  • @bardoface
    @bardoface 7 месяцев назад +2

    Slayer was just redundant with compositions anyway. Everything after the first three albums was rehashed and still in the key of E!!!! Lol! Those open E crunchy cords. Sooo lazy and formulaic, but that’s the bread and butter, isn’t it?!!! But they weren’t lazy as road dogs, that’s for sure!

    • @mattmillerguitar
      @mattmillerguitar  7 месяцев назад

      I agree Slayer is redundant and did stick to a formula. That formula worked when they were inspired, imo and when the band was a united front. Nothing wrong with sticking to what you know and making the most of it. However this was just phoning it in. Metal by numbers. Again not the worst thing but definitely below Slayer standards imo.

      I said something a long those lines in my first Slayer video. Christian Illusion has some good tracks. God Hates us All has a few decent songs, World Painted Blood was ok. Repentless wasn't thar great. Are they terrible albums? No, but definitely not on par with the earlier catalog. The albums have some good songs but it seemed like the band had changed.

  • @evil_antikrist2053
    @evil_antikrist2053 7 месяцев назад +2

    This track is exactly what I was expecting. FAR from great, but not bad at all. Fast and violent, simple, catchy and minimalistic structures, little to no dynamics. KK doing his thing. Sound is a little plastic, and that's my biggest gripe. Pretty sure a more natural-sounding production would've helped for the song's vibe. I don't feel it's a leftover from Repentless since it's better (imo) than a couple tracks on Slayer's last. Vocals do the job, very Araya-esque. I won't buy the album for sure, but I'll give a couple listens out of curiosity. A couple songs are gonna grow on me. And yeah, there's gonna be fillers. The guy is 60 and can still do tolerable stuff. I respect that. Later Slayer fans will certainly dig it.

    Why B Rate Slayer? Since Kerry King wrote a great majority of Slayer’s music aside from Hanneman. GET IT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULLS, SLAYER IS NOW GONE.
    I actually enjoyed this new song from Kerry. Lol, didn’t sound anything like Megadeth at all 😂🤦🏻

    • @mattmillerguitar
      @mattmillerguitar  7 месяцев назад +1

      The gallop riff sounded just like We'll Be Back. KK did write some great songs, no doubt. My point on B rate Slayer comes from what Kerry said himself. The song was recorded during the Repentless sessions, and it wasn't good. The drummer and 1 guitarist are the same. I'm sure Gary could play that track in his sleep. Slayer bass isn't anything challenging. The only thing marginally different is the vocals. Mark did a great job on the track, no doubt. However, if the band was the same rhythmically, then the vocals were the problem. Kerry also stated that Tom's performance wasn't always inspired. It's tough to be inspired when the music isn't that great. Is it horrible? No. Tom knew it was time to bail because the last few Slayer records weren't that great. Kerry said this is the natural extension of Slayer. If that's the case, I agree with you. I'm glad Slayer isn't coming back. It was a disservice to what they created. I just don't understand why a song that didn't cut it with Slayer is the lead single for a new album? Especially when there are potentially better songs to select as per what Kerry had said about the tracks on the album. Thanks for the comment
