Nice initiative..i have same system in house but keeping water clean is a big challenge even though I m using filters. Finally I obtain to change water twice a week. I have a small garden then water has a good destination
The bottle caps is a good bio media (another option would have been to use clay pebbles) The only downside to your system I can say is the plant element isn't enough to take up the excess nutrients. Would have loved if you had a space for plants that take out more nutrients (water hyacinth and water lettuce) before the water returns to the fish tank. I would have recommended having them in your bio media tank as I do mine(but you have a pump in there so it's going to be a problem) Radial flow was a good idea but the blue barrel isn't doing it justice when it comes to sucking out the solids from the bottom there'll always be something left behind. Having to lower the flow rate on the pump sucks because the gushing and splash of water would have been super good for oxygenating ( well it can be helped) One thing I didn't get any info on is if the water from the lettuce bed is in constant flow or stagnant. Setup is pretty decent, more room for improvement and I know you'll get it perfected. Best of luck to you.
brother, you provided excellent information, but if you are going to use thermacol sheets as floating beds for planting plants, it will pollute & make the water toxic to be reused for fishes....... use Polystyrene Sheets as floating trays best is the way of using gravels as media to plant crops Tilapia is the best one is a excellent hardy fish Catfish is second best as it's a hardy fish anything that is non organic & is highly porous in nature, so that bacteria gets the highest amount of surface area to settle in & to work upon ammonia and nitrate levels so as to filter filter the water for use in plants
I am from Ethiopia Like your vidio and went to start fish farm ni my home which I have only 80 kare meter open area can I stert on this area? Please five me your adivece please.

Hi I am interested in the fish using tuck . Contacting you from Zambia
Thank you for time. What are the temperatures there? Day/night and is there a cold season? In my location, we have freezing winter temps.
Typically between 24-30 degrees, no need for heating or cooling systems

why don't you just convert those barrels into filters and you convert your system into Aquaponics system
Sorry you missed it, it’s a complete Aquaponics setup awaiting plants
