When he managed rangers in the late 80's all of his success was built on spending huge amounts of money that no other club had.
As it turns out, rangers didn't have the money either and ended up in massive debt and eventual liquidation.
Souness wants the new rangers to head down the same road as the old ragers LOL!

The Celtic team that started consisted primarily of the same as last year, other than Kasper on a free and Bernardo who we made permanent. This talk of the money difference was irrelevant in this match. Not one Rangers player would make the Celtic bench.

if you need to buy 4/5 players to close the gap then that is surmountable. it’s basically half a team you’ve to replace and banking on getting everyone of those signings correct.
Rangers have spent some cash over the years but rarely have any of them worked out
So Rangers nearly won the league last year because Celtic had a lot of difficulty going from Ange to Rodgers and a number of big injuries. Rodgers has since got a tune out of the underperforming good players. Cut the squad size and now has a team more akin to what he wants and theyve come through pre season on fire and started on all cylinders.
Currently no Rangers player would get in the Celtic team but you don't need 11 players better than Celtic to win a 1 of game. So what positions do Rangers desperately need to be competitive well a whole new back 4 a left winger and their other players to turn up with more fight than they did Sunday. To win the league Rangers would need strength in depth and real quality they would need 9 or 10 quality players including at least 3 strong experienced leaders. Or Celtic to fall off a cliff.

It should now be obvious to ANYONE who follows Scottish football, that Graeme Souness doesn't. He probably only watches the Celtic-rangers games.

The problem is that Talksport has a lot of Scottish listeners and we do watch Scottish football and not just 4 games per season either.

Sounness is a paid Rangers ambassador. He can’t afford to tell the truth and slag them off. He’s gaslighting his own supporters with irrelevant statistics. A large part of their possession stats were from 100 passes between the goalie and defence, too terrified to pass the ball forward .
