Fished here today June 26th and took home 3 mackerel and 3 pollock. This was MY FIRST TIME EVER actually catching mackerel and pollock. Mackerel has always been my favourite fish to eat. Your videos are a great incentive!
Great videos! I just moved to Halifax and have been itching to get out fishing. Maybe I'll see you around! Keep up with the videos and good luck out there.
You should definitely get out fishing! There’s a lot of good places to fish around the city. I’ve been dying to lately but I’ve been super busy with work. Thanks for watching 🙏
Hello, have you tried using ajing soft plastics for mackerels? It's the number 1 bait they use in japan, I'm wondering if they also work with atlantic mackerels.
@@Howwerelivingfishing you can look for "ajing" in RUclips and tons of videos will appear, it's not a brand, it's a technique used by japanese to catch horse mackerels, they use ultralight rod for hightened sensitivity with shallow spool spinning reel loaded with 2lbs or below line. I suggest you give it a try. It'll surely make mackerel fishing 100x more fun. Tight lines brother. 🤙
No. Dip nets can only be used for a couple species here in Nova Scotia as far as I know. I believe you can use them for smelt and gaspereau. I would double check the regulations online through the DFO website for any tidal water fishing regulations. The “anglers handbook” also has lots of information but a lot of it is specific to non tidal fishing(freshwater lakes and streams)
@@davidz6490sorry for the super late reply, for some reason I only get notifications about new comments not the replies. Mackerel can often still be caught in October in Nova Scotia. I’m not sure if you’re more likely to catch bigger mackerel at that time or not but I think it’s quite possible.
Im trying for the 5+lb fish off the water front this summer if you would like to join me i do live just 10 min walk from the Dartmouth ferry when i go i do go for 5-8 hours and get so many fish when im trying

I haven’t tried that brand, but in one of my videos I used a soft plastic curly tailed grub to catch some.

Hi. I have a question about mackerel fishing? Are you allowed to use a dip net off a wharf in Nova Scotia?

@@Howwerelivingfishing ok thanks! One more question... Do bigger mackerel come around wharfs in October in Nova Scotia?
