I'm finally trying the Derwent colored graphite you've reviewed and may have gone overboard in getting all colors, blocks and cakes! ha Still fun and I'm carbon inking in details as it washed the pencil lines out which gives a chance to straighten some out. You're really good at calculating how to draw the red lines over the building lines, my math ain't that good but maybe someday I'll be able to figure this out. Right now my drawings look like a square because the lines are too complicated. Does using red help?

Hi Teoh. Thank you I’m using Procreate also. I cannot work out how to make the image disappear so that you just have the perspective lines that you drew in. If it is not too much trouble could you please tell me how you made the image go away. Many thanks
Teoh, thank you for this. Is this a demonstration on what you would do in the field to determine the angles and vanishing point? You're working from photos here, but does this technique apply to real life urban sketching?

So each building has separate vanishing points?
If the buildings are side by side, parallel or facing each other perfectly, they will share the same VP. If the buildings are at different angles, each building will have its own VP.
Try finding the VP for boxes you can find at home, and move them around to see how the VP moves around and where they coincide (when boxes are parallel).

Hate to be that dude -but you are completely missing the third vanishing point at the top of the page where your vertical lines converge.
Yeah I know. But that's the beauty of art. You can choose to draw it or not. Sometime when working from reference photos, especially those taken with wide angle lens, I don't include the third vanishing point. It's just a habit because when sketching on location, the third VP doesn't come into play usually.
Your video is confusing. You keep saying "you have to measure" but then you wind up just tracing over existing photos. You never show how to set a vanishing point off the edge. Instead you just keep tracing over images and saying "this point is slightly lower than this point" then just trace the roof line. That doesn't tell us anything. You just traced the entire drawing and kept saying "your vanishing point is off the page".
Your comments old, but I'll actually help you out. Look up the Brewer Method. It's a method of actually creating grids with vanishing points off the paper, so you can blow up the center of your drawings and make them huge. To find the angles for those lines, you need to do some math and have basic understanding of perspective, the cone of vision, and the 60 degree COV. But what you want to do is find the inverse tangent of the "height" to the center vanishing point divided by the length to the vanishing point (these numbers are arbitrary, so you can make them small like height = 3 and length = 5 or something).
