Ah, this was my very first digital camera! My father bought it in summer 2000 for about 325€ and I loved it a lot! I took tons of pictures with it, mostly at parties. Unfortunately I forgot it in a hotel room in 2005 and only realized it days later... I'm still a bit sad about it two decades later and thinking about trying to get one on ebay for nostalgia. I thought it made decent beautiful pictures, but that was because my CRT monitor back in the day maxed out at the resolution of the camera. Even printed on real photo paper for the old school family album they looked ok for the time. But what I HATED about this camera was that stupid macro switch, that I very often forgot to switch back to normal mode. Since I never used the screen to save battery I often realized very late, that I ruined a lot of shots because the macro mode was still active. 🤣
@@JohnyDigiCam3000 Thank you! I think I will buy one as soon as I can find one that is not damaged from battery leakage. But I've already found a solution how to conveniently transfer the pictures from the SmartMedia card to a modern laptop. The company Hama still sells a multi card reader, that has a slot for SmartMedia. It also reads xd-picture cards from Olympus, Sony's memorystick, CompactFlash, and of course various types of SD cards. Nearly everything you could find in digital cameras of the last 30 years. And it only costs between 10-20€, used even less. Maybe such a device would also be interesting for you?
@@babytiny5807 Most of them have leaked batteries. You can see it on the pictures. If the color of the case is stained and darkened at the bottom near the battery slots, there was severe battery leakage and it is unpredictable if it also reached the electronics or even the sensor. But I've indeed found one about three weeks ago on ebay from the UK. Shipping to Germany was fast, reasonable priced and no problems with customs. Overall in good condition, but it has about 30 hot pixels that are visible in low light. Early CCD cameras didn't had the possibility to remap the pixels to prevent hot pixels from appearing, but that can easily be fixed in post. So it's ok. Fun fact: I checked the 20+ years old pictures from my original camera and even that one already had some hot pixels that I never noticed back in the day. Anyway, I'm happy that I have it back. Nostalgia is wild... 😂
I really like watching videos about your digicam collection! Having been born in 2007, my only memory of digicams was of a later model of the Sony Cybershot, that I unknowingly broke as a child. Now that I finally got my hands on a 2 megapixel 2002 digicam, it feels like I'm reliving an era that I wasn't even born to begin with haha. I'm obsessed with the 1-5 megapixel look.
My first digital camera was and is the Kodak DC5000, 2.1 mp. Still working today! Really enjoying finding older digicams with CCD sensors. I try not to buy any that are lower than 4mp. Thanks for sharing! Not bad images from that Fuji!
I like the ones under 4 Mp, but they are hard to find :) not for the quality, but for the construction, buttons, pixelated screen and other old stuff :) i have some Sony Mavica digicams that use Floppy Disk as memory. Thanx for appreciation and comment!
I remember when my father bought a 7MP Casio, after we had a few older ones. My friends were amazed by the megapixel count, and basically everybody said you don't need so much MP's :D
1999? Super omule.

That's an interesting story, i also look for old cameras that i had, just for nostalgia. The feeling is great, you should get it. Thanx and good luck!

These are really cheap now, can see multiple on eBay for around 20 GBP that are working with returns accepted. At least here in UK
@@babytiny5807 Yes, indeed... that's good for nostalgics :)

Nice, me too.. i have a few 1.3Mp cameras in my collection. Hard to use, slow speed, retro sounds, stuff like that :)) it's cool.

@@JohnyDigiCam3000 nici-o problema! Super video
Multumesc!
where do you find all of that cameras?
I've been looking for them online, for sale, in the last 10-15 years, just from time to time.. also some friends gave me a few..
How many photos can the 8mb card store?
i don't remember... but at that small resolution, i guess aproximatly 50..
I have an 8mb card for my MX-2700 and it stores 17 photos
@@thegreatandterribleday6244 Ok, i guess it also depends on the settings and other things...
@@JohnyDigiCam3000 for sure, the 2700 is also double the mb then the 1200.
@@thegreatandterribleday6244 Ok :) have fun with it!
