Yes. Any medications need prescription so you will tell the patient so and do whatever can relieve the pain at that time eg positioning. Then proceed with the assessment. You have also reassure the patient that you will check their prescription chart for any due analgesics.

You will verbalize to the assessor that the state of the patient doesn't allow so you proceed to using the paperwork and wrist band
