SINATRA NEVER got over the fact that brando was picked to lead this movie....lol..even though he couldnt sing a lick..but had the greatest songs...which Frank recorded and turned into classics
Love the backstory. I’m young but I’m a huge fan of the old days. Brando is my fave. And Sinatra is my God (I’m Italian, it’s mandatory). I read in a Brando biography that him and Sinatra had a beef of sorts. Sinatra was peeved he didn’t get the part of sky and Brando knew this is wisely asked him for some singing tips and practicing the script together and Sinatra supposedly told him to shove the script where the sun don’t shine. Ahhhh. The good old days. And supposedly, during the cheesecake take- the whole “daddy I got syrup in my ear” part- Sinatra is taking a bite of cheesecake as Brando’s character is talking and Brando purposely kept messing up his line forcing them to keep doing retakes and Sinatra to keep taking bites of cheesecake until finally Sinatra threatened to shove the damn cheesecake down his throat if he didn’t get the next one right. I love it. I love them. Especially Brando. When I was a little girl I’d go nuts when turner classic would have the marlon Brando month. They’d play all Brando. The men, on the waterfront, streetcar named desire- all the old stuff. All his greatest stuff. I’m like 8 years old sitting in front of the tv just in a daze. I loved him. Thanks for this clip. Awesome stuff n
Unaccustomed as I am to getting married I am taking this occasion here to say That me and Adelaide are Finally naming the day Though she knows deep in her heart I'm A phoney and I'm a fake She wants five children to start Five's a difficult point to make But Adelaide, Adelaide, ever-loving Adelaide Is taking a chance on me taking a chance I'll be respectable and nice Give up cards and dice And go for shoes and rice So gentlemen, deal me out Do not try to feel me out I got no more evenings free (you may scratch me) Since Adelaide, Adelaide Ever loving Adelaide is taking a chance (talk about your long shots) Taking a chance on me
The uploader is a little wrong in the description, there were three songs written for the movie that were not in the original broadway musical - 'Adelaide', 'A Woman in Love' , and 'Pet Me Poppa'. There were also a few songs from the Broadway version omitted from the movie.
Talk About A "LongShot" A book by the late Dick Francis. Forner jockey later author. Longshot - John Kendall age thirty two......... Dick Francis father of Felix Francis ............. Ketchup? Only two can mock? Not 'arf!
I get the appeal of Brando and Sinatra, but it is a Broadway musical. You need a few people who know what they're doing. Thank god for Kaye and Blaine.
No, it was a movie based on a Broadway musical. What works on the stage often does not work on screen. The camera provides an intimacy that the stage has to compensate for, for example by using exaggerated facial expressions. On screen, that looks ridiculous. So you have to convey the same emotion with far more subtlety. My hunch is they all had things to teach, and learn.
@ShotoTodoroki7504.....I mean that’s the thing though. Brando was just too damn good in that role to say he was miscast. It’s a movie. Sinatra was great too but honestly a bit too smooth for Detroit IMO. I enjoy his portrayal and wouldn’t have it any other way though.
@@MelodicProphetAgreed! Brando did absolutely amazing and I honestly think, while Sinatra is wonderful, was just looking a little too old to play Sky who is a younger rich man!
im glad they wrote this segment just for sinatra
In an attempt to find a song with my daughter's name in it (Adelaide), and only finding head banger and heavy rock I finally found this ❤
Check out Adelaide by Beethoven
This scene makes the whole movie for me. Sinatra owns it in every way. Just a perfect musical scene showcasing Sinatra's magic.
Omg if Frank Sinatra serenaded me like this I’d be swooning 😍😍😍
I swear😍
same 😍
Wouldn't everyone?

Frank stole every scene for sure!!
“They Call You Lady Luck” is the song that “Frankie” turned into a classic.
I love this old music, man.
I couldn't agree more,,
This song is way before my time, but I love it. Frank Sinatra's delivery was fabulous 🌹🌹
One of the best things Sinatra ever did. Sheer perfection. I am swooning . . . ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
One of the greatest musical scenes ever filmed!!! Sinatra = genius!!!!
Love this movie! Great Cast, Great Musical!
This one for sure gets stuck in my head😊
Fantastic entertainment. Sinatra at his brilliant best. A real toe tapper.

Unaccustomed as I am to getting married

Is taking a chance on me taking a chance

Give up cards and dice
And go for shoes and rice

Ok so I watched this movie a while back and -correct me if I’m wrong- but at 1:32 is the second guy in not the manager from the sound of music?

This is such an insane case of miscasting.

Brando stopped this film from being great.
