An anti-lag system (ALS) or misfiring system is a system used on turbocharged engines to minimize turbo lag on racing cars. It works by arranging for fuel and air to be in the exhaust duct after the engine, and before the turbocharger. this increases performance and is in no way badly tuned
I mean if you have an average to below average turbo yes, however most aftermarket well built turbos don't really care all that much. its harder on things like valves and the rest of the exhaust system than the turbo itself. however I wouldn't put an ALS on a stock turbo lol then you're just asking for a grenade to go off under your hood.
You lack a lot of general engine understanding man, all of you do actually. Anti-lag is ONLY on gear change. When the clutch is depressed, a chamber in between the turbo exhaust side inlet and the block is filled with fuel, this fuel is ignite, causing pressure in the system forcing the turbo to continue to spin at higher than idle speed. At idle, the popping is caused by a 2 step limiter, which cuts ignition after a certain RPM. This allows the turbo to continue to spool, and unlike a factory limit system that cuts fuel, keeps the piston rings lubricate during the "dry cycle." The excess of fuel in the exhaust system meets the air at the end of the exhaust system, reaches a golden ratio for combustion and viola, combustion. Anti lag and flat foot shifting should also not be confused. Flat foot shifting is again using a 2 step ignition cut limiter activated by the clutch, this allows the driver to not release the throttle during a shift, and keeps gas pouring into the exhaust system. This is more for show and very fast shift times than anything else and has no effect at least, and at most reduces the RPM of the turbo due to reverse pressure.
