That brings back memories of my 1964 MG Midget. I have to look at old photos to remember what she looked like. Except the bottom of the car. Somehow that is etched in my brain!
Enjoyed that update Nick, the underneath looks to be in excellent order with very little signs of welding, its lasted well for a Dagenham Dustbin, look forward to the reassembly.
Thank you Mr. P. Yes it’s really good underneath, it’s a shame it wasn’t painted properly, some paint flaking off and some stuck hard, the whole thing would need to be stripped to a bare shell and sand blasted but this will tidy it up and keep it for a few years, it will be for the next generation to decide what to do when I’m gone 🤔😉😊
Hi Nick. Good to see you got most of your parts. Wow it looked like a grande went off inside the housing. Can't wait to see the ol car back on the road. Cheers
Thank you Robert, it wasn’t good lol, can’t wait to get it up and running again, been missing driving the old girl, and it’s got a really good heater for in the winter😁👍 All the best, Nick.🐸🐸
Thank you Glyn, all well here thanks, I hope you and yours are too.😊👍I don’t know about me having skills lol, I’m learning all the time, luckily my brother though not an engineer by trade, is brilliant with all this stuff, he’s rebuilt countless engines and restored many tractors over the years, he is helping me a lot, if I get stuck on how to do anything he shows me what to do or helps me do it and any stuff like pressing off bearings and such like he does for me, plus he has a well equipped workshop. Take care, all the best, Nick.🐸🐸
Great update Nick that bearing was shot lol I'm surprised it kept working good to see you have most of the bits , it should sound good when it's driving along the road next time keep the updates going. Ralph
Thank you Ralph, I think I was lucky to get home with the old girl, lucky I was only about a mile away when it started to clonk, hopefully it will be nice and quiet when it’s done, I’m looking forward to getting it back on the road again, I miss driving it. Take care, all the best, Nick.🐸🐸
Blimey that knackered bearing made a mess but, although it's expensive for parts, it's worth it for the fun and pleasure of taking it out on a sunny day. That car is a little beauty. Anne-Marie wants me to sell a couple of my old tractors and buy an old car instead so that we can go for a drive out on a Sunday and have our dinner out in a country pub. 😁 I know a place that you should be able to get those high tensile bolts from, if you're struggling to find them. I'm not saying they'll definitely have them but all the tractor dealers around here source bolts etc from them, they're a brilliant firm. I assume they're an imperial size bolt. I'll email their details to you so, if need be, you can contact them. Looking forward to next weeks restoration video. All the best. Peter.
Hi Peter and thank you for your email, yes once it is back on the road it will be nice to go on Sunday drives with it again, it has a really good old fashioned heater in it, a bit like the old Bedford TK heaters, gets you toastie warm in no time, so good for drives on chilly days too, as long as it’s dry, because the vacuum wipers are rubbish lol plus I don’t like taking the old girl in the rain😊😉 You’ll have to tell your wife an old car would look nice along side the tractors, not instead of lol😉😁 Take care, all the best, Nick🐸🐸

She's a gem, even needing work.
Gonna be hard getting her into a display case, though... 😉
Thank you Martin, ha yes lol, I might have to have a custom made display case😁😉👍 All the best, Nick.🐸🐸
