This war affected my family.
My grandfather owned a bakery and during this war there was runaway inflation and the cost of flour increased a lot but my grandfather did not raise the price of bread. He incurred a lot of debt and we almost had to close our bakery. But people were able to afford bread (pav).
The people still remember him and thank him even today.

I'm from Arunachal Pradesh a small town nearby china border . My grandmother used to tell us Stories about how the Chinese troops entered Arunachal border defeating Indian soldiers .Then was the month of October and was the millet harvesting time so our people were busy harvesting and suddenly the Chinese troops entered and captured the whole village. But surprisingly none of our people was harmed and were instructed to stay inside the houses . my grandmother was only 12-13 yrs old then .

@@rr.in.the.cosmos In the whole video he is trying to show that the Indian government of that time was deaf, they did not have any information or news about the Chinese infrastructure construction, it is all China which suddenly starts the war, but In fact the government ignored a lot and did not take China seriously. , The eastern side only deployed 56 soldiers and asked them to fight, of course the government made some wrong decisions at that time, instead of admitting it, this person tried to defend it

Allowing China taking over tibet was the biggest mistake nehru ever made along with his huge blunders related to other territories. In the past 2000 years before the qing rule of china , india and china were never direct neighbours because tibet acted as a buffer state, so these 2 great powers never clashed with each other. But after china took tibet it not only gave china a better position to invade India but also to gain further territories in India which they did in aksai chin. India could have easily defeated china because india had a much superior army and was also very familiar with the terrain. Even Tibetans would have been much happier if they were part of the Indian union instead of china where their nation is just a source for exploitation of natural resources.

As usual a well researched video. I am in my late seventies and vividly remember the anxiety with which I read the Malayalam news paper which always carried something which was cheering to the Indians like the Indian troops withdrawing to safer places after inflicting heavy losses to the enemy. In retrospect we all know it was a one sided war and the Chinese had the upper hand. Alongwith independence we had umpteem problems to surmount, war with Pakistan, settlement of refugees and Nehru's anxiety to develop the country using maximum resources. In between we didn't think, China with whom we wanted to have the best of relations and tried to help them in all international forums would stab us in the back.
There is a widely circulated story in China: Mao once told his team, "I thought about it for ten days and nights, but I still couldn't understand why India wanted to fight us." At that time, Chinese decision-makers believed that both China and India had just gained independence and had many domestic issues to address, such as education, infrastructure, poverty alleviation, and system building. China and India were both poor countries and should have stood together. Moreover, India was also a friend of the Soviet Union. The apparent strength of China and India was similar, and attacking an equally strong opponent would be difficult to achieve victory. Everything about it seemed illogical.
Many years later, the Chinese gradually understood that Indians believed they were the inheritors of the British Empire's assets in South Asia. Therefore, they felt entitled to inherit everything beneficial set by the British, including the disputed border demarcations made by them. India believed it had inherited the industrial base established by the British in the Indian subcontinent and saw itself as the leader of the Non-Aligned Movement. On the other hand, China had just been liberated, was very poor, and maintained a low profile, leading India to perceive China as weak and powerless. This gave Nehru the ambition to seize Tibet from China. I've even heard that at the time, India intended for China to make Sichuan a strategic buffer zone between the two countries.
However, while dreams are great, in 1962 India rashly assumed it would achieve an easy and decisive victory. When the war began, reality proved harsh, and the Indian army suffered continuous defeats. The Chinese forces even advanced to within 400 kilometers of Delhi. Naturally, after attacking Indian territory, the Chinese troops quickly retreated back to China. They had cautiously assessed their own logistics situation, recognizing that it would be very difficult for the Chinese army to receive large-scale supplies by crossing the Himalayas. Therefore, after securing their victory, they promptly withdrew. This encapsulates the main story of this farcical war.
