I inherited a big... no... BIGGER kitchen than I'd had in my recent past and consider myself blessed in that regard... not to mention the redo we did a year ago 😁... STILL love that! Years ago, in one particularly small sort of galley-like kitchen (that happily dead-ended into a window) I used a bakers rack for extra storage... it had deeper shelves on the bottom for appliance storage, not so deep shelves on top for cookbooks, and the advantage of a wrought iron structure that let the light in. Oh! And it was a roadside find, but of course!! It's how we roll! 🤣❤🏜
Another great video Norrine! I love the Press and Seal mention, I work for the company that invented it, Procter and Gamble, and was one of the scientists that tested it before it hit the market many many years ago. I honestly can’t live without it. Game changer!!
What?!!?!? That is amazing!!!! What a cool tie with this! I am working on a video for other uses for Press and Seal - any insights??? Email me!!! CallClutterFairy@gmail.com
I lived in a small Studio apartment that had a very small kitchen area with just one counter against the wall. The linoleum floor was maybe 3' wide before it hit the carpet. So fir more counter space I used a long low boy style dresser ( it had drawers & cubbies) set up on bed risers to make it more countertop height. I the added a framed piece of pegboard to the back so I could hang kitchen utensils on it Plus it doubled to hang things on the back like hand tools and such.
Lots of great ideas❣️ I hadn't considered using the Press-n-seal, I have used cling wrap under lids when I travel. Back in my early career years (my 20's) I worked as a Kitchen Designer. I learned a lot, but I also learned just because there's a "formula" for the cabinets it doesn't mean it's right for you. I was able to help my daughter when she remodeled her kitchen (in a cabin with log walls) and the designer at Lowe's (in Fairbanks) kept telling her she needed a 33" sink in her 36" sink cabinet. She was finally getting a dishwasher and I suggested a 27" single sink, to give her more counter space. It's the perfect size when she needs to wash big pans but she got an additional 6" of counter space. Like you say, decide what you need to function and get rid of the superfluous items.
LOVE, love, love the bookcase idea with shelving above, looks so professionally created and tidy and nice to look at. You are the best at taking cheap, inexpensive stuff and making it look luxe!!! Love you Norrine ❤️
I sing your praises to all who will listen! (And literally take them on a tour of the organization changes, thanks to you!) We have a very small cabin (386 sq ft) and a growing family, now including the gift of grandchildren. It is not unusual to provide meals for 15 people for days at a time. The kitchen is so tiny with 1940/50 cupboards. It is now much more functional and I have much less frustration pulling meals together. Best idea? “Likes with likes” in tubs/containers. 2nd best? Bed risers. Doubled tub storage under each bed. Thank you, Norrine for all your ideas.
Welcome back! Had you mentioned the “p” word in your previous video, I might not have missed you so much. 😆 I don’t know why purging gives my soooo much stress. I’ve started by shredding/recycling old paperwork. I was soooo proud when I cleared a snack tray of piles of years of paper clutter and put the tray away. 🤩 Then I started on the stacks of papers in my kitchen-one down and one to go. Not sure of my next frontier yet…
LOL Ok, ok! How about reducing? Or limiting supplies. 😉 It's difficult, I now. Maybe have a gentle friend help you go through just a few things. Not someone who tells you to just get rid of it - but that asks good questions, like why do you need it, when was the last time you used it, and would you spend your money on it today?? Sometimes taking it a few items at a time is just as helpful, and less stressful. And you know I am always here to cheer for you. xoxoxox
@@TheCraftyOrganizer Thanks! I was talking to a friend about getting together for each other’s houses-then Covid hit. I have been getting rid of some stuff, trying to gain momentum. 💪 You, Clutter Bug Cas, and A Slob Comes Clean Dana K White, have been my gentle friends. 😆
When we downsized to an apartment, storage in our kitchen is limited. So I bought a 4 drawer dresser that matched the dark kitchen cupboards. In it we keep kitchen linens, extra pantry items, plastic food containers and teas, k-cups. On top we put out water fiter/cooler and Keurig machine.
Duplicates is my problem, what I had and what I got as duplicates, is because of the Dollar Stores have these things in bright shiny colors. I'm like an old crow, I like bright shiny things
Great tips and tricks for small kitchens! While I don't have a very small kitchen, but it's not large either, i have great storage! We had our kitchen redone a few years back and I am so happy with it. Pantry has pull out shelves that I love! I'm not one for lots of smaller appliances. I only have a crockpot but am thinking about an air fryer. I hate clutter on my counter top so I keep it down to a minimum. Good to see you again Norrine! Hope you had some well deserved time off and did some fun stuff with the girls!
I am too, but mine have clear bottoms and beige lids and just in the last year several of the lids got cracks on the edges so I had to toss the lids but kept the bottoms for organising things. Over the years I bought other sizes i needed but some i didn't use much or like either so i passed them on to my daughter. My old ones are still my faves. 😊
I just purged some extra cups and dishes out of my kitchen. Had more than enough because I bought open stock pieces. Keeping them in a box to see if anyone in the family wants them before I donate. Sometimes “ step” purging is helpful. Helps you make the final decision. I always learn so much from your videos. Amen for 100,000!
We have a small 6 x 6 kitchen. There is only a few extremely small drawers. I've hung the large kitchen utensils, small strainers and grater inside the upper cabinet doors with 3M hooks. The large strainer is hung on the lower cabinet doors. We really had to pare things down when we downsized.
You read my mind. The kitchen you showed is the exact kitchen in the house we are building for my father-in-law. I will use this layout when we move him in next weekend!!!!
Your kitchen looks like the one I lived in with my parents from the time I was 11 to 18 years old in Venice, CA. I would stand at the sink doing dishes looking out to the street and wishing I was outside. That kitchen was soooooooo small. I don't know how my mom created such wonderful meals with so little counter space and so little storage.
Great tips & suggestions Norrine! You are so inspiring and I appreciate you very much! As always, thank you for sharing your creativity, talent and inspiration! Stay safe, healthy and positive! God bless you and your family! 🙏❤🇺🇸😊
I have a large kitchen with no cabinets.. it was built in the late 40s and while I really WANT to redo it, money has definitely been an issue, especially over the last year. My solution is a little unconventional probably, but it works for the most part. I have two of the metal "tool" cabinets from Walmart with a bookshelf between the two. Cabinets hold food, and the bookshelf holds the majority of my dishes [only the ones I use.. I did purge a LOT! .. including anything that didn't match lol] The microwave sits on top of the bookshelf, which is the perfect size.. and height for everyone. I also used two cheap islands back to back to provide MUCH needed drawer space. Still planning on repainting etc but for now.. I'm mostly happy with my solution.
Oh so true, so true…a unit I moved into had a gorgeous kitchen when I moved in and potting things away it suddenly occurred to me there was no pantry 🤣. I stood there horrified while it sunk in. I ended up buying a cheap pantry and put it in the laundry which was right next to the kitchen an the downstairs toilet. Mmmmmm 🤔 I’m guilty of “EVERYTHING.” I called the corner cupboard the dead appliance graveyard🎚…Really great show. I Loved it thanks.
Oh thank you! I got to take a vacation with my lovely girls. It was REALLY nice to spend quality time with them. I am recharged, and ready to tackle the rest of the year! :)
My sister has begun to use her stove top as countertop in her tiny kitchen. She uses long cookie sheets that have a lip to roll her dough, even slices a large watermelons juice is contained. Thinking outside the box helps.
I re-zoned our whole kitchen so pans, bowls, etc would be even closer to where we actually use them. We Do use that cabinet over the fridge, for seasonal tins, and cookie/candy containers. That gave more space in the corner cabinet for the bowls, oven glassware, etc. I use two lazy susan type trays to store our spices and dried herbs in small cabinets near the stove. Cleared off our lower lazy Susan shelves to just items that we use, purged old foods, got rid of any duplicates, etc. And put some extra bowls and measuring cups and spoons I knew we could use during camping into our pop up camper kitchen box. Now, If I could just get hubby to let go of 2/3 of his items which aren't even used (by him) in the coat closet, and his clothes closet, I'll be thrilled.
I know what you mean about storage space and I have a medium size kitchen which all my appliances and cabinets are in a u shape. I have a space behind one of the side u shape for a rectangle kitchen table or you could put one near my window in the corner but off center from the top of the u where my table is at but both space's where the kitchen table can go is kind tight especially when everyone is over sitting at it for the holidays. My cabinet's that I have at the top are semi medium to small and at the bottom I have a small 4 drawer up right cabinet between my stove and refrigerator where I keep my silverware, my utensils for cooking, my husband's a drawer their where he keeps his shoe polishes and rags for his dress shoes, and some screwdrivers, and measuring tapes ect. Then on both sides of my sink I have some lazy Susan style cabinets and going up to the side is my dishwasher and another small cabinet with 1 drawer on top and the bottom I keep my cooking oils, cooling racks, a cutting board, and my toaster. I have purged and purged several of times and still don't have room, I even made a very small pantry out of a broom closet which is over packed with stuff and isn't functional anymore because it's over crowded so I told my husband that I want to take our mudroom coat closet and make that into a pantry he didn't like that idea to much 😂😂😂 but I told him we're going to have to do it just because we need the room! Right now it's on hold though because with the prices of wood right now it's ridiculous so I'm going to have to deal with what I got until prices of wood start's to drops back down! Norrine in the video you were taking some plates and other stuff down from the cabinet it was so quick but the plates looked like they were carnival glass dishes were they?
Yes!!! I kept all of my carnival glass :) I love it so much! I can't believe how high wood prices are right now either... hoping it comes down soon!!!!
Shoe polish & their associated rags in kitchen? Why not with the shoes -- whether bedroom closet or mudroom? Could move screwdrivers, tape measure too -- just a thought.
@@barbaramorck2933 They are all small size drawers like a junk draw. My husband Irons his suits in the kitchen on Sunday mornings and gets dressed down stairs so before he gets dressed he polishes his shoes and puts them on he walks right out the door to go to church so he likes everything down stairs all in one place and for the screwdrivers there's only two of them with a measuring tape so If I need then I know where they are because I am partially handicap!
Very interesting tip about the press and seal. I've used it on jars, but never thought to use it on plastics under the lid. I've always liked those tall slim containers, but haven't felt justified paying those prices so the plastic wrap may help. It's worth a try. I have quite a few cupboards and drawers plus a bookcase. I've been keeping my pans under my sink, but it's making me a bit crazy trying to get them out sometimes. I'm rethinking how they're stored. Thanks for all the suggestions. Good to see you again, too.
This has come at the perfect time for me as I’m desperate for solutions in my food cupboards! I love the idea of having bins to just grab when I need a particular item! Thank you and a big wave from Scotland! xxx💕
We have a fairly large kitchen which we re-did when we moved in. Lots of storage, plus a pantry for larger appliances. I'm constantly purging. Have gotten rid of a bunch of plastic items, so now have an almost empty drawer and an empty shelf. Feels good to get rid of stuff and find what I'm looking for. Thanks for your tips.
How did you know that I really need to go through my kitchen and purge everything? We remodeled it 15 years ago and I truly have sooo much storage space. But I have so many platters, pans, bowls that it’s ridiculous. I’m not able to do the physical work like I used to. But I can do 1 cabinet at a time. We donate to a local charity that will pick up from our front porch. We also make use of our local Facebook Buy Nothing page. It’s a great way to gift items to others who may need them.
I am so happy to hear you are going one cabinet at a time!!! It's not nearly so overwhelming when you take it slow like that! I also am happy you are donating and using your local Buy Nothing groups! It's so exciting for someone to get what they need at a discounted or free price when they need it!!!! I got to help an older client get a much needed file cabinet they needed from a thrift store for just $10!!! We were both so excited to find the perfect size, and a price they were comfortable with. Sounds like you are doing a great job!!!
We are redoing our kitchen, and I have been purging . I hope you don’t mind I had posted pictures on your FB page asking for storage and ideas. Everyone was so informative and helpful, I promised to post pictures after we are done. Super excited for this video, especially when you discuss the zones. So important, we kept this in mind when we were designing our kitchen, husband is a carpenter so he also has lots of experience. He also advised me of organizing mistakes customers always regretted. Thanks again for all the wonderful ideas and information. Love love the press and seal idea.
It's so good to see you... I've been thinking about you . I have a small U shaped kitchen...... For being alone, I have plenty of space.... Only thing I don't like is the dead space at back of cupboards.... One of them I use for cookbooks and a wire rack for foil and plastic wrap etc... So good to see you
So good to see you back on here!!! I was hoping you wasn't in the fire zones, so glad you are well!!! I've really missed you!!! I'm gonna have to send you some pictures pretty soon, Thank you I really do need to purge and organize my kitchen too🥰🤗😊
Hi Norrine 😃. That’s weird! I was just thinking about you and hoping you were ok and then you uploaded 😃. Thank you for the great tips as always. Everything about my house is small, even the doors 😄. I think it was designed for hobbits. In the UK we usually have our washing machine in the kitchen (unless you’re posh and have a utility room 😁); this takes up a lot of space. I have a tiny cupboard which is neither use nor ornament that I try to balance my Tupperware in 🙄. Waterfall of Tupperware whenever I open the door no matter what I try. Glad to see you, take care 😊
I switched all of my containers to just 3 sizes that nest. It takes so much less space!!!!! And, searching for lids is easier, since I only have three sizes. :)
I have a corner sink with cupboard below just like yours… it’s a large space but always gets into a jumble as there’s no shelf. I would love ideas how to maximise the use of this space. I think you said in another video that you were working on ideas for under sink storage. Love all your great ideas ❤️
Wow! I've done all of those. I also got a stainless steel cook table to separate my kitchen from my living space, which provides that visual separation as well as a much needed prep space and storage for large appliances in the lower shelf. It was about $125 from Amazon and super heavy, but it's been invaluable to actually cooking in my apartment kitchen.
I have a small section (12 inches) between two doors I want to put shelves on for my favorite cookbooks. Been looking for ideas for weeks! Online, Lowe’s, target, etc., nothing was going to work in this small space! Decided I was going to have to make them. Today I walked in a Family Dollar store and they had sets of narrow shelves. Small, medium, and large lengths for only $5 for a set of 3. Used for decor but wide enough for my farmhouse cookbooks.
You know that skinny base cabinet? I found a really cool 2 shelf pull out metal insert for it on Amazon and I LOVE it! Comes in a few sizes. Household Essentials Glidez Narrow Sliding Organizer, 7", Chrome. I keep all my oils in it and things like soy sauce, etc.
Welcome back! I had to laugh because I have both a Ninja blender and a food processor but I’m not willing to give up either. I don’t use them as much as many other tools in my kitchen but they are each invaluable to me for the tasks involved with much loved recipes that would take far longer to prepare without them. I bought the food processor just to chop fresh parsley for tabouli, which I probably wouldn’t make without it (I like tabouli that is mostly parsley and less bulgar). But I’ve used it a lot to chop veggies when I’m cooking in bulk, especially for onions because of how quickly I can get them done! Then without washing I use it to chop the remaining veggies in the recipe so things go WAY faster than I could do by hand. The blender I use mainly for purée of smoothies or other foods that are liquid or I’m turning into liquids. I don’t think I could do that with the food processor and I think using the blender to chop would turn things to mush too quickly. Your kitchen reminds me so much of my aunt’s but her fridge was next to the stove and her cabinet to the left of the sink was even smaller than yours. And I sure know what you mean about kitchens that look good but have no functional space! My corner sink has a basin on each run of cabinets instead of being straight, to the left of that is a base cabinet wrapped around the chimney. To the right of my sink is a 4 drawer cabinet that sounds useful but only gives access to 19% of the space the cabinet occupies because there’s so much wasted space between drawers with the way the face frame is constructed. They are each only about 9” wide and 3” tall inside and are not full extension. Thankfully I have a corner lazy Susan cabinet next to that, then there was a dishwasher (it stopped working so I had it removed and added an IKEA 24” base that I put super sliders on the bottom of the legs to slide it into the space) and a 21” base cabinet with a half fixed shelf. I’ve added tons of hacks to make it function better but I’d still like to remodel. The most functional cabinet by far are the 2 shallow tall pantry cabinets on the other side of the door to the back room (where the fridge is located because it does not fit in the main kitchen area). The stove is between 2 doorways! I’ve had a few kitchen planners in that didn’t come up with many ideas I liked, but after a lot of work I’ve come up with a few ideas of my own. But I need to get some other projects finished first and get some input from a realtor before I change anything in the kitchen. The neighborhood may not support spending the money on a kitchen remodel to change the layout, especially when I may need to move to a one story house in the next 10 years.
I've seen many 'false fronts' in kitchens that make it look like there is storage behind it! Augh! It's a crime! So sorry you have this too. If I am ever in your town, I'll have to try your tabouli!
I'm new to your channel and have been learning so much lately. That little example you showed is just like my kitchen only a mirror image. That was amazing to see and yes those are the problems my husband and I have. Things like the two cabinets over the fridge can't be reached. We have some things in common. I have the same hair you do. Naturally curly spiral brown. And Turquoise is also my fave color. My room is only a bit of a brighter blue than yours. I call it budgie blue. Budgies are parakeets. My husband and I have been messy only children all our lives. But when my mom passed away I ended up with way too much stuff. It was aweful. We're still getting rid of stuff years later but now at the point were we want to tackle our own collections since we live in a small house. Your channel is teaching me some things because neither of us have ever had to deal with stuff like this. We're both happy nerds so this isn't something we've ever had to think about. I'm the artist of the two. Mostly I do digital art, like my character in my icon. But I like to draw in my Bullet Journal when I get the chance and definitely have art supplies in my computer room.
Well, first off, welcome! I'm always happy to meet new people who are visiting my channel. Secondly - I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom. Having her collection added to yours will make downsizing a bit tougher, but not impossible. Hoping you and your husband can join forces and approach small areas together. I'm here with suggestions and pom-poms rooting for you!
@@TheCraftyOrganizer Aww thank you so much. Another reason I decided to add your channel was because I saw you reply to people. That's so important. That's how I am too on my channel I respond to all my good comments. My mom had tons of stuff, literally. I think I will email you and tell you my story. You might find it interesting. But yeah, your videos have helped so much. Our brains don't think this way so this has been great. I'll be commenting on others too. Thanks so much.
This was very timely as I'm in the middle of planning where everything goes in my cabinets right now. Your example kitchen is very similar to mine, but mine is, thankfully, a little better laid out than that one. Now, here's the hard part...what to do with "THE GAP"? You know, that space above the cabinets? Some people have theirs decorated so nicely, and I just don't know how ro do that. It is my ONE decorating Achilles heel. And in my house, it MUST be decorated. Otherwise, sooner or later, my husband will decide he can't figure out where to put something, then the next thing you know that whole area is clutered with all sorts of things!
I am big on a fake plants on top of the refrigerator - they are light weight, so you won't get hurt if it ever falls, easy to move when you clean, and I throw them in the dishwasher or use a hose to clean them off as needed. OR, if you need the extra space, decorative boxes can hold seldom needed items. :)
@@TheCraftyOrganizer I'm such a dumb dumb. I LOVE boxes. I actually collect like wood trinket boxes even. It never even occurred to me to get larger ones to put up there. 🙄
I have a pretty small kitchen - just got possession last week after closing early July. I plan to add 2 upper/lower cabinets around a new stove/built-in microwave. Trying to figure things out until that happens, hopefully in the next 2 months. No current dishwasher, and the microwave I'm using is an old one I kept in the garage for the last 10 yrs, just sitting on a cart I also happened to have. My last house had a HUGE kitchen, so I'm having to downsize for me/3 kids. Currently only one drawer for utensils - the only other drawer has a built-in divider, making it not work for silverware. I ended up using a stand-alone cabinet in the mudroom for small appliances and overflow food, plus a built-in 9" deep open-storage in the mudroom (ostensibly for shoes) for pantry space. Our shoes go on the lower two shelves, and food is on the 3 above that, with rarely used items above that. We just fully moved in Sunday, so I'm trying to give myself grace, even while I'm still cooking regular mostly from-scratch dinners. This video has great timing for me. The whole process is quite the challenge!
Congrats on your new place! Moving in and finding homes for everything is overwhelming! Take breaks, and remember... you can always change things around if they are not working. 🌺
The captions for me is showing in Vietnamese. Even when I changed it to English, the captioning still wasn't correct. This is a RUclips issue from time-to-time.
Whatever room is closest so it’s convenient… but out of the way. Some thing like the small dining area or right outside of the dining area. Having some shelves next to the fridge (so it’s an open style pantry) will make it look nice give you more storage and tie the room together .
Our kitchen is a "one butt" kitchen. It is long and narrow. The apartment was built in the 70's before microwaves and keurigs. LOL The cabinets are so small inside that I can't use the storage systems or bins. :( I just don't think there is a solution for my lil kitchen.
Hm 🤔 What is press and seal? Is that just plastic wrap like Saran wrap? I've hardly shopped in 18 months, our younger son has been doing the shopping for us as vulnerable seniors, so is it a new product? I have those issues with containers and if there's a solution I'm all for it. 😊 Okay, i looked it up, and its on my shopping list! Thanks for the tip Norrine. 👍😁
It's a magical film! LOL It's a bit thicker than saran wrap... and stiffer too. It has once side that's a bit tacky (think post-it note adhesive, but for food!) It's incredible, and has a multitude of uses!!
Great tips. I love how well organised everything is, especially the worktops. The only items I have on my worktops are a kettle (An essential item in a British kitchen.😀) a microwave & a toaster. Just curious, after using your toaster do you put it in a cupboard afterwards? I couldn’t be bothered doing that & would also worry that the toaster hadn’t cooled down enough.
Mine cools off within about 5 min. And, I actually DO put it back each time! LOL But, if I don't I won't have any space to make anything else - so it's an easy discipline to keep up with. :)
I do need an idea. I will have one 12-inch drawer next to my dishwasher, once it gets installed in the coming months. That is the logical place to put daily forks/spoons etc. I've seen the Joseph Joseph brand - can anyone chime in - are those good with thick handled butter knives? I'm just afraid it'll end up too tall and won't actually work in the drawer. I've thought of trying to put utensils in the cabinet above the dishwasher, but I have it there now, in Dollar Tray bins, and that is NOT very user friendly. Any of the picnic-style caddies would need to sit upright, and my cabinet shelves aren't adjustable, so I don't think that'll work. I have so little counter space, I don't want utensils there. What is a single mom of 3 to do??
Could you please explain how you use the press and seal on the better homes and Gardens plastic container Ben’s to make the sale airtight? I purchased those as well and have not been happy with the seal I get.
Did you just say the P word?!! Well, I did get rid of some things, but I still need to work on it further. I have a U-shaped kitchen with two Lazy Susan‘s in the corners. I just never have liked them. Anyway, thanks for the tips! 😊
I learned if you are a short person, don't get a person with a height of 6'3" to build your shelves and cabinets, I think he might have thought he was building his own kitchen, I can't reach higher shelves, if only they were 2:" lower
@@TheCraftyOrganizerThank you for your response, as I always think I only have these types of problems. I was working around the clock, sometimes I didn't get home for 3 days at a time, no money for a do-over. As I told my son what I noticed about these workers, the longer the workers were here the more invisible I became, with few exceptions. The worse advice I ever got was from my father, give instruction on what has to be done and leave them alone. No, if possible, they need to be monitored, from my experience.
China? Ha. Mine is in my son's basement. No dishwasher, no place to put one. 100 senior citizen apartments. I am guessing others are doing Lean Cuisine. I have allergies and have to cook from scratch including shredding cheese with a food processor because store shredded cheese is coated with potato starch. The Golden Years.
@@TheCraftyOrganizer haha not much more than that lol but stating it when you have as many subs commenting on your videos as you have it’s a huge deal lol 😂 🤣😆
About 16 years ago we built a new house. I always wanted a dishwasher. It didn't live up to my expectations and died way before it should have. Now I store all my plastic bottles and pitchers in it.

@@TheCraftyOrganizer LOL, know what? Mismatched handles was where it all started years ago and it snowballed from there. I like 'em too! 😁😘😘

Boy, are you ever right about that!!!!! Counter space is such a premium! So glad you were able to help her with that sink!!! :)
Welcome back! I was concerned about you. I hope you were on vacation. Thanks for the excellent tips today.
I was! Had a wonderful time with my girls. Now we are all recharged and ready to get back to work! :)

Wow! I'd love to see your cabin some time! I think it's awesome that you open your home to so many. That is a house full of love and laughter. 💜
Frontier..
Good word..really
Purging...😤😇😇😇😁
Brilliant! Dressers are great in kitchens, drawers are usually deep and it gives extra surface/prep space!
I’ve missed you! Great video as usual!
Thank you! So glad I took a break with my girls - but I missed you too!
Duplicates is my problem, what I had and what I got as duplicates, is because of the Dollar Stores have these things in bright shiny colors. I'm like an old crow, I like bright shiny things
😝🤣 ❤️😀
Great tips and tricks for small kitchens! While I don't have a very small kitchen, but it's not large either, i have great storage! We had our kitchen redone a few years back and I am so happy with it. Pantry has pull out shelves that I love! I'm not one for lots of smaller appliances. I only have a crockpot but am thinking about an air fryer. I hate clutter on my counter top so I keep it down to a minimum. Good to see you again Norrine! Hope you had some well deserved time off and did some fun stuff with the girls!
Thank you, Diane!!!! I really enjoyed my time with my girls. xoxoxo
I'm still using my Tupperware storage containers I got when we married 53 years ago.
Impressive!!!!!! What color are they???? I'm guessing the gold/olive/orange colors??
I am too, but mine have clear bottoms and beige lids and just in the last year several of the lids got cracks on the edges so I had to toss the lids but kept the bottoms for organising things. Over the years I bought other sizes i needed but some i didn't use much or like either so i passed them on to my daughter. My old ones are still my faves. 😊
@@Beruthiel45 Tupperware is expensive, but it’s guaranteed to last. Next time a piece cracks, find a salesperson and ask for a replacement.
The quality of this video is beautiful and so are you ! Thank you for sharing all your ideas and real spaces with us ❤️
Thank you, Christian!!!!
So glad I can give helpful tips. :)
I use press & seal, great idea for containers, Norrine. You are the best with ideas and my favorite you-tube channel! God bless!
Thanks so much, Debbie!!!!
I have a really small kitchen too and I love the bookcase solution :)
It made such a huge difference in my space!
Wall space is so helpful in tiny spaces! Well done for using yours!
You read my mind. The kitchen you showed is the exact kitchen in the house we are building for my father-in-law. I will use this layout when we move him in next weekend!!!!
How lucky was that?!?!?!
I cleaned out my Tupperware cabinet after watching your show. ❤️💯🙏🏻
You can't see me... but I am doing the happy dance for you!!!!! 😍
They really

In managing..we cant be like them..try as much as u can
Great tips & suggestions Norrine!
I am a huge fan of making things work!!!! I'm glad you are using the bookshelf - I am always amazed at how much they can hold!!!! 💜
TY again!! Namaste my Sweet U-Tube Friend 🤗🐞🥰
Great tip to use press and seal on the cheaper containers! Another tip for small kitchens is to use kitchen storage in other areas of the house.
Yes... as long as you remember where it's at! ;)
Absolutely

Keeping in glass jars or transparent box helps

Oh so true, so true…a unit I moved into had a gorgeous kitchen when I moved in and potting things away it suddenly occurred to me there was no pantry 🤣. I stood there horrified while it sunk in. I ended up buying a cheap pantry and put it in the laundry which was right next to the kitchen an the downstairs toilet. Mmmmmm 🤔 I’m guilty of “EVERYTHING.” I called the corner cupboard the dead appliance graveyard🎚…Really great show. I Loved it thanks.
I've done it too!!!! I have to go in with a check list, because I am easily distracted! LOL
norrine, great idea on the press and seal wrap!! LOVE your kitchen!!
I have missed your videos. Hope everything is going well. Your pleasant nature is very relaxing when life gets stressful.
What a great idea!!!! Give more surface space AND keeps things less messy!
Hubbies usually hold on to much more than they admit! LOL Sounds like you re-zoned your kitchen perfectly!
I have missed you 😘
You are so sweet. I've missed you too! I did have a lovely break with my girls. I'm happy to be back to work though. :)
Thank you so much for the tip of putting press n seal on covers of the Better Homes n Gardens canisters. I am adding it to all my canisters tomorrow.
It's worked great for me! Even my Oreos stayed fresh after a full month!!!!
Great ideas! Thank you for sharing this video!
I've been using the press-n-seal for a few months now - it's been amazing! Just replaced the paper on one of them for the first time a few days ago.

This has come at the perfect time for me as I’m desperate for solutions in my food cupboards! I love the idea of having bins to just grab when I need a particular item! Thank you and a big wave from Scotland! xxx💕
So glad you found some of these helpful!!
Great idea about press and seal
We have a fairly large kitchen which we re-did when we moved in. Lots of storage, plus a pantry for larger appliances. I'm constantly purging. Have gotten rid of a bunch of plastic items, so now have an almost empty drawer and an empty shelf. Feels good to get rid of stuff and find what I'm looking for. Thanks for your tips.
Great job! It's hard to let go of things, but feels so great when it's done!
I’ve have the same clear plastic containers from Walmart. Your tip about the press and seal is a game changer for me. Thanks so much
Yay! So glad I could help!

Glad you liked it!!
It's so good to see you... I've been thinking about you .
I have a small U shaped kitchen...... For being alone, I have plenty of space.... Only thing I don't like is the dead space at back of cupboards.... One of them I use for cookbooks and a wire rack for foil and plastic wrap etc...

@@TheCraftyOrganizer Good plan 👍, thank you 😊
I have a corner sink with cupboard below just like yours… it’s a large space but always gets into a jumble as there’s no shelf. I would love ideas how to maximise the use of this space. I think you said in another video that you were working on ideas for under sink storage. Love all your great ideas ❤️
Good to see you back! 🙂 Great suggestions!
Thank you!! 😊
Great ideas !!
I love the press n seal idea. Thank you.

That's a great idea!
Hello Norrine: Looks like summer us treating you well! Awesome tips and Thank You ❤️😀
Always nice to hear from you 😊
I have a small section (12 inches) between two doors I want to put shelves on for my favorite cookbooks.
YAY!!!!! Utilizing unused space AND keeping it budget friendly! :)
So great to see you Norrine! Great tips.
Thanks so much Tina!!
Glad to see you. Sure hope you had a great time with your girls. Take care and God bless you and yours. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas

Great tips Norrine! Now all I need is the cupboards lol This new place is in need or my wood working skills. Hoping I can get to it soon.
Can't wait to see how it all turns out!!!
Nice!!!! Can you send me a link or picture so I can share it with others?

Great info, love your videos.
AJ is such a cutie!
I know myself. I would never keep up with decanting items into another container with the exception of flour, sugar.
That's super important to know about yourself! So for you, bins may be a better option, or just declaring one shelf for those "like" items. :)
Love it. Very helpful.

If your kitchen in your Condo is to small to have a refrigerator, what room is the best .
Whatever room is closest so it’s convenient… but out of the way. Some thing like the small dining area or right outside of the dining area. Having some shelves next to the fridge (so it’s an open style pantry) will make it look nice give you more storage and tie the room together .
Hmm I think of a kitchen in a whole new way now. Have about half like u explained. Now to purge.
I've looked at many kitchens online in other parts of the world. Gives a fresh perspective on how to make things work! :)
Our kitchen is a "one butt" kitchen. It is long and narrow. The apartment was built in the 70's before microwaves and keurigs. LOL The cabinets are so small inside that I can't use the storage systems or bins. :( I just don't think there is a solution for my lil kitchen.
Send me pictures! I'll see if I can come up with anything!!! Email me at CallClutterFairy@gmail.com and I will take a look. 💜
Okay, i looked it up, and its on my shopping list! Thanks for the tip Norrine. 👍😁
It's a magical film! LOL It's a bit thicker than saran wrap... and stiffer too. It has once side that's a bit tacky (think post-it note adhesive, but for food!) It's incredible, and has a multitude of uses!!
@@TheCraftyOrganizer Thanks, I'm getting some, looking forward to fixing up some containers. 😁👍
Cindy - post pics on my Facebook page!
Let's see if we can come up with some suggestions for you.

The Joseph Joseph are too tall to fit in my drawers -- I was disappointed when I checked a few months ago.
Could you please explain how you use the press and seal on the better homes and Gardens plastic container Ben’s to make the sale airtight? I purchased those as well and have not been happy with the seal I get.
YES! I'll do a quick tutorial in an upcoming video!

I've been in a few of those senior apartments! They are super tiny - is yours working ok for you?

What great advice! I need to do some major purging of mugs and other stuff I haven’t used (or seen) in years.
Woohoo!!!! First!!! :)
@@TheCraftyOrganizer haha not much more than that lol but stating it when you have as many subs commenting on your videos as you have it’s a huge deal lol 😂 🤣😆

Btw no one wants to hear this but believe it or not a dishwasher is a want not a need
So true - but I still really want one! LOL
About 16 years ago we built a new house. I always wanted a dishwasher. It didn't live up to my expectations and died way before it should have. Now I store all my plastic bottles and pitchers in it.
Yes, my dishwasher is just another cabinet. Too expensive to yank it & replace with a "real" cabinet. Plus, hand washing dishes is meditative for me.
