  • WCBS 880 New York - Wayne Cabot & Paul Murnane - FINAL MORNING SHOW - August 22 2024 - Radio Aircheck
WCBS Newsradio 880, a staple of New York City radio, has been delivering breaking news and information to listeners for decades.
Known for its in-depth coverage of local, national, and international events, the station has played a vital role in keeping NY, NJ & Conn informed. WCBS had a team of experienced journalists and reporters, like Charles Osgood, Lou Adler, Art Athens, Jim Donnelly, Pat Parson, Ben Farnsworth, Don Swaim, Jeff Caplan, Wayne Cabot, and many others kept New Yorkers informed. The station's commitment to providing reliable and accurate news has made it a trusted source for countless New Yorkers from the station's launch in 1967, to its demise in 2024.
On this aircheck, you'll hear highlights of the final Newsradio 880 WCBS morning Show with Paul Murnane & Wayne Cabot.
Feel free to check out some of the many other videos on the Ellis B Feaster's Radio Channel! Established in 2008! One of You Tube's oldest RADIO AIRCHECK MUSEUM with a NEW VIDEO posted daily at 3PM EST.
After over 40 years working on the radio, I have recorded lots of radio airchecks, and many from my friends as well. You'll find audio of many radio personalities who have passed away. Lots radio recordings from the 1940s, through the 2010.
We also talk about radio broadcasting. If you happen to have classic airchecks, maybe even of yourself on the air, we'd love to share it here! If you are on the radio, or do voiceovers for You Tube videos, I have tips to make your radio show or video voiceovers better!
In addition to sharing audio from my 40 years in broadcasting, we also share videos about Travel & Cruising. I share tips on how I travel cheaply, so you can do it also!

Remember listening to WCBS 880 as a kid in the 80s to get live updates from Wimbledon and the US Open tennis. Every so often they would go to someone on site (was it Ann Ligouri?), but it was the only way to get live updates until the local evening news. Sad to see it go by the wayside, like so many other hallmarks of my youth!
Thanks Ellis Feaster - love your channel.

👑🌟I've worked my way backwards from the radio jingles to this "broadcast". I really enjoyed this upload, LOVED THE TICKER! Great to have Foxx and Annie from the FM side interact with them! Loved their plugs of audio history snippets they added! @29:30 news...for New York, New Jersey, and KENTUCKY! Point made @40:20-40:57, let's hear it for the "dinosaur". @46:06 Stiller&Meara!
@47:30😆 1:14:28 He worked at WFIL in Philly?!?!?! WOW!
They said they were a couple of Dads doing the "Dad jokes"; this was SOOOO full of character👑 Thx for posting these Ellis! 👍🏻😁⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

As a college kid who started in ny radio….i cannot express the sadness in this.. in so many aspects of my life. I will forever miss the essence and prescience of this place. Working now in television since 1987…this is a large loss…..if not for the Mets … the 880 preset will be lost.❤️

i wonder will audacy end the formats of many other heritage audacy news and news talk stations across the country? The question had to be asked by someone given what happened with WCBS 880 .

I didn’t realize they changed the sounder package from the “Man Made” disaster to this current one. The Traffic and Weather sounder is sexy to say the least. Or I should say “was”

8:03-8:42 - the teletype SFX WCBS used from around late 1972 to c.1987. Again, I could tell that those teletypes were Model 28 - one photo taken in the teletype room showed three Model 28's in a corner, and it appears that they recorded that SFX in that corner.

1:24:42 - second version of "four tones" notice, by Allen Berns; much preferred the Bill Martin version from the '70's.

Oh it’s you again… i like this guy. I loved how 88 overridden the automation system to insert that for the special.
