Romans 3:7-8 7 Someone might argue, “If my falsehood enhances God’s truthfulness and so increases his glory, why am I still condemned as a sinner?” 8 Why not say-as some slanderously claim that we say-“Let us do evil that good may result”? Their condemnation is just!
Thank you Dr. Tour. I think that is why Paul told people that if they could not overcome their passions, that they should marry, lest they fall into temptation. It is even harder for young people these days because anybody under 30 is considered too young to get married; this is because we are told to sacrifice our natural desire for a family and exchange it for the idolatry of a career. How does a young person contain all of that passion for over 30 years?! I believe that as believers we should encourage young people to marry earlier (like our ancestors did) so that they won’t be led into temptation. I very much relate to your struggles with lust because I experienced much the same thing as a young man that you did. Praise Jesus for deliverance from lust and anxiety! I still struggle with these things in my mind, but the Lord is always able to pull me out of the mire when I simply turn to Him and ask for help and redemption. Good sermon-God bless.
I have learned to keep the channel for sexual thoughts turned OFF. Nothing that stimulates desire (mental, emotional, physical) is permitted. Very infrequently, an improper desire will surface that I immediately squash (usually with a prayer and rebuke of the enemy and my flesh), turning my attention to other things. Keeping the thoughts turned off (as a habit and with extra effort on those rare occasions) makes it so that there is no physical desire to wrestle. Keeping eyes turned away from improper things (e.g., immodesty in both men an women) also helps. Self-control is a fruit of the Holy Spirit! But the flesh is something that we will forever on Earth have to contend with and reign in--thus the need for self control and knowing our triggers.
Something related that I will share here is how God convicted me of the need to dress FULLY modestly (loose-fitting clothing that's not very fashionable, thick enough to hide my form, and that covers almost all of my skin) after I asked God for a dream to show me his perspective on the attire that I'd worn to a grocery store the night before.
The dream was of monstrous, block-long snake swallowing up the man who'd followed me into the store the night before and then went to swallow up a woman wearing the dress that I'd worn. As it went for the woman, I woke up in terror. That week, I threw into a dumpster about 95% of my clothing and slowly replaced the rest with resale garments.
Since the dream, I've approached at least one brother in Christ to share that women can be visual, too, and that men oftentimes wear pants that are not modest and tend to sit in ways that draw eyes to the wrong area. If they had on the double robes that Jesus probably wore, sitting with legs in a V while in public may not be a problem.
We are to be our brother's keeper and reduce all temptations for others whether that be our attire, sending private messages to married people, sending messages at times of day that trigger them (e.g., early morning or at night), conversations that are not brief and shallow, etc., etc. etc. I suspect that our modern culture contributes to the problem of lust in that women used to be caretakers of the home for the most part (though various professions for women are listed throughout the Bible), not interacting with men as secretaries, coworkers, cashiers, and more on a daily basis. God made men to respond quickly to a wife once married, but unfortunately that nature can be triggered by all that is ungodly. Living in the world but not of it is a real challenge!
Dr. Tour, thank you so much for sharing your life's struggles. Tell your wife that she has no idea how much your story has helped me.

First of all I commend you on your courage to speak so openly about your personal struggle and for the strength you are giving to others through your message. I can relate to your struggle as I have been challenged in the same way for most of my life, including after coming to Jesus (Yahusha). Recently though I have been blessed with an epiphany which has greatly loosened the grip of lust upon me. It was the realization that the weapon that I was falling to over and over was not the temptation of lust itself, but the shame of my obedience to it. It was this deep feeling of guilt which made me weak and this weakness which made me feel helpless. It was the shame which made me hide in the very thing which caused it. It was when I learned to forgive myself and shun the shame and guilt of my transgressions and focus instead on my love for God that God's love for me lifted me and strengthened me. Sure, the images still sometimes come, but their power to tempt is no so much there. Just as a woman who tries to tempt you to betray your wife you may see as unattractive in spirit, so that which is meant to tempt you to betray God becomes so. Our concience convicts us in guilt, but our savior has already removed that guilt from us, so it is for us to learn to relinquish the shame that goes along with it, replacing it with love and gratitude with haste. It was given to me to recite in my thoughts when recognizing temptation that justification for sin is the call of the Devil. Mentioning the enemy in our internal dialogue alerts us to the magnitude of the situation we're facing and sets our heart against temptation.
the best way to teach romans 6 and 7 is from personal experience...we can all relate with paul if we don't lie to ourselves and admit there is no good thing in our flesh.

Dr. Toure, this is very good, and I forwarded it to several young people with whom I am working.
I would add from my own personal experience, one cannot successfully reckon his old man dead when temptation hits like a ton of bricks, and he has been living in the old man up to that point...abiding in the things of the old man, not abiding in Christ.
I find victory when I change a simple thing. I quit having God time and my time. When I never leave the presence of Jesus Christ after my Bible and prayer time...I find victory when the crushing temptation comes.
And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and exceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2

Dr. Tour, Rav Sha’ul tells us in Rom. 8:1 (KJV); “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” Have you asked Elohim (in the name of His Son) to deliver you from the evil spirit of the flesh - since you are not walking after the Spirit of God? Lust is an evil spirit. Rev. 21:8 tells us that “whoremongers” will have their part in the Lake of Fire. You must be “born again” (John 3) if you want to enter into the Kingdom of heaven, which means you must “overcome” this world of sin by which there is no condemnation..

I have problem with lust, continually for about 25 yrs. Before that, I was dating and I don't remember any problem with lust. When I stopped dating, lust somehow came to being a continual battle. I have resumed dating for a few yrs. I made the decision not to kiss or touch. The last woman I was courting, Angelique, - sometimes I would be in the gym, and some pretty woman there, and I'm about to lust, - but I thought, - "...you know, if was married with Angelique, I wouldn't have any thought for this gym lady" and immediately there was no lust for the gym woman. period. And over the next several times of the gym, the similar happening. That so-warmed my heart, that I could be without lust; And for every Christian, that victory is in you. the Lord has you. I'm not able to see Angelique, and the lust continues, but I'm thankful for that moment of peace.
It is simple. The leap from flesh to spirit is by faith. Then the power of the Spirit kicks in. "They could not enter in because of unbelief". People try to use will power instead of living from the nature of Christ within. Fighting flesh with flesh doesn't work. The impossible is God's domain. Stop making it about our weaknesses and our struggles. Did you struggle to get out of hell or was it grace through faith? Is Christ in you enough or haven't you decided that he is. Romans isn't about "Jesus but sin" (unbelief) rather it is "sin but Jesus".
When I look at the women and my mind starts to go where it shouldn’t go. Genesis 9:23 oftentimes comes to mind for me. "And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness."
I once approached woman at a store with a whisper in private about her attire and explained that God values loyalty, commitment, marriage--*and modesty* because our beauty was intended for the eyes of our own spouse only, not everyone else's husband. I shared a little more with her about Heaven and Hell, and I could see conviction fall on her as she began to shake with the fear of the Lord as she listened humbly. If I recall correctly, she thanked me as we parted. Our conversation was cut short as someone else walked into our isle a few feet away from us. But all glory goes to God! He told me to go talk to her even though I didn't want to! And I pray that my seed has been watered and that she is walking with the Lord now!
This takes bravery- Dr. Tour is serving others in Christian love by sharing his testimony and teachings. Thank you Dr. Tour!

I don't think that the women with five husbands lied because I don't think that Jesus would call a lie truth. He said, "You've had five husbands' which refers to the past. Perhaps they all died or divorced her legally under the old covenant.

This particular chapter describes the way of life of the called ones. The called ones are called to a special calling. This particular calling was reflected in the OT by the call of the Levites. The Levites had a peculiar calling. They were the only ones allowed to see, touch, perform duties inside the Tent of the Meeting (later the Temple) whereas the rest of the tribes were not allowed to even peer inside. They were placed outside, around the Tent, unaware and unable to see inside. This special call shows the uniqueness of the call of the "Bride". They are called, washed/baptized at the Basin in Court and allowed to see the spiritual path from inside the Temple. In the Holy they spend their time in the light of Menorah. Thus the Holy Spirit enlightens and gives them the understanding of the spiritual call. They eat from the Table on which 6 and 6 bread were laid. The Bible has 66 chapters, thus the food of those called is the Bible, the Word of God. The altar of incense just before entering the Holy of Holies represented the life of the called one offered as sacrifice, a sweet perfume pleasing unto the Lord. They are to spend all their life in this Holy. At death they enter the Holy of Holies where they see God, represented in the Shekinah light and glory. At death, they change nature from human to spiritual and transcend the veil into the spiritual world. When the "body members" of the new Christ is complete, this call is closed and the Second Coming occurs. Speaking of which, this is described in Romans 8:19-23. They are the ones who will drag the rest of the world from this darkness into it's marvelous light. Like locomotives pulling hundreds of cars, they will drag mankind from this wretched estate into a Kingdom of Love and Justice, a Kingdom of prosperity and perfection. It will take 1000 years (or 1 day in God's time- 2 Peter3:8) but in the end they will implement what prophet Daniel saw in ch.2 and the good people will rejoice (Psalm 96).
Because this special call carries a special reward (the divine nature/immortality) the fight is enormously intense. Satan is allowed to test them, just like he tested the "Head" of the "Bride". No attack is spared to test the called ones. And the attack of the mind is used at maximum intensity. What dr. Tour describes, is common to all those who committed to serve Jesus as His "body member". No one is spared, no one is exempt. It is a fight that will never cease, au contraire it will intensify. But the victorious ones will receive the divine nature of Christ, immortality (Rom 6:9).
After that, they return to burn and refine the Earth, destroy all evilness and purify those who will accept Christ. It will be easier (Satan is chained) and the reward is smaller: eternal life on Earth in perfect human bodies like Adam and Eve had initially. The final test will be at the end of the 1000 years or re-education. Those who all this time pretended to like the Kingdom and enjoy it, will join the ultimate rebel in a final attempt to overthrow the Kingdom. But the book of revelation is clear on the outcome. After this, Earth and all the people who joined Christ during His righteous Kingdom will enter the infinity of time, the "quarantine" will be lifted and Earth will re-join the rest of Creation, cleansed and with a valuable lesson learned: "Never again disobey the Creator ".

@@DerekRhoads called to serve. The Levites were a priestly group. The High Priest of the Christians is Jesus (the Head). Jesus launched this call to all those interested in becoming a member of His body. Those interested are to forget their home (Earth:psalm 45:10) forget their family and friends as they are called to become spiritual beings. They must become carbon copies of Jesus's character. They know because they willingly choose to become part of this future Annointed (Christ). Thus they commit their life entirely to this cause. In exchange God gives them the Holy Spirit to strengthen and guide them in this life. The outsiders don't understand the spiritual meanings. They are outside the Temple having a natural light but the called ones ate in the Holy room seeing through the Menorah. They are the only ones in danger of death because they can commit the sin against the Holy Spirit. They are also the firstborn of Egypt. Only they were in danger the rest of family was not.

Redemption = Deliverance
Shalom Brother James, thanks for your great word and sincere honesty about your struggles. I will try to give you some light about how to control those lustful thoughts. First, everything is and starts with a Thought. The word Thought in Hebrew is Maschev which means " a creation or to create ". This is the word used in Isaiah when God said your thoughts are not my thoughts. A thought is a creation in our spirit which is instantaneously manifested in our brains. In order to control the production of evil thoughts ( lust included ) it's extremely important to first identify the precise moment a Maschev/Creation is forming in your mind in order to stop it. If you don't detect it while it's being produced and let it continue then the thought will be fully created. Once the thought has been fully created it will be in your mind and will stay in your mind like those old pictures you still remember. The same rule applies for stopping those lustful thoughts . The word says to " keep all of your thoughts captive " which affirms my teaching. Also remember what Yeshua told us: " the eyes are the lamp of the body, therefore if your eyes are good then all of your body will be in light but if your eyes are bad then all of your body will be in darkness ". That means that we have to be extremely careful where we place our sight to because it can lead to life or death. Your prayer of redemption is very good and yes Adonai has the power to also help us in our struggles. Always remember that the origin of Sin started with a thought and thoughts are still the main propeller to create Sin in us. My three step secret to stop evil thoughts: Detect it when it's being created, stop it from forming and Create a Godly thought to replace the evil creation. For those who love the word of God: John 16:28-33 is during the last supper. This a careful refutation of the doctrine of the trinity with the use of the words “not alone.” Also in John 8:16,29. Jesus is the Way, along with the rest of scripture it is difference between believing you are a saved created being or a spiritual child of God with the potential for godliness.

When you understand the difference between temptation and sin it clarifies many things when it comes to the being slave of sin and the worshiping God with mind just like in Romans 7:23
The fact that the uncomfortable pictures comes to mind or that i have ability to undress in nanosecond does not mean that I sin. Everything is decided by what I want after that and do I decide in my mind to condemn the thought or do I accept it. And by accepting it I do not literally mean that I do it, but that in my mind I consciously continue the train of unpure thoughts.
We can never be righteous. Our righteousness comes from the righteousness of Christ. It is the Spirit us empowers us to over come our tendency to live according to the flesh. We will never be sanctified(perfect) until we enter Heaven, but by acknowledging our sinful nature and confessing our failures to God we submit our lives so that the Spirit can work in us.
Can the command (by Paul?) to "live to God in Christ Jesus" be interpreted as to understand the teachings of Jesus and practice them? This is the commandment implicit in Mathew 7:24-27 and in John 13:34-35 and John 15:12-17. Paul has many excellent teachings, but in my opinion he sometimes uses language that is not clear in its meaning. Maybe there is some loss in translation or in context. The teachings and examples (Parables) in the gospels are more direct and unambiguous and thus easier to understand than some of Paul's writings.
What a beautiful prayer at minute 33!!! All except a life-long spouse are to be treated as brothers and sisters and children of God. And sex in marriage is to be an act of love and devotion, not lust.

You are so right about how much teaching we hear (and I have delivered) that is theoretical, and therefore vain. Dr Tour, the key to rid off lusty thoughts is a lengthy process of fasting and prayer (preferably including confession and holy adoration and eucharist, but you're not a catholic probably). Been there, done that. It will gradually let go if you stay focused on that slow progress, but may never leave entirely because as aquired in early age it is cemented in the nature from the moment you grew out of child level neuroplasticity.

Dr Tour is giving us honest advice and solutions from his experience… which is the best solution on this subject… never heard anyone open on this level in my 45 years Christian life. He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy. Proverbs 28:13

Another prayer Pastor David Wilkerson (founder of Teen Challenge) would share with us was the spiritual warfare he went through every time he went to the podium to preach, Satan would attack his thoughts. All sorts of evil, wicked and perverted thoughts would assail him trying to make him give up! He would go to prayer crying then one day our Father God told him to rebuke those thoughts they are not yours, Satan is attacking your thoughts trying to make you so discouraged you would stop delivering My message.

Yes, Jesus claimed to be God. Only God could save mankind from sin. Christ, God in the flesh, died on the cross for all of us. His shed blood pays for our sin. His resurrection validates it and makes it so.
