  • I've been following a herd of about 20 bighorn rams for about the last six months. These are all males who lost out on mating rights. They're getting used to seeing me, so I'm getting closer shots each time with my GoPro, no telephoto lens.
These sheep wound up in Colorado Springs by accident. In the 1970s around nine sheep were being transported to a remote location in the Rampart Range. The sheep began to rock the trailer near Cave of the Winds and almost knocked it over. To avoid injuring them further they were set free at that location. For two years no one saw them and thought they were dead. But then they showed up in huge numbers at Glen Eyrie, a ranch next to Garden of the Gods. Since then they've roamed between the two locations. Their numbers have increased to about 100.

Colorado Springs is a big city, the second biggest in Colorado. Unlike Denver there are a lot of open spaces, so we get a lot of wildlife.
I'm very lucky to live here. Thanks for watching.

@@Mine-Finder I used to live in Boulder back in the 80's. So yes I know the area, a little anyway.
