    I remember in the movie that Hammond says that raptors imprint on the first thing it sees. So I'm guessing if Dr. Grant and Co. ran by the baby raptor again, being chased by the adults, the baby probably tried defending them like: "leave my family alone," but seeing how it was just a baby and trying to take on multiple adults it died. That's why it took the raptors an extra minute or so to catch up to them.

    I think the adult raptors killing and eating the baby raptor fits with normal pack behavior. Outsiders, even babies of the same species are not welcome in just any pack. Perhaps it’s survival of the fittest or perhaps the baby is a rival in some way to the pack of raptors hunting our protagonists, but whatever the reason, it is a natural behavior

      There was actually a similar scene in the Dino TV series primeval, series 2 opens with an episode featuring raptors
      Now there's a baby and in an attempt to lure out the adult they capture the baby but when the adult arrives it just eats the baby swallowing it whole, there was clearly no care from the adult to the young dispute it arriving due to the captured baby giving off a signal for help

      Sadly yes, its just how it is. Jurassic Park Raptors in the novel are also highly aggressive, even to their own young and if one is factually hurt, its eaten. The only Raptor is of not such behavior is Blue due to her raising and gens. Jurassic Park 3 Raptors though, possibly could be more caring than the novel ones, based off their behavior of their eggs and how gentle they were with their eggs.

    As much as I don't want to believe that grown Velociraptors actually killed the baby Raptor, it makes so much sense! But, I also have my own theory. This might sound crazy...but...what if Dr. Wu used growth acceleration on the baby Raptor, the same thing he used on Bumpy the Ankylosaurus!? This would mean that the baby would be fully grown and on her own, and doing just fine! Shadows, I can't thank you enough for uploading this video that I requested! You really made my day! Keep up the great work!

      It's common for some animals especially reptiles to eat the young even their own young. I don't know the whole science behind it I just know with bearded dragons for example you don't leave the young with the mother or even with each other.

    In one of the first scenes in the Lost World novel one of the scientists sees the raptors tear apart a juvenile that attempted to feed with the pack.
    It’s theorized that the velociraptors in original JP/Lost world are so vicious because they don’t have proper parenting/socialization with their own kind.
    It’s not until the second generation on Isla Sorna in JP3 that we see true pack social society with raptors.

    • @BlueCadet7
      @BlueCadet7 8 месяцев назад +8

      The Raptors on Isla Sorna have a prion disease in the novel. It makes them act erratically and more aggressively.

      True. In the 2nd book, it was every predator for itself; Harding saw the vast differences from the predators she researched, to the dinosaurs on the island. Adults attacking the young, while only the most-viscious survive.

  • @jessehutchings
    @jessehutchings 6 месяцев назад +20

    The death of the baby raptor in the novel story was one of the scariest and most memorable parts for me. If you know about birds and other animals and their babies if their babies smell like humans they may be rejected by the parents. So, the baby nuzzling the kids basically set it up to be rejected by the adult raptors which otherwise might have adopted it. Later in the novel story we are treated to a scene of a raptor nesting lair which also highlights the family oriented nature of the raptors.

    • @GeneralNaga67
      @GeneralNaga67 6 месяцев назад

      The whole “birds will reject their babies if human touch them” is a complete myth made up to stop little children from picking them up and accidentally killing them.
      No animal will reject their child simply because it has a different smell. They will simply rub it off.
      The only real danger of a human touching an animal baby is that you might ruin their scent camouflage, ie putting your smell on it, making it easier for other animals to find it.

    I had imagined myself in that scenario and I'd cry when that baby dies. If I could I'd keep the baby and not try to chance it and find another way out with the baby. Plus, if the baby would remain imprinted to adulthood I'd have a great bond and comrade with the raptor.

    Long story short lol. The Adult ate the baby raptor. Ok there done😅😂 One of the Adult Raptors probably ate the baby while looking for Alan and the others in the control room. One Raptor hears the cry of the baby and that makes the adult needing to eliminate it as that's how pack behavior is. I recommend everyone to give the novel a try because its FAR better. The novel also answers your question that Dinosaurs were on the main land from the beginning. Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom weren't the only ones but way before that.

    I don’t think the movie copied the book exactly since movie John Hammond is slightly less obsessed with money than his book counterpart and his book death was given to one of the mercenaries in the lost world and book Donald Gennaro doesn’t abandon Lex and Tim when the T-Rex breaks out to go hide in the bathroom like in the movie

    Aww, that is extremely sad, I dunno if you mentioned it during the video, but is the time span in the novel longer or something? It kinda feels like it would take a while for the newborn raptor to grow enough to start following humans around.
    Anyway, great video, would've been really nice for that baby raptor to get more screen time in the first movie, though, maybe didn't get the same gruesome ending as in the novel, I mean, Grant and Sattler should've known better as scientists they are, it's pretty common that animals kill their own species' babies for a myriad of reasons like different scent, or hell, male lions kill all the cubs that aren't their own when they take over the alpha lion's pride.

  • @zae_thunder4541
    @zae_thunder4541 8 месяцев назад +7

    yea the novel i would definitely agree would be the 100% the authentic source. i also think it could of been cut content in the film as it was just a baby and the scene would be far to gruesome to be a movie given the film was pushing for a PG13 rating and it may of been R rated if certain scenes were in the film. also movies in most cases have issues depicting babies and children getting harmed in a movie and in my eyes a baby raptor would share the same properties as a child or baby getting harmed even if its just a dinosaur it would be the same idea. so my guess is it got cut entirely as the dinosaur was just a baby so to save controversy it got cut thats my opinion

    Wonder if we'll see the baby in the new game...or she really is dead...hard to say. All we know for certain is that she's gone one way or another.
    ...
    Or maybe her remains are the reason why InGen was able to recreate the Velociraptors for IBRIS since the original embryos were rendered useless by Nedry. They somehow got the materials back to create a new park after all.

    Technically, it would've taken a week before the power and the system would be rebooted, thus three days would've gone by between Mr. Arnold's apparent death and Dr. Grant's approach to the primary fence with Tim and Lex, something that was left unexplained in 'this' film; and that leads me to the theory that the baby raptor in the film story might have died cold and starved before the clean up took place, so there is no way possible that there would be continuity connection between the Novels and the filmography franchise despite the similarities between the two halves of the over-all Jurassic franchise, the only bit of continuity by film I find from one of the mentioned graphic comics about Dennis Nedry's is the one thing that stays consistent to both sides of the franchise.

    I hate to disagree, but the raptors didn't chase Allan until after he found the kids and they got killed by Rexy basically right after that. So I don't think it lines up but I know it's only a possibility and a theory. But I know it most likely would've died some way, anyways.

    In the book it’s killed by the adult raptors which makes sense given some carnivores will kill offspring for many reasons. X x

    Um no some of the characters in the JP movie have completely different personalities than their book counterparts
    John Hammond in the book has the personality of movie gennaro and is obsessed with money, does not have the same relationship with Lex and Tim as the movie version does
