- This is my personal mage build I use for PVP. Might not be the perfect build but im having fun with it. Just keep shooting and give them no rest. See them spam roll and dodge xD
BTW it’s my first time PVP in a souls game so ignore the “drinking health pots” or “level 165 why you using duelist signs kinda weird”. I’m in no way shape or form a pro Elden ring PvP player it’s literally my first time doing this so I don’t know any unspoken rules or whatever. I had fun, I thought it was fun, I posted it here. I’m not teaching people how to PvP, I’m just sharing my fun with people. So please refrain from saying things like “Noob/ chugging estrus while dueling kinda weird/ cancer build” etc. I thought it was cool I’m sorry if it doesn’t suit your expectations 😐
Didn't realise until now that bloodhound's step on a mage is amazing to solve the problem of keeping a safe distance against melee opponents
What you consider "safe distance" is actually the optimum "casting distance" if most of your spells are long ranged. So yes it is really nice to have it especially if the opponent doesnt use Bloodhound's step, it will take a while for them to catch up on you :)

I was using this combination with the Urumi whip and Carian regal staff, it's pretty fun. The range bloodhound step moves feels just right for using whips too. Just have to be careful if you use it in PvE because you're liable to throw yourself off a cliff or something with bloodhound step.

I like your strategy. Getting them so occupied dodging your missiles so you can land a few quick melee hits until they make a mistake and get destroyed by the remaining spells.
Plus Collapsing Star not only does a good chunk of damage but it also drags in enemies close to you because it’s gravity magic.
Best counter for mages like this that I’ve found is using swarm of flies. It fucks them up when they just stand there casting and you can go in and close the distance
Thing is, if you just case the Eternal Darkness spell it gets absorbed and the mage can just continue casting

Maybe try using the "Darkness" magic on PvP Invasions?
It's a Faith Build scaling magic that disrupts vision.
Mages Ganksquad won't be able to aim accurately if they can't see you.

Nah if you use the lightning spear the one you throw at them while they in mid casting its usually faster then they cast speed so if timed right you could tagg tf out of them with it
This is what I was imagining my mage would look like toward end game, but I got so distracted by flashy int weapons and heavy armor 😆 wondering what rl ill need to combine my current int swordsman with a taste of machine-gun mage to cause panic in opponents

Bruhhhhh I just changed my build from full int to a holy knight faith Dex build and then you make me see this! God dam it might have to change again the bloodhound step changes everything!
Stars of Ruin is my favorite spell so far. Wrecks in pve and pvp. You cannot dodge those unless you jump up into the stratosphere like Radahn
Will need to test falling stars. Seems like a great combo setup.

What are those spells? I know the carian sword one but what’s the purple one that summons the balls ( not the lusat one) and the ghost looking grey/blue one?

its ok, weapon arts of all types are op, good int spec pvpers all mix in melee weapons.
When you have the carian swords up try Bloodhound stepping towards them then back.

Sorry it’s my first time dueling in a souls game and after a lot of dueling then I realized that the host has more healing pots. I don’t heal anymore now though so don’t worry xD
Why? If you are going to expect everyone to not heal in PVP you are going to be disappointed. There is literally no reason not to if you have flasks left.
It's the rapier that's the MVP. Most of them were surprised by the suddenly melee LOL. After dodging all the deadly spells only to be killed by a poke. That's so sad.

Yeesh. Bloodhound step on a mage. Great idea though. Mages should have some sort of blink ability always.
It’s great if you’re fighting people without bloodhound’s step equipped. If both of you have it it’s a bit hard to distance

i feel like its just great to have on a mage all around. like theres almost no reason not to. you got hella spells, you dont need an offensive ash of war, plus what wizard doesnt like a good blink ;)

@@nox_cadit me too. But I guess blood step kinda is one when you think about it. You only get a sense of the characters directional motion after they reappear since they go invisible for a second. Reminds of what I think of misty step or shadow step looking like from dnd.

Just a heads up to those who just saw this vid from today onwards, this is an old video from months ago when Elden Ring first came out and I decided to try out PVP for my very first time in any Dark Souls game. This is just a random gamer who decided to record and show his gameplay, its not in any way shape or form the "Ultimate Build" or "PVP Guide". I dont even play it anymore xD. Im sorry if I ruined your day by sharing a "maidenless build" or my "no skill gameplay". Im not a pro player so im not bothered, but if you dont have anything nice to say to someone i'd appreceate it if you dont comment. Constructive ones are fine though, but not the toxic ones. While I love to see someone else using collapsing stars with ancient death rancor, I always feel bad when I see someone using stars of ruin.
It is viable because of the headgear that I am wearing (Lusat's Glintstone Crown) which boosts the potency of Lusat's primeval sorceries (Stars of Ruin), basically the bread and butter of the build
star ruin is very good for baiting panic dodging to setup moonveil or something else that hits hard

nice build sir , looks really fun and deadly , may i ask what weapon are you using + talismans ?
The weapon is Lusat's Glintstone Staff, and my Talismans are Green Turtle Talisman (Stamina), Primal Glintstone Blade (FP), Prosthesis Wearer Heirloom (DEX because I lack dex to use the right hand weapon) and the Cerulean Seed Talisman (FP Restoration). I juggle between Talismans so I havent really figured out the best combination for my character yet !

That guy keep trying to do the Tree Knight Uno reverse card shield thing to your spells. Didn't look like it worked though for some reason.
Might be a couple of reasons tbf. His timing is off, or it might be pvp lag, or the spells wasnt directly infront of him but hit his side. Im not quite sure why he couldnt counter the spells

You do realize hosts have like 3X the healing pots as the invader.
If the invader chugs, it’s free game, but if you guys are dueling, duel to the death. May the best man win, not the man with more healing pots.

This is my very first time PVP in a souls game, I had no clue that I had more healing pots so you are wrong. I do not realize that hosts have more pots and tbh this is was just a video posted for fun cause I thought it was kinda cool. Not really much of a “Hey this is how you PVP video”. You can find that on other channels that specifically make Elden Ring content

Jeez, this looks like cancer to deal with. Im already not a fan of spam casting, especially Stars of Ruin since its basically impossible to escape. But then bloodhound step to boot? I built a mage, too, but I only use the Carian sword sorceries, gavel, and rock blaster with a claymans harpoon. This is exactly why.

Why does mage armor always have to be so ugly. DS3 had that crown that gave you elf ears. This game gives you a Freeza head.

as a mage i hate spam casters. try innovative tricks. ill use rannis moon and cut them off as they run away with bloodhound step and then use carrian peircer. in late game pvp people just leave if you sit there spamming spells and bloodhound step

Why the dagger? Is seems to be the worst for pvp in my experience.
I use an Antspur Rapier with scarlet rot and poison on it to punish people with low poise, also as a follow up to Collapsing Stars which brings the enemy closer to you. I’m not using it for the raw damage, just for the Damage over time when I have the chance 😬
Daggers are generally OP in my opinion except it takes a lot of experience to pull off

why does other players have many flasks? when i join pvp my flasks from 10 turns to 2 lol
I realised this too. I think the way it works is either theres a set amount of potions you can use when summoned, or it depends on how many potions the host has. Like in multiplayer, if you're high leveled and joined a lower leveled player, then your potions will be the same amount as the host player.
Because when you're a phantom your flask count gets lowered.

I believe im at around level 150 or 170 im not too sure. I basically spent points on Intelligence up to 70, and the rest in HP, FP and stamina. A little in strength/ dex just to be able to wield some weapons.
oh shit at 170 you must get smashed constantly with that health pool. It all makes sense you don't even know your exact SL.I feel like its a bit disingenuous to post highlights of a build that probably only wins 1/10 duels.

@@Gunslinger47911 If played right, all builds are OP and viable. My mage build punished people who spam roll, low poise, no shields, fight at long range etc. The way a mage fights is different from a melee build. You could say that if someone with a melee build comes close, im dead, but thats now how it works. I could either try and distance away with the Bloodhound's Step and cast a spell, or have short range spells to punish melee builds like Gavel of Haima. I definitely do not win only 1/10 of PVP fights, From my experience using this build, which in the description says its my own personal build that im having fun with, I win 70% of the time. When I lose, I learn from my mistakes and switch out sorceries to improve the build and be ready for different situations. Its a learning experience and a fun one at that :)

It got buffed and also with the works of talismans and lusats armor plus the temporary magic boost. Yea I admit it’s pretty obnoxious, I love the spell cuz it’s fun to use and it looks cool, but yea they should prolly nerf it a bit so people aren’t getting one shotted constantly

High poise colossal sword bloodhound hard counter this. They will just poise through the melee attacks and trade with you while bloodhound your range.
Yes if someone has high poise I wouldn’t be able to melee them. The melee is to punish people with low poise. If they have high poise unfortunately I’d have to stick with long range spells
@@ravenzzz9584 people are getting smart. I promise you a lot of people regardless of builds will have a low weight dagger with bloodhound to bully range. Range builds literally dies to L2 > R1 with bloodhound dagger.

Use a magic infused estoc instead of antspur, it has the most range and dmg out of all the rapiers
Im not really using the Antspur for the raw damage. It has scarlet rot and poison on it for damage over time. My main attacks are with the spells :)
It takes too many hits to proc scarlet rot tbh and you can just infused estoc with poison, it’s just superior in every way
