For new players I think it's cool to have unmatched sets because while they learn it is easy to say "Roll the d20, it's the Orange die." Then they can learn the difference between all the dice by color. After they get better at identifying the dice they can graduate to a matched set. TLDR/ Mixed dice are good for beginners.
Yup I 100% agree with you, then it'll also give them an idea on what kind of set they'd like in the future as well.
@@RastovsNDragons Very true, they may find that they are more fond of the sparkling dice or the mixed colors or even the solid color dice. My favorite dice usually have mixed colors, but I understand that personal preference plays into that. I also like dice that are easy to read. If I had a set that were all black with black letters, most likely I would paint the numbers in a bright color so I could read them more easily.
Those misfit packs are really fun!

Awesome vid man! Loved all the D20s, even the double ups were pretty cool. Fav would have to be the candycorn like D20 (pink, white and orange) and all the cool ones with different fonts!

Awesome! I haven't seen these packs around the area but I would definitely pick up a few when I visit a store. I like brown/gold lettered d6 and blue/silver d12 dice the best but there are some great ones in there. Just keep them in a bag and when you are DMing reach for the bag and pour them out on the table stating you need a few more dice for a damage roll. 🤣
Yeah they're not bad to have for sure, I'd probably keep them for new people if they wanted to try but had no other dice.

Totally fair and valid point. I wouldn't use them just because I have my own hand picked out sets, but I remember how fun it was opening them up when I first got into it.
