I've been collecting mint and proof sets from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the U.K. and others. As I'm in the U.S. (Washington State), I don't have the opportunity to coin hunt these countries. And I love having Brilliant UNC coins in the collection. The yellowing is very common in plastic. I get it on my older hot wheels and figures all the time. It has never affected the item inside. . I’ve gone back & collected every decimal mint set, only proof sets I have are more the special ones where the proof differs from the mint set coin. That’s interesting the yellowing of the coins in the 1980s sets, I’ll have to dig mine out to see if that has happened to mine
I have a yellowed 1984 mint set as well. Very common as the mint plastic used was faulty i think. I have not checked the coins. The mint always releases the mint sets in November or early December the year before so the dollar wasnt made then. This years mint set is the exception as it was very late commig out . Very plain packaging is a bit poor i think. The mint products latley are all down on quality i think. I did like the new Zealand set. Good pickup.

Not seen the yellowing before, be interested to hear what the go is & if it affects the coins 🙂
@@peterrobins3708 I’m half tempted to open the packaging but I also want to keep them in the packaging.
I also have the new KCIII mint set and agree with you that they missed an opportunity to make the insert more special.
The coin is unaffected by the yellowing plastic, I had received one in a lot that was split so I removed the coin.

@@blyth1969 Yeah I’m hoping there might be someone that responds in the comments that has opened a set that had yellow packaging to share if it makes the coins yellow.

Maybe the mint is trying to depict King Charlie's personality with the plain boring packaging.
@@MAC...007 I seriously doubt that. Very disrespectful if so.
The ANDA effigies of the Queen that came out last year were also plain inside the case so think it’s more the RAM being lazy on the inside packaging more than anything else.
Hi my name fabian i have 5c coins from 1966 to 2022 lot of them with yellow colouring.
