I love how old american cars had colorful interiors

Years ago cars had so many exterior and interior colors. That is because most cars were made to order, and you had to wait 6-8 weeks to get your new car. Today mist cars are bought off the dealership’s lot, so they limit color choices.

1977 was the year I got my license to drive. Today these cars draw attention as massive dinosaurs, back then they were just regular cars. Many of my friend's parents had big cars with big block V8s, whichmeant smoky burnouts to us 16 years old kids.

This was my favorite car as a kid. Ours was a lighter “Fern” green with a darker green vinyl top. It had a tufted velour interior. We bought it new in Spring 77 when I was 12, my sister 8. We went on a 3 week driving trip that summer. I thought I’d gone to heaven!

My dad had a ‘78 with the three tone velour. Such a quiet and comfy car.

Didn't you think back then at 12 (and so did the neighbors) that you were riding in something special? A family down the road bought a '78 two door New Yorker brougham that was as loaded as loaded could be. Triple gray, chrome rings around the wheels, padded landau roof, gigantic moonroof. The car was stunning. Better looking than the just shrunk Cadillacs of '77. Thanks for sharing that memory.

I had a '75 Imperial, twin to this car...dark blue with blue velour pillowed interior, and a factory sunroof. the biggest difference was 4 wheel disc brakes, which the NY did not have. awesome handling car. these were great looking road cars, and the last full size Chrysler...such a delight to drive down the road. must make quite a statement in Norway!

I had an extremely low mileage '78 Brougham sedan for a time... Dove Grey with matching leather and a Silver vinyl top.
    I miss that car!
I aced the Lean Burn setup and replaced it with a Demon Thermoquad... Gutted the Catalytic Converter and put an aftermarket "HEI" distributor in it... Ran like a Champ and got about 15mpg in town and almost 30 on the Highway!

Awesome video!!! ... i remember my folks having a car like this as our nice family car/vacation car during the 1980s. i believed my father and mother purchased it when it was a few years old (like 2 or 3) i don't remember much except that it was nice, big and roomy... and very cold in the summer and warm in the winter months. :)... ours was a maroon/dark red color 4 door model. :)

A very green car, but not what we think of as a "green car" today. :-)

Curious to know where this was filmed. I have never seen a license plate like that in my travels.

I bought a 1977 New Yorker Brougham in the early 80s. I absolutely loved everything about the car. It had alot of options. Tilt + telescopic steering wheel,a great AC,power windows, power seats, power door locks power trunk release, hideaway headlights, and a foot operated radio switch. ( GM calls it wonderbar.) The iterior was awesome. Burgundy colored plush velour. The exterior color was Silver with a Burgundy colored Landau roof. It ran great for about 3 years then all of a sudden it started to load up and backfire. No one could figure out why. Any answers??

Chrysler was on the skids at this point. The dashboard is almost identical to that of my first company car - a 1977 Plymouth Fury.
You could fit a K-Car in the trunk of the New Yorker.
Is that a restoration or a beautifully preserved survivor?
    Thanks

    • @OsbornTramain
      @OsbornTramain Год назад

It's actually a completely different dash board. They used a modular approach. The Dodge and Plymouth were identical, but Chrysler and Imperial are completely different. It uses the same radios and clocks and some component sharing, but the placement and style and padding is very different and won't interchange with a Plymouth or Dodge
