What is your favorite memory of Sugar Ray Leonard?

After losing Duran in a BRUTAL bout in Jun '80, he took that lesson and came back BETTER.

@You I he did unify 147 and did offer Pryor a fight...TWICE. The first time in spring of "81 Aaron turned it down and the 2nd was SIGNED. A week before his May '82 fight with Roger Stafford, Leonard started seeing floaters and the fight was canceled. On the way to be in attendance to see that fight? Aaron Pryor. Why? They were going to announce their November bout. Easy facts to research for yourself 😉.

13 years. Roy at 21/22 Ray at 32/34, which was around the age he beat Marvin Hagler and had his rematch with Hearns. Ray was still game, Relax lol.

I always said that Roy should have retired after Tarver 1. I never thought about him taking a year off after Tarver. It may have worked but probably not because the initial weight loss was just too much. You got the clear but close win. Now go off into the sunset. He had nothing left to prove but I know that he still wanted to fight longer

Sugar Ray was a level above Roy. Roy’s had all the skills but his weakness was his chin and against the likes of Hearns, Duran haggler and even Ray he wouldn’t have stood a chance with a chin like his.

Roy was naturally bigger than all of them. Their power wouldn’t have translated to a naturally 175-180 lb Roy. Even when he cut down to 160 or 168 he would rehydrate past LHW level.

Ray Leonard and Roy Jones Jr. were both at the of top their game. I never heard Ray Leonard ever brag he was better than any he fought in the ring or sparred with. What I always notice Ray and Roy both had respect for those they faced in the ring whether if they won or lost. Watch Leonard and Comancho fight. The mad love and respect they showed one another though Hector won by the ref. stopping the fight. Ray gave kudos to Comancho.
