also want to thank you for getting me into archery. came across your vids by accident and ended up binge watching them. I decided to take the leap and go for it which I am very happy I did. I did the bit where I went to one of the local pro shops and tried out archery just to be sure like you recommended, and went on from there. Thanks to your videos I was able to talk the lingo without looking like a complete noob and generally had the confidence to buy my first bow properly (being fitted and what not) and not feel like I was being ripped off. Also because of you and Greg from Archery 101, my spread has gone from all over the place down to hitting 8s-10s consistantly and every day I practice the spread gets a little tighter. Granted, I am only working at 8 meters (my backyard is small) for now, but once I feel a bit more confident I will be able to move it out to about 18. If you want I'll keep you posted on my progress if not, just be proud that the time and effort you put into your videos has helped not only individuals, but the sport of archery as a whole.

According to my local store, the Polaris can handle up to 33lbs limbs, i bought a new set of limbs upgrading from 22 to 32lbs and ive been shooting it for half a year now in this configuration with no trouble at all so far. 68 inch limb and 29 inch draw lenght btw.
Polaris is available in olimpic recurve sizes like 68, 70" and Sage is only in one size 62". The biggest difference except color between Polaris and Sage is that Sages limbs tips are reinforced (micarta).That is why its "fast flight" recommendet.
I forgot to mention the sizes. Thanks for reminding me. You're right: the Polaris comes in a much great range of sizes for limbs and riser, from junior size to 70". The Sage comes in 62", while the identical Journey has longer limbs for 64".
I kind of wonder if my SWA Tigershark is a rebranded Samick bow, or if it's a completely different bow altogether. Not like it would really dampen my enjoyment of the bow, however. I am thoroughly happy with it, if a little miffed that I didn't get a lighter weight. Still have to contact SWA and see what options I have for 25# limbs on it.

Never shot a bow yet (except some entry lvl inexpensive longbow as a kid). I'm 5.10 (1.78 m, 68 kg) and rather skinny (but an ok(-ish) build as a former tennis pro). My draw is 28.5" at anchor position. They sell it at 62, 64, 66, 68 and 70". So i'n not sure what size is ok for me (so i will not over-draw it or vice-versa)... and some advice on the draw weight if possible (i watched your other clips regarding draw weight for beginners)... was thinking a 26-28 lbs (i used a tension meter... and i can hold (aprox) 26 LBS for a good 15-20 sec). I bet u get a lot of this questions so sry in advance for bothering you. BTW nice vids, you rly sparked my lost love for archery, ty for your effort, keep it on...
Any of those sizes would work fine for you. Larger bows will be smoother to use, but if you intend to bring it out into the field, perhaps a shorter bow would be more suitable. If you just want to do target shooting, I'd recommend the 68" or 66".

The two smaller holes on the top are a standard sight mount. The bigger hole can be used for a plunger button, a push-in rest or even a bowfishing reel.
I bought my Polaris a few years ago and i am still very happy with it. i have a 68 inch and 24 pounds.. i only shoot in my backyard but its still fun :)
Nice vid. FYI, my OMP "Explorer" is 40lb and has the exact same riser -- down to the red stripe -- (but black limbs...altho it came with cheesy white writing which I blacked out).

Watching your video it looks as though the Polaris riser is identical in size and length to my S.A.S. Spirit riser. This riser is 23 inches long .the Samick riser 19 inches . Just to let people know if I am correct then if you were to just purchase the Polaris riser to use with your Samick limbs you will have 66 inch bow, Journey limbs a 68 inch bow. The S.A.S. riser is noticeably heavy. The Polaris contours of the grip also appear identical. This has been a problem for me with hand size ,causing pain at the bottom of my thumb after shooting for only 15 minutes. Therefore I choose to mostly use the Samick riser using both Samick size limbs. I wonder if the Polaris and S.A.S riser,s are made at the same location and just stamped with different brands. Something worth noting, unless I am misunderstanding, is that the Samick Sage comes in one size 62'', the Polaris comes in many, 48” 54” 62“ 64” 66” 68, according to the site. This means a taller person can more easily shoot without the stacking problem being an issue.
The limb tips have overlays with hardwood. So they can handle low stretch like D97, but for olym high performance strings like 652 or 8125 is not recommended. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm not sure if they would conform to the rules, but because they use pocket limbs rather than ILF limbs they can't be tuned as finely as a true olympic bow. Also, the OMP riser isn't set up for a clicker. That being said, my first bow was an OMP Adventure 2.0 and its a fine choice for a starter bow.

It's perfectly legal, I've shot with it in competition before. Not particularly well, but I used it. The center shot is a tad left so a plunger wont do you much good, but it holds a Shibuya Ultima sight just fine. :-) If you are going to add stabilizers and clickers, it's time for you to upgrade anyway. As my coach said "you are outshooting your bow". It was a wonderful learning bow though. Light weight, could shoot it for hours, and dirt cheap (as archery things go) so it's a low-risk way to see if you really like recurve.
Smock also makes electric guitars! Some are sold with the Samick name and they also make guitars for other companies with that company's name on it. Sound familiar?

hmm, im kinda a beginner but i can answer to that, see, you can hunt with it (If you have 40+ pound) but Polaris is not a hunting bow. It has a white color so animals could see you easily and run, perhaps you have a camo tape or some forest colour cloth to wrap the bow, still it would be kind of clumsy to hunt with about 68 inch bow.

I have an omp but it got black limbs... Looks like sammick sage but says omp... Is it the same?

I got the polaris at 18 lbs for my wife, can i buy sage limbs of 30 lbs and use it on the same polaris riser?

The colours and contrast of the wood on that riser looks absolutely gorgeous.
Put the Sage limbs on, get a quality fast flight string and it's a good shooter.

I have the 24" raiser and 68" limbs with 26 pounds. What is the recomended brace height for that bow? I can not find any information about it

Those limbs will be equal to different poundage depending upon which size riser you connect them to.
