I used to say that, once you reach a decent skill level, GBL is 90% about playing the right team at the right time. This season it feels like it's 95% rps, 4% rng and 1% gameplay skill. The skill that counts is knowing which team to play that day. Great league is awful with all the rps teams, Ultra is in a sad state and Master League (which was my favourite last season, finally being able to play it after grinding XL candy for years) is now ruined with all Zygarde-Solgaleo cores.
What's rps?
@@user-lg9qi7ki6l it means "rock-paper-scissors"
I rarely play GBL anymore but I agree. It’s almost always: Did you win the lead? Then you win. Did you lose the lead? You’re probably going to lose.
I'm in the 2500s. Yesterday I went 5-0, 0-5, 4-1, and 0-5 in the Hisui Cup. Just like 5 hard counter teams in a row followed by 5 teams I hard counter. I have an ABB team which usually helps mitigate lead losses but not so much in this cup. So yeah your experience is the same as mine right now.
I think in the 2200s-2800s that's been true for several seasons now. At least in my play though, I always can reach Expert but then just get smacked around by falling Legends if I reach into the 2900s. Still have never made Legend since I started playing 3-4 years ago but have made Expert every seasons since early 2021. So skill does win out but I would imagine most players are bouncing around the 2000s like you said.
@@WilliamN86 The Hisui cup feels like a pure bastiodon rps cup, so I'm not surprised. I stay away from that cup. I got stuck in GL around 2800 about a week ago, tried different things and had a horrible run down to 2500. Built an anti-Bastidon, Wigglytuff, Victreebel team and I'm currently at 2900+.
Keep them new shadow showcases coming !
I was never really behind nerfing it in the first place, so i might be biased, but... I think it's time to bring nidoqueen back in the meta. A strong poison ground type with the tools to handle shadow vic would absolutely dismantle any of these fast move pressure lines.
And yeah a scald rework is absurdly necessary, preferably in a way that just makes it more consistent
Always down for nidoqueen!!!!
Current meta sucks, currently stuck between 2750-2900 MMR, think I'm in the Basti elo. I hit legend the last 4 seasons in a row and managed to get above 3,300 MMR last season, hitting leader boards. Lowering the debuff % on scald and buffing water type counters, might help balance things for next season!? Hoping to push for Legend this season running Gligar/Licky/Dewgong and having reasonable success with this team. Good luck with your push :)
The reason the season is like this is because of Nerfing and bad decisions...
All the complaints you just shared are literally due to nerfing moves and pokémon last season...
but...
You want them to do it again at the end of this season to make it better?
Nerfing moves or pokémon that are too powerful with a certain move is never the answer.
This is when certain pokémon and certain moves should be introduced in the game to cause natural balance organically.
You know what doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results means right?
Would you run snarl for UL? I got a rank 1 0/15/15 shadow. And would you think it’s worth it for UL?
I'm so excited for shadow Crawdaunt, corphish was always my favorite water type.
Really don't lile the current meta. Fast move beatdown teams suck, and if it isn't those there's rng Attack Debuff teams.
Imo, makes Scald 30 percent chance for a debuff. 50 percent was a stupid idea, and 30 would make games come down to less of a coin flip.
Wild to me how they make so many mons good purely off of attack debuffs. The most recent one being Landorus-T in ML. Like, they just nerfed Breaking Swipe and now there's so many more Attack Debuffs across every league.
Also if Smack Down gets nerfed, I really hope they buff Bite so Tyranitar can still do something in ML. Snarl could be interesting for Tyranitar too.
Scald became extremely centralizing in singles in the main series games for the 30% burn chance and it’s like they didn’t take any notes on that at all when they added it into Pgo.
I want Niantic to chill out with introducing so many debuffing moves. Also, next season, I want buffs to the handful of 1 turn fast moves that have remained total garbage this whole time but are on SO MANY pokemon (bite, scratch, bug bite, cut)
Damn wish i would have played better haha, running the cradiliy, poli team, GGs Jonkus!
How do you get two attacks and how do you get to use them so fast? Very new to this game lol
Im struggling so much this season! I am usually legend as well. But it seems I can't find any kind of consistent team that has a lot of play. There are so many RPS matchups where there is literally nothing I can do even if I play perfectly....
It feels like the issues with the meta are going to stay going forward. Theres always been a push towards bulk, and with attack debuffs becoming increasingly common it just makes the whole thing even slower and more boring.
Add to that the ever increasing inconsistencies and GBL just feels like a chore. I hope they can do some decent balance changes, as there's a lot that could be good in this.
I'm struggling too. No consistency
The top teams on pvpoke was updated 4 days ago
The only way to fix the meta is making attack weighted pokemon's stats more comparable to defensive weighted ones, niantic will never do it so the meta will always be whatever rps team is currently strong
I hit Legend last week (which is when I usually reach it in the season), but I honestly felt like the meta was fine. Sorry to hear that you're struggling, but I don't have any complaints with it personally. It's easier to complain than it is to actually solve the problem.
It is what it is…
I complain about 50% scald since season start… and it will get worse… cause like I know Niantic they spread out new and more debuff moves with next season.
I only played at the battle week and it was not predictable… sometimes I lost 10 fights in a row sometimes I won 10-15 in a row.
I play a meta off meta team 😁 with chesnaught/Talon/s. Charizard and it works not as bad as it looks like (in 2600-2800ELO) but the problem with this meta right now is, that there are Player up to 2800 which should not be there… they make senseless plays and catch you off guard cause you expect in this ELO Player which know what they are doing. It’s not about to be a bit to greedy by farmdowns, sometimes it feels like you play against someone who is 1000ELO to high… this compared to 50% debuff chances and this RPS small meta is for me the problem.
Agency stocks really going to the moon if Mr Craw even got stakes in spinoff games
The meta is ok the only thing I would like are new fast and charge moves
Running Crawdaunt without Crabhammer? Unheard of
Think people should play wat they want to and not wat is meta the game get really boring when every match u play is a meta team and everyone can read u team wat fun in by seeing one pokemon u can tell the person team
hi, i found right now the rank 1 of shadow bastiodon. what should i do? purify or keep the shadow version and spend over 700k dust to the lvl 50? (sorry for my english)
If you have rank 1 shadow, I think you should build it... it's expensive with dust and XL candy, but regular bastiodon does not run return, so there would be no point in purifying besides the cheaper cost
@@vibeguy_ thanks brother
I would love to see Scale Shot added as a Fury Cutter clone... so we'd get more viable Dragon moves (we have 2 so far...) and I'd love to see Scald nerf, Charm nerf, Counter nerf, Iron Tail buff, Bite buff, Water Gun buff (it is just less powerful Dragon Breath)... also I'd like to see change to Breaking Swipe, make it 100% attack debuff, but less damage (in main series it is 60 power, 1 stage attack debuff and Dragon Claw is 80 power, it would make so much sense to have a move that is not just recycled old move...)
I think we should get scale shot as a mud shot clone
@@SourSalmon well... I was going with it as a Fury Cutter clone in MSG... but Mud Shot clone is fine... I was just going after a low damage-high energy Dragon move
But steelix will be annoying
@@Lucky69K it still is and will always be... 40 Power and 35 Energy with 100% 1 stage attack debuff... that's a " non-STAB Bone Club" with a debuff on a pokemon with low attack
I don't think nerfing razor leaf smack down and charm is a good idea, it really won't bring more Pokemon in it'll just take pokemon out that are already on the verge of being bad outside of catching switch advantage. You can do things like giving them other moves like Vine Whip or Fairy Wind but be careful of what you wish and also you lose a huge part of what the game is with these big fast move pressure attacks. What I think would be a compromise is making them the same stats but 5 turn moves like Incinerate, but it's still a nerf on high level play...
What is really the issue is that it's hard to make teams the more viable pokemon are there and the meta feels both limited and in chunks where you prepare a team for a chunk of the meta only
Scald buff was a mistake. Was a fine move already now it's just obnoxious
Speaking of crawdaunt, i'd like to see crabhammer's buffs 😢
Scald just does the same damage + has a higher chance to do smth :(
@@JonkusPKMN yes but crabhammer is only for crab thingy while scald is everwhere now 😅
I think it’s time for aegislash, would do well against basti/vic and neutral to wiggly. It would probably end up just as annoying in the meta but there needs to be a change. A lot of us borderline expert/legend players aren’t playing much because it’s just not fun anymore with the fast move teams
Current meta is shadow dnair XL lickitung bastiodon charm razor leaf nothing else its soo annoying and if try to run counter to shadow dnair lead I'll get some incinerate user
Not true
So true.
@@Costpent23how so?
@@SourSalmon At my Elo basti and charm are rarely seen , whiscash skarmory and azu are very common
There's this Mon called dewgong
can you please stop slapping lickalung on so many of your teams?
