for hacks or cheats, you're in the wrong place! - Игры
Quill's ability to get me interested in a game of him just placing worker cards on different tiles is mind boggling to me. *bows down*
I really like this play through!!
Dude had a +3 food tile just sitting there.
Yeah, he tends to get overwhelmed and miss easy-to-spot stuff in his videos
fixer10091994 When you're talking and playing there is a lot of pressure to keep the pace of the game moving, he could probably sit and inspect the tiles for 30s and find the optimal layout but that would negatively affect the flow of the video, so he just accepts that sometimes he is going to be a bit un-optimal in exchange for keeping the video well paced and interesting. That and talking while playing makes it harder to play a little bit
PotatoMcWhiskey Guess there are just people that can handle it better than others
@@fixer10091994 So true. Show us your videos so we can judge you by those same standards.
@@PotatoMcWhiskey He can just pause the video.
You've heard it here first folks, Quill18 invented the patriarchy.
REEEE
Brace yourselves feminists are coming!
No he didn't, the Egyptians did. ;)
Quillankhamen did.
15:10 _"The gift thing is quite nice, because it's only using hammers to get people to do things."_
Even when quill is generous, it's with a touch of aggression.
Quill: +2 food is kinda okay but +3 food is really good...
10 minutes later...
Quill (in the middle of the trial of desertification): +3 food is not too great...
5 minutes later...
Quill: +3 food is good because our pop cap is pretty high right now
Me: ...? Make up your mind!!!
Look at your production!!!
And then he goes and wastes 250 culture on a tech that gives one extra production, lol.
And 1 extra food, mind you lol
Oh, yeah, can't forget that one extra food. It was the only thing saving his Egypt from total collapse.
Quill you know what would go really well with this. The Petra :P
Wrong continent. :p
Just barely. Petra is in southern Jordan, some distance north from the northern tip of the red sea. It must be just off the map of Egypt in this game.
it's only "jordan" now. Never used to be.
Also wrong time
As if that ever stopped us.
Did you know:This game was originaly called Pre-Civilization but they got copyrited by the people behind the Civilization series(newest release Civilization VI) for using the word "Civilization" which is owned by them.
It's not really owned by them and I'm not a fan of single word trademarks but this game pretty much copies the UI. Having a name that is 95% the exact same(just added "Pre-") is too close.
There are a lot of games with a very similar name but i think they targeted this one because it was so close to the launch of Civ VI.
also this shares alot of the UI of Civ V
It was also called Old Kingdom, they got thingied for that as well. I don't see how this is a carbon copy of civ though. I just don't see it. It's very similar but it isn't civ at all.
Sid Meier's memoir will be published later this year.
This would be amazing in Sid Meier Civilization were in the early ages like 4000 bc you have a smaller scale and when you advance in time you go on a large and larger scale. It would really seem like you have gone really far and their would be so much more details.
You know, the more I watch this, the more it sort of (not 100%) reminds me of King of Dragon Pass.
If you haven't tried that game out, I highly recommend it. Definitely super fun (and challenging) to play and learn.
This LP feels really smooth, love your work.
When you are deciding to build, you can click on the item and then the "go to" button in the middle between build and close. That shows at least one of the spaces that will be affected.
28:42 700 population/371 warriors... damn Mr Warlike, you must be recruiting babies and women. Well that's awfully progressive for 3753 BC don't you think
Later it was 800 population and 639 warriors, he must be like Russia (Everyone who can hold a sword will go into battle!)
Who cares about that. 800 population and only ~25 of them work. Lazy buggers.
At the end, he had 900 population and 650 warriors. So basically everyone who can walk
Wrong, Not enough swords for everyone so 639 warriors with 300c swords,
I must ask you, how old does a boy need to be before he is considered a man? How old must he be to die for his country.
*goes to unlock Quantity ideas*
I am REALLY loving this, I know I said this before on the first one, but damn, this is great! I want to see more.
Love this game, didn't think i would but can't get enough
Just got a full 3 stars on everything on medium balance. I really like this game. Thanks for showing it!
move the guy from the 2 food farm to the 3 food fish ;o
I was screaming this at the screen as well. "We could use more food" lets not use the best food tiles!!!!
dragonfang12321 He actually says in the video that he's likely not being optimal because he's trying to be quick. Its a lot harder to concentrate and notice everything when you're talking the whole time and trying to keep the video entertaining.
O I know. Watch most of his stuff, and it pretty common for him to make bad plays. That one was just painful to watch as he kept putting his mouse right over it without seeing it. He also finally realized it are 19 min in.
dragonfang12321 Yeah, most youtubers do the same thing. I've tried doing let's plays before but the fact I kept missing things and noticing while watching after infuriated me haha. Its hard enough to be entertaining, interesting, lively and funny for 40 minutes straight but doing it while playing a game means you miss things all the time. I get what you're saying though, I get pissed off watching people play some games, especially those that skip tutorials and then complain about not knowing what to do... ugh
Can easily crush 170 soldiers, chooses to spend 240 production to unite with the tribe instead...
I have played this several times now (over the weekend after having seen your first video). I tried to save the authority until I got to a good trial (build a temple or whatever). I kinda did the same thing with hammers. This is a fun game. I do think that it has somewhat limited re-playability, as you said in the first video. Good hunting.
That's some good game right there! I'm really enjoying the series
loving this play through!
31:20 Looks like you weren't paying attention again, because notification for chiefdom trial appeared in top right.
Please keep doing these . They are awesome :)
"I like big boats and I cannot lie" *groans loudly*
quill I'm sorry, but I'm good need the rest of this series to be posted today, thanks!
Am i the only one pissed because this game is so good yet so unknown?
-6 * 5 = -60 What?
well, if you went to school, you would know the mathmetician that stated 2+2 doesn't always equal four. I forget the persons name, but I failed maths so...
Its ok Arumba has all the spreadsheets.
Sneaky Belgian math.
great series
People should respect Quill's authoritah!
im loving this searies
Use the damn +3 food tile in the lower left corner....
nikoladd I
very nice videos!!!
i wish you were not drip droping them though. Obviously you have 5 of them ready, waiting for day or two for a new one huuuurts.
Oh well patience is a virtue i guess.
Game Tips RUclips's mechanics dictate that regular content is better than flooding with videos. Besides not everyone has 2.5 hrs to dedicate to one thing in a day, but you can probably find 5×30m timeslots over 5 days.
+PotatoMcWhiskey
Yea i know i was just stating my affinities.
I agree on your first point he is probably doing it for more consistent channel growth and viewer retention.
The other argument almost certainly does not apply it is quite obvious that he dedicated 2-3 hours to this game, finished it, cut it down to what if the names of videos are not misleading 5 pieces, uploaded them and is making them public once per day.
The last tribe had weak warriors, you probably would have done better attacking them.
Keep it up, I'm really liking this one!
You should do another Series then with the highest difficulty just to compare :D
15:26 working a +2 tile while a +3 was not used :(. if this was a stream, many would have commented on it. lol
then at 19:05 you finally noticed it, that was almost 20 turns,
not mocking you. i just found the situation funny. great video, +1 Sub
Huh, I've actually wanted a similar mechanism flipping between a smaller map and larger map in place for 4X games to better transition from planets to solar systems to local stellar cluster, galaxy...maybe even intergalactic maps. Seems the scale of travel and thus resources is the issue to adapting 4X game mechanics to most sci-fi settings where you could theoretically get a starting ship all the way across the galaxy (at least in terms of travel time if not range or whatever) which makes it hard to model, say the Federation of Star Trek or even the Interstellar Alliance of Babylon 5.
rubaiyat300 How about the 'Verse of _Firefly_ ?
How could you pick honoring the farmers? They give you the least benefit. The other two give you plus six per turn and they only give you 3 in something you have a lot of.
6:50, It won't take 60 food it'll only take 30 ;P, 6 x 5 = 30 ....
Keep your authority until the end game, they are the hardest things to build.
14:41 Yay! I get +2 food every turn! 😀
15:56 Oh Noes! The +2 food every turn from earlier, just turned to +0 food per turn! 😭
anyone notice the smaller map looks like hes were the Nile meets the Mediterranean, but on the bigger map he's no where near that.
Syrric Mericles me
It's supposed to be a creek going into the Nile.
8:12 dope
36:22 He is attacking Kekistan.
It was goat tribe right?
"Apparently when I make videos, I'm a super warmonger, this might come as a surprise to you."
No, no it doesn't.
Aaand... I bought it.
Did he miss a farm buildings from earlier?
This game looked fun, so i tried it.... and i came 3 turns short to win :(
It was fun though, so i'll definetly try again! :D
Also: sixty-ninth :P (Way cooler than first)
Now sure if that was swell or handy-dandy..
The canteloupe tribe???
"Cult points" "Cult points" "Cult points" "Cult points" "Cult points"
Up on the map seems to be south Quill - mostly because you met the Nubians.
Bankrupted with tools the currency of building
The sandstorm is so darude
I think you mean awe-sum
Goat tribe. What, do you think all split hoof horned mammals look alike?
You play the Darndest games.
Great vid, but you go SO fast. Please can you slow down a bit for us older folk? (i.e. in their mid 30s)
The game is actually on sale in steam. Just saying. ;)
Swell
now the kids can be sent to the corners
Why is it always "we" doing this and that in these gameplay videos, when it's most obviously just you playing the game in this video, not me or anyone else?
your city is the capital of sudan in present day
MORE SOLDIERS
MORE FASTER
Palestine?
During this period of time, this land was called Canaan.
Palestine is a Roman name
The writers went with the Latin and Greek place-names since they were more familiar while using the Egyptian names for gods and kings according to their Steam page and website.
Does this f*cking game really not have any hotkeys other than quicksave?
WE
ehy WUZ
Palestine in 3700 BC? In that time it was called Canaan or Judea. Romans changed the name few thousands years later. Someone needs to learn some history.
It certainly wasn't called Judaea then either.
It's supposed to be Canaan by now for sure
Paelstine is Adrianus era name or at the very earliest Herodotus...
It would be Canaan. Judea was given by the Romans under Julius Caesar as dictated by the Republic's Senate which would later followed by the name Palestine to erase the memory of the Jewish Revolt under Bar Kochab under Hadrian. However, the game developers went with the Latin names as they were more familiar even though they knew better, although they used the Egyptian ones for gods and rulers. They also used the Greek names for the cities for the same reason.
I'm the 1000 like yay
no jetpacks booo
play REALPOLITIKS :)
Never played this game, I don't understand how quill can't see all the stupid mistakes he's making.
Wilmer Eneris Try and make lets plays while talking all the time and you will understand
Kek tribe

First
Well made video and Im waiting for more
EDIT: Im first xD
