Plus if anythinggoes wrong whilst you are oit collecting cargo feom bounties you can quickly get back to your ship easily. (Just make sure you have a few helmets and underauits on board
Slight correction, it doesn't have the same amount of firepower with a crew as you stated. The copilot now has to CHOOSE between the other S5s and the turret, which is a demonstrable cut in firepower as its now impossible to fire all guns at once no matter how many people you have on board. Moreover, the now copilot controlled S5s have a fraction of the firing arc the pilot
I still really like the Corsair. I would prefer the final version of this ship not being the current version though. Perhaps making the co-pilot controlled front guns more like a actual turret with 180 degree fireing arc or something..
Corsair has a good ship. It's cargo hold gives it more versatility than the Connie, plus with a co-pilot it can be extremely deadly to large ships. I run Attritions as my pilot guns and ad5bs for the co-pilot. Also i have ballistics on all the turrets. If you use Industrial A for the shields, Competition B for the powerplant, and Stealth B for the coolers you will max out the power management with this weapon/components combo.
@derqatarzan4207 People say the same thing with the Corsair. Though the fact is CIG had to nerf the Corsair. John Crew's own words "the Corsair was responsible for responsible for over 40% of the kills." With a statement from CIG like that, and from personal experience, the Corsair outperforms the Connie.
@derqatarzan4207 Incorrect, it was in regards to PvP. And both ships have the same maneuverability stats. And getting guns is only something you worry about if you are a jouster, learn to pre-nose. But facts are facts, the Connie recieved a buff the same time th Corsair got a nerf and the Corsair is schedule for further tuning. But if all you want is a ship PvE combat then it doesn't matter because both get destroyed by a fighter. My statement was about versatility and an ability to punch up. The Corsair's cargo hold allows for more options, and it can hold more and a wider variety or vehicles. Plus without using the third layer you can fit 160scu in the hold, 3x 32scu 2x 24scu 2x 8scu. If you wanted to fill it up then you can add another 19x 4scu boxes, bringing its total capacity to 236scu. So when it comes to versatility the Corsair is above the Connie. But if you want a ship to take around the verse and do PvE then pick whichever you want, because neither ship is good in real PvP.
@ You took that literal, getting guns on target is pre-turning, you wouldn't hit anything otherwise. I know what the stats say, but owning both, the connie gets on target much easier and I find I can often out rate a corsair. I've never lost to a corsair in it. I'm not saying either are good for pvp, I said the connie will beat a corsair in pvp. The connie can be 3/4 dead and still fight, the corsair takes a few hits and it cant fly very good.
I really love the corsair. I think they over corrected by cutting its main armament in half though. It makes no sense. If they want that sub bridge to be useful, it wpuld be better if it controlled the s4 weapons i think. Also, gl to everyone for the giveaway
Last time I flew one, it just didn't fly well enough to get the guns on target. That was before the nerf, and I'd already switched to the Taurus for bounty looting for the increased cargo hold. Taking the time to loot bounties doesn't even feel worth it anymore with the increased mission rewards though. Get rep in Stanton, profit in Pyro. Now, if only the mission server would wake up on the PU.... Literally the only reason I'm not swimming in aUEC is it can take exceptionally long times for missions to repopulate right now so I've been playing other games.
needs an hp buff, its fire power was what use to hold up it only having 90k, with a heavy fighter like the guardian at 70k but connies having 160k plus etc is kinda criminal
@@Erad_Prime I guess I am just used to it. I prefer the Connie in a fight and the cargo is easy to grab if you are just looting a dead ship or something.
The corsair was a great ships, still is mostly, but the way those 2 s5 works now, and the fact that it tecnically can't have all of the turrets active anymore (same sit for either the top turret or the bottom S5 guns) are a real punch in guts for me
I want a Corsair just because I have the unfortunate desire to collect all the explorers. But I think that'll be an in game acquisition now. I had one for a bit, but I upgraded it to a ship more in line with my long term gameplay goals. Not interested in getting in fights, I'm going to focus more on patching ships up from fights.
Unfortunately, for many, the main defining characteristic of a ship, is whether, it is 'the best'. Obviously, some ships were designed and sold before balance was an issue. While sitting in a seat with a single role might be boring, in a large ship, there's likely no need to remain there, unless in a dangerous situation, and in future, we will need more than a single crew member just to take these ships out for a run.
I melted my Corsair after the nerf but then bought it back after some introspection. I like the ship and taking into account the across-the-board changes to shields, it still has one of the best DPS ratings for a multi-role ship, even solo. The Constellations still have four S5 pilot-controlled weapons, but I expect that to change sooner rather than later. The Corsair is more versatile and, in my opinion, looks better. Plus, even if it gets destroyed you still get a free flask when you claim a new one!
Despite the nerf, I still love flying this ship. To echo other comments, it's no so much the nerf itself that's the problem it's the way it was done, dropping the nose to size 4's seems a better option imo.
It's a bummer that storage lockers under the beds have infinite loading bug since 3.24.3. This is only one thing that block Ing me to buy this ship again i game. Maybe this time I check out Aquila.
I disagree. Nefering the pilot controlled wepons that significantlt is a killer for this ship. Reduce it to 3 pilot controlled weapons, not 2 and give the dedicated gunner an extra weapon. Make the ship something valuable. As it is, it is trash. I dont regret melting mine for an M2 at all.
The ship is still a good ship. I actually really love the ship, it was the first big purchase I ever made when I bought the game so it’s quite special to me. However, the way they nerve it is and always will be the biggest problem because Even when it’s fully crude, there’s going to be two guns that cannot be used because the copilot has to choose between either a limited arc for the front size 5 guns or the rear to cover the rear of the ship so at any given time with a full crew all guns will not be firing. This does not make sense CIG would’ve been better off to drop it down to what it was originally, which was for size 4 guns and two size threes for the pilot to control. Trying to push multi crew on a ship that was already multi crude that was balanceddue to. Yes they had heavy fire power, but it had the worst maneuverability and it was slower than a brick in concrete. It’s like driving a 1970 Lincoln town car a.k.a. it’s a boat and drives like a very slow one at that.
Unfortunately, MM is a significant nerf for Corsair, and another big nerf was added by CIG. 1) Unfortunately, MM caused a problem that the power cores (even upgraded to the maximum) can barely feed all weapons with evergy, especially a ship that is for long expeditions and cannot even afford to replenish ballistic weapons, this is a problem. Another problem arose for the multicrew game, the Copilot who controlled the energy, missiles and the remote turret now has to control the large weapons that were previously controlled by the pilot. There is a problem that the copilot can only control one or the other, so he chooses between the remote turret which is much more fun but by controlling it he deprives the ship of very significant firepower. 2) And the big nerf for Corsair has been present since its launch into the game, its cargo space can easily accommodate 162 SCU. There are even safety markings on the floor for larger cargo, but the ship is artificially weakened by the implementation of a much smaller only 72SCU large cargo grid. 3) The last big disparity is compared to its main competition Constellation Aquila and Andromeda, both have 2x more Hull HP, and that is not a small difference. That is a very extreme difference, I would even point out that it is a difference that is not reflected in their store price or their flight characteristics and is far beyond what could be called a mere difference in the materials used between the Drake and the RSI. ---- My solution would be to completely remove both wing guns, give the pilot 4xS5 like in Constellation and make all turrets bigger and put the multiplayer aspect through that. Side turrets with S3 weapons and a top turret with S4 Size would put a much greater emphasis on Multicrew than the change CIG made
Why do I keep thinking the Corsair was supposed to get vent tunnels akin to the Star Runner? Was that ever discussed during development? I could swear I saw something about it, once. And there is a lot of room underneath, because of the huge gears. Anyway, I like the cargo accessibility, but with some options for smuggling, it could be even better.
I'd not go melting ships based on recent nerfs and changes. There are so many new systems to come into the game, it is going to change the way we play. Combined with upgrading ships to gold standards, balancing and making core changes to ships to be similar to others in their class, we really have no idea what to expect at this stage.
I love the corsair - it has many small features that make it unique such as bright landing and ramp lights, roof access for sniping, and an amazing internal layout. Yeah you need a copilot to access it's OP firepower, and a crew to man turrets to be survivable in a fight against smaller targets, but it's a multicrew expedition ship and I think it's amazing
Let's be real it's not actually an exploration ship, even in lore it is said that Drake named it that way for "insurance concerns"', the truth is it's a ship that is meant to be used for pirating, the name alone is good enough indicator but in case you're not sure it is almost always depicted as attacking another ship, on the start screen alone you can see it attacking a hull C, even if all of that wasn't there one look at its specs tells everything you need to know, no exploration ship needs that much firepower, I'm tired of people acting like "oh the corsair is an exploration ship it shouldn't have a lot of firepower" when we all know and use the meme (it is meant to explore other ships' cargo) which I'm pretty sure was spread by CIG... The corsair is as much an exploration ship as the millenium falcon is a freighter, it is meant to be an all around swiss knife ship, or at least that's how it was meant to be, but now some people (a very small vocal minority) use this label which was clearly just meant as a bit of a meme by the devs to justify the terrible balancing around it, and now the people who bought the ship based on what it was supposed to be are left disappointed, even i could've come up with a far more logical nerf that would've fit its intended function
Just spent all my money in game to buy this, unaware of the nerf. It’s trash now, and I’m skint. Has taken me all month to grind that money. Not because I’m crap, but due to the game breaking bugs that have cost me so much.
Expand and retract buttons not working and free look in the cockpit is broken but still use my corsair daily, whenever it doesn't blow up reteving it 😅
The way they nerfed it is pure jank. The gunner must choose between the front guns or top turret, and switching between the 2 is not viable during combat. The ship effectively loses 2 guns either way. Also the angle the big guns is a very small window. Its a lazy nerf, and whoever gave it the green light should be fired along with the hack that did the actual work. Because both are incompetent.
They really want the many lone ppl flying bigger multi-crew ships to expect a limited performance, solo. None of them will be 'good' solo cus that's the point!
The people who have countless ships because they're whales and never actually grind will tell you that to get a corsair, actual players will tell you to get a Taurus
get a taurus, if you still like the same category of ships (medium-large) but don't like that stupid nerf then the taurus is your best option, lots of pilot controlled dps and it is cheaper as well, if you're into slightly bigger ships the Starlancer TAC should be a good fit but keep in mind that it *needs* crewmembers to operate at moderate efficiency and is far more expensive which already makes it a worse option
Taurus sounds like the best option. Plenty of cargo SCU, and more missiles. If I melt the Corsair, I can get a Taurus, and use the change to upgrade my starter titan to a cutty black. Then I just need a dedicated fighter
Drake Corsair is not a perfect ship but there are no perfect ships in SC. I like the way it looks and the functionality it provides to run different types of missions in the game. Overall 👍for me
Ppl hoping the Connie gets a nerf..the glorious Connies will never be nerfed, they are CR's verse child, and carry his DNA embedded in their fabric One day the verse will be filled with Connies as a dominant presence, destroying all the weaker ships in their wake, especially the crippled Corsair, a shadow of it's former self CR's child Connies will rule the verse, with all ships cowering pathetically and subservantly beneath All hail the glorious Connies!!!!!
Still not good enough, why would anybody go for corsair over the connie objectively better in every way now other then looks? Your comment doesn't make sense, just like corsair nerf.
His comment did make sense tho, he didn't say one was better than the other.. and the Connie's aren't better in Every way, for one it's a huge target, the cargo lift is shit, the engines are weak AF and some people can't stand the God awful cockpit struts unless you buy a aquilla. I own corsair and andromeda and they both have their uses but if I had to have a pvp fight the corsair feels better.
@@bovdoyle2942 If there is more than 1 option for any item on earth.. Somebody will choose option B, even if you think option A is better in every possible way. I like the ingress / egress better with corsair having elevator to roof, internal or ground .. and airlock plus rear ramp. I rented a Connie back when i was semi new .. this is before the corsair existed.. decent ship for sure but i didnt like the cargo elevator because it had issues sometimes.. those may have been resolved. I also Love the look I dont own a Corsair anymore - i traded it up to a StarLancer but i will be buying one with in game currency, for sure at some point to fill the niches i used it for
@@Hellcat-UK1 Both of your comments doesn't make sense. Why even bring up the fact the connie is a huge target when the corsair is bigger on every side. Don't believe me? Go check yourself. 3 737front x 12 794side x 29 117top for the Corsair VS 3 125front x 10 505side x 23 935top for the connie. Cargo lift is shit? Cargo lift are actually way more convenient and faster to load cargo in. Weak engine? Again the connie is actually a bit faster then Corsair. There's no point in flying a corsair over a connie right now other then roleplay. So please stop commenting on game balance if you don't know anything about the game or don't understand it.
@bovdoyle2942 who even mentioned balance? Dude chill out your obviously a bit delusional and getting upset over someone's opinion cause it's different than yours. Let's agree to disagree and I've been playing this game 8 year, every patch so I think I know a little. Cheers.
I have kept it, but havent flown it much in 4.0. I wish they nerfed the dos another way, or compinsated with better mobiliti or something. When armour comes in, it woll he dead
So every time I leave a comment correcting any of your videos you get pissy with me... I'm not attacking you. I just want the information that content creators to be accurate and the best. So in hopes of that Here is another correction. No, it did loose fire power. Even fully crewed the co-pilot must make a choice to either shoot the front facing S5 weapons or the remote turret but they can NOT shoot both at the same time so you will ALWAYS be down a set of guns. I don't like the way it was nerfed but it's a ship I'm keeping because it's still pretty awesome!
All these people saying the solo pilot shouldnt have so much power.... have you fought a gladius 1v1 in a corsair, you're not winning in a fight against a dedicated combat ship 1v1.
face it corsair is a dead ship , even when i play with my friend it feels so uselss . already meltet it for a taurus , the taurus is superior in any aspect. better guns for pilot , more armor , more cargo and cheaper in the pledge store
Still not sold. The 600i and Connies or even the SL MAX are just better options, for solo or multi crewed. If you like Drake the and the design that's great then keep it on that basis.
I'm not ditching the Corsair, I'm ditching the game. Well, not really. I realised I had more fun replaying the intro mission of baldurs gate 3 pre release over and over, so I'm done with star citizen. It's not the game I pledged anymore, and it looks like they don't intend to create that game anymore, going for a pvp online game without the things that make those games bearable, so technically I'm not ditching the game, they did.
The Corsair nerf is bs to me, the reasoning is stupid, they essentially nerfed it because it was too good at It's job and making it beeing less powerfull than a Connie is ridiculous, I have one I'm always taking the Taurus, more DPS, more cargo, what's the point

Corsair is one of my in-game purchase goals.
It is a nice in-game purchase. Plus, if it gets nerfed again, you don't care, it's not your real money that's involved ;)
Nah, its two positives over the taurus was dps and aesthetic. Now taurus only lacks aesthetic
Sending this to my buddy who has one, but it's been on the melting block a couple of times.
It feels useless compared to the Connies
Oh I really don't like the Connie's freight elevator
@@Erad_Prime I guess I am just used to it. I prefer the Connie in a fight and the cargo is easy to grab if you are just looting a dead ship or something.
@@Erad_Primeagreed. Ramps are always better IMO.
The corsair was a great ships, still is mostly, but the way those 2 s5 works now, and the fact that it tecnically can't have all of the turrets active anymore (same sit for either the top turret or the bottom S5 guns) are a real punch in guts for me
I've never played much with the Corsair, Really enjoyed using the Andromeda during Save Stanton Phase 1. Maybe I should give this Drake a test.
Just drop the front guns to s4 and give the pilot back all weapon controls again
And speed it up
That would be an even bigger nerf than what it already recieved.
@ ya but oh well, its an exploration ship. Idk why exploration ships have more guns than gun ships. It should be a bit faster tho
Yeah I agree with you. I also think it looks better, plus, the cargo elevator of the Connie is not very useful.
I have CCU to upgrade my Corsair to Starlancer TAC. New Guardian QI has been my new daily driver...
Cant wait for exploration in my Corsair.
I was already considering upgrading to a larger ship with store credit before the nerf. But CIG made the decision easier.
Despite the nerf, I still love flying this ship. To echo other comments, it's no so much the nerf itself that's the problem it's the way it was done, dropping the nose to size 4's seems a better option imo.
will one day a player use this ship for its original purpose, exploration XD
Even after the nerf Corsair is still my go to daily driver
It's a bummer that storage lockers under the beds have infinite loading bug since 3.24.3. This is only one thing that block Ing me to buy this ship again i game. Maybe this time I check out Aquila.
Never intended to abandon my corsair.
Heard somewhere cig and wants to make the s5 turret be 360 degree turn. Not sure where, but I hope it's true. That would make it worth it
The nerf was lazy and unimaginative. Would have understood leaving it with 6 size 4s. Long melted at this point for starlancer.
The way they nerfed the ship leaves the pilot targeting so useable alt account to fill the copilot seat and fie using voice command.
I do really like the corsair still but I think it wasn't for me personally when it came to a multi-crewed ship.
----
My solution would be to completely remove both wing guns, give the pilot 4xS5 like in Constellation and make all turrets bigger and put the multiplayer aspect through that.
I love the corsair dearly, but the Lancer Max has got it going on right now.
The good old flying tin can...
We'll see what happens to the wings when armour comes in the game
I'll definitely keep my Corsair .... who knows what future balancing will bring ... ?
I'd not go melting ships based on recent nerfs and changes. There are so many new systems to come into the game, it is going to change the way we play. Combined with upgrading ships to gold standards, balancing and making core changes to ships to be similar to others in their class, we really have no idea what to expect at this stage.
The thing is, you can have a ship with 4x size 5 so, why would you use the Corsair?
Already melted mine for a Connie Andromeda!
Just spent all my money in game to buy this, unaware of the nerf. It’s trash now, and I’m skint. Has taken me all month to grind that money. Not because I’m crap, but due to the game breaking bugs that have cost me so much.
Expand and retract buttons not working and free look in the cockpit is broken but still use my corsair daily, whenever it doesn't blow up reteving it 😅
You know what’s the worst thing is in the recent 4.0.1 ptu patches the sound is gone 😭 sounds worse than a home vacuum cleaner
Yeah the shield size is so sweet...
Make the wing guns also S5. It could help a lot.
I upgraded my Corsair to a Starlancer TAC
The way they nerfed it is pure jank. The gunner must choose between the front guns or top turret, and switching between the 2 is not viable during combat. The ship effectively loses 2 guns either way. Also the angle the big guns is a very small window. Its a lazy nerf, and whoever gave it the green light should be fired along with the hack that did the actual work. Because both are incompetent.
Suggestions for Corsair upgrades... 🤔
$10.00 on it will get a Guardian QI! 😏
They really want the many lone ppl flying bigger multi-crew ships to expect a limited performance, solo. None of them will be 'good' solo cus that's the point!
I think players who chase the meta will have probably _already_ dumped their Corsair. But the players who bought a _Corsair_ will keep it.
The people who have countless ships because they're whales and never actually grind will tell you that to get a corsair, actual players will tell you to get a Taurus
Whoever thought splitting functionality to button pushers literally should be fired lol
I loved my corsair but keep thinking of it as a "nerfed" ship now.
About to melt mine for credit. Just havent decided which way to go for the upgrade
get a taurus, if you still like the same category of ships (medium-large) but don't like that stupid nerf then the taurus is your best option, lots of pilot controlled dps and it is cheaper as well, if you're into slightly bigger ships the Starlancer TAC should be a good fit but keep in mind that it *needs* crewmembers to operate at moderate efficiency and is far more expensive which already makes it a worse option
Overall 👍for me
Ppl hoping the Connie gets a nerf..the glorious Connies will never be nerfed, they are CR's verse child, and carry his DNA embedded in their fabric
One day the verse will be filled with Connies as a dominant presence, destroying all the weaker ships in their wake, especially the crippled Corsair, a shadow of it's former self
CR's child Connies will rule the verse, with all ships cowering pathetically and subservantly beneath
All hail the glorious Connies!!!!!
Im not obsessed with dps like many who play this game. I treat it as an explorer ship its supposed to be not the #1 gunship in the game it was.
Even with the nerf - Corsair still hits like a freight train + has the cargo room to carry away a nice haul of recovered loot and components
I also Love the look
I dont own a Corsair anymore - i traded it up to a StarLancer but i will be buying one with in game currency, for sure at some point to fill the niches i used it for
@@Hellcat-UK1 Both of your comments doesn't make sense.
Cheers.
Too late, mine is now a perseus, i want to get a pyam model at some point though
So joke's on CiG? :D:D
I'm out of SC,, MM killed the fun the corsair was the last straw... Verse Project is going to kill SC
All these people saying the solo pilot shouldnt have so much power.... have you fought a gladius 1v1 in a corsair, you're not winning in a fight against a dedicated combat ship 1v1.
Nope ... CCU bait now. If I hadn't CCU'd to it from a ship in my MEGA pack, I would've already melted it. Building a chain to turn it into a Perseus.
Of course keep it. After all the ship sale scams are done they'll rebalance it back to a glass cannon.
face it corsair is a dead ship , even when i play with my friend it feels so uselss . already meltet it for a taurus , the taurus is superior in any aspect. better guns for pilot , more armor , more cargo and cheaper in the pledge store
Still not sold. The 600i and Connies or even the SL MAX are just better options, for solo or multi crewed. If you like Drake the and the design that's great then keep it on that basis.
Corsair is a good ship! Itll be great especially once the connie gets its nerf lmao
Still in my hangar waiting for a balance
Corsair is on my upgrading list rn. Why? Because of this guns idiocy. Apollo upgrade is ready and waiting.
Got CCU for it but still did not try it
Bring the corsair back to glory
good job!
i'll stick with my original backer pledge connie ;)
IT will be good again once they nerf the Constellation series.
I just want my Odyssey!
Keeping mine
People always overreact to balance changes
The only thing that needs ditched is this stale decades old broken tech demo
It got nerfed in such a lame way i cant justify the hundreds.
Next.
Guardian!!
Corsair IS "=" star citizen ! 🤔
