  • Graham has always said that "West is Best", but South Australia is about to blow that statement out of the water! For this trip, Steph is taking over the convoy lead and showing the crew a locals-only side to one of Australia's most underrated 4WD destinations, the Eyre Peninsula. Wild coastal cliffs, pure white beaches, cliff-top camping, stunning 4WD tracks, and great fishing... this place is a hidden gem! Big thanks to Steph's local family connections, we'll get access to secret King George Whiting fishing spots miles off-shore, plus private campsites and the famous Squid Parmi in Arno Bay.
    When and where is your next adventure? Tell us about it and spare no detail!
    The last time you saw the Off-Grid crew they were taking on the mighty Nullarbor track that took them all the way to South Australia and onto the edge of an incredible 4x4 destination the Eyre Peninsula, located between the Nullarbor and Adelaide! Check out that episode here: • Jaw dropping cliff top...

    Love these OFF GRID episodes. I know a lot of people on here love the other stuff, but I remember it was this type of go explore Australia stuff that got my wife and I stuck on this franchise 14 years ago back in the 4WD Action mag days when we would be counting down the days for the next mag and DVD to find where they would take us next. Those episodes literally made us go out and buy that first 4WD, throw on some essential after market additions, and as a young family with our young kids go out a see more of Australia than most ever do. Its stuff like this that inspired some of the best memories we have made for ourselves by following Graham (and back then Rothy's) examples.
    Just wish we did not have to wait so many weeks between each new new OFF GRID episode, its almost like being back in the mag days and seeing this kind of inspiring stuff once a month.

    I went to Oz to work on a project (Olympic Dam) based in Adelaide in 2008. First thing I did was to buy a LC200 V8 & had it modded with Mikey Thompsons, ARB bull bar, nitro shocks/lift, rear drawers, 2w radio , spots, ARB compressor etc etc. I also started with a Kimberly Kamper and eventually upgraded to the Karavan. Because the Eyre peninsula was so close to Adelaide we spent a lot of time doing trips to the Eyre peninsula (I was also on a 4 day week due to the financial crisis & made every 2nd weekend a 4day weekend). We swam with sea lions in Baird bay, camped in Coffin bay and thoroughly explored the whole region as far up as Parachilna and the Flinders ranges, including Wilpena pound and as far west as the Big Galah. We also did the Simpson crossing, Birdsville track, saw Lake Eyre full of water etc. I moved to Brissie (by road via, Coober Pedy, Uluru, Kings Canyon, Palm Valley (I’m from Africa and have never seen insects like those in Palm Valley) & Mt Isa etc )and we also thoroughly explored that area. Stayed in Oz for 8 years and have very fond memories (which this video brought back). Grandchildren are in the UK so.................happy wife.......happy life.

      @joshburke4083 Год назад

      @@ApexHerbivore You can't go wrong with any direction you go but I'd do a lap of the island to get the most out of it.
      But to name a few areas, definitely lots of tracks on the West Coast (Napoleon hill is one I'd love to do), McKenzie country, Fiordland to name a few.

    • @ApexHerbivore
      @ApexHerbivore Год назад +1

      @@joshburke4083 Thanks bud. I guess I just wanted to know your favourite spots in case I hadn't been there. I remember getting rained off the Abel Tasman track, pancake rocks, Franz Josef glacier, Milford Sound, Arthur's pass, and Kaikoura. Probably more if I racked my brain. There's tons of places I didn't go though. Maybe I'll draw my old route on a map and try to fill the gaps haha.
      If you think of any amazing spots, let me know :)
